Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common liver-related complication seen in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)(1).NASH is strongly associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)but it has also been apparent for a number of years that T2DM is associated with an increased risk of HCC independent of the presence of NASH(2).A 2006 meta-analysis of retrospective cohort studies and case-control studies demonstrated an association between T2DM and an increased risk of HCC(3).International guidelines advocate surveillance for HCC in patients with NASH who have progressed to cirrhosis(4).An important clinical question is whether T2DM confers an increased risk of HCC once patients with NASH have progressed to *** a recent study by Yang and colleagues(5),the authors reported strong evidence that T2DM is an independent risk factor for HCC in patients with NASH-related *** and colleagues performed a retrospective analysis of a prospectively registered research dataset of patients with NASH-related cirrhosis.

Large amount of chemicals and highly purified-water are needed in microelectronic manufacture. The ability of solutions to penetrate tiny spaces will become significantly more challenging as the feature size of semiconductor devices decreases to nanoscale dimensions and the functional complexity of integrated circuitries (ICs) ever increases. Supercritical fluids (SCFs) possess a unique combination of properties (no surface tension and gas-like viscosity) that can potentially be exploited for application in microelectronics manufacturing and processing in response to needs for material-compatible cleaning systems, small-dimension developing solvents, and low chemical-use processes. Recent microelec- tronics processes for cleaning and rinsing of patterned porous low-k dielectrics and drying of photo- resist in CO2-based solvents are the main focus of this review. Additional topics in supercritical fluid processing include spin coating of photoresists, development with nanoscale dimensions, metal deposition and silylation.

Effects of Reduced Nocturnal Temperature on performance and Behavior of Nursery pigs

previous studies suggested that pigs prefer lower environmental temperatures during nighttime compared to daytime. So reducing nocturnal temperature in nursery barns may not jeopardize performance or welfare of pigs, but can save energy for heating the barn. A study was conducted to investigate growth performance and behavioral response of nursery pigs to reduced nocturnal temperature. This study was conducted in four replicates, each utilizing 270 newly weaned pigs and lasting for 5 wk. Temperature setpoint in the control room （CON） was started at 30℃ and decreased by 2℃ per week. In the treatment room （RNT）, temperature setpoint was maintained same as in CON between 7：00 h and 19：00 h, and reduced by 8~C between 19：00 h and 7：00 h starting from d 5. Growth performance （15 pens/room, 9 pigs/pen, BW=（6.3±0.61） kg） was monitored for 5 wk, and behaviors in 6 pens in each room were video-recorded for 24 h 3 d after being exposed to the experimental temperature. Instantaneous scan sampling was performed to determine time budgets for standing, sitting, eating, drinking, belly nosing, three postures of lying, and huddling. Two focal pigs were continuously viewed to record duration and occurrence of eating and drinking. Reduced nocturnal temperature did not affect the growth performance of the pigs, time spent standing, sitting, total lying and eating or duration and frequencies of eating and drinking （all p〉0.10）. However, RNT increased time spent lying sternal （83 vs. 72%, p〈0.001） and number of pigs that were huddling （70 vs. 50% of lying pigs, p〈0.001）, and decreased time spent lying laterally （0.8 vs. 4.6%, p〈0.001）, lying half laterally （5.3 vs. 11.0%, p〈0.001）, and belly nosing （0.9 vs. 1.7%, p=0.01） during nighttime. These results indicate that nursery pigs adopted the posture of lying sternal and huddled together to reduce heat loss from their body surface to maintain thermal balance and growth performance in RNT. High strength steel products with good ductility can be produced via Q&p hot stamping process,while the phase transformation of the process is more complicated than common hot stamping since two-step quenching and one-step carbon partitioning processes are *** this study,an integrated model of microstructure evolution relating to Q&p hot stamping was presented with a persuasively predicted results of mechanical *** transformation of diffusional phase and non-diffusional phase,including original austenite grain size individually,were considered,as well as the carbon partitioning process which affects the secondary martensite transformation temperature and the subsequent phase ***,the mechanical properties including hardness,strength,and elongation were calculated through a series of theoretical and empirical models in accordance with phase ***,a modified elongation prediction model was generated ultimately with higher accuracy than the existed Mileiko’s *** the end,the unified model was applied to simulate the Q&p hot stamping process of a U-cup part based on the finite element software LS-DYNA,where the calculated outputs were coincident with the measured consequences.

Failure to Engage in Breast Screening and Risk Assessment Results in More Advanced Stage at Diagnosis

Background: Although well established, population based screening and family risk assessment for breast cancer have come under increasing scrutiny. The concept of over diagnosis is increasingly cited in cancer publications. This study assessed the impact of failure to screen or risk assess patients attending with a new diagnosis of breast cancer. Methods: A retrospective review was undertaken of 200 consecutive patients diagnosed with breast cancer between January 2010 and September 2012 at Letterkenny Hospital. Appropriate screening was defined as biennial in those aged 50 - 66 and in those 40 - 49 with moderate/high family history risk (NICE criteria or IBIS criteria). patient demographics, screening history, diagnosis date and stage (TNM) were?documented. patients with previous breast cancer were not included (n = 17). Results: 200 consecutive patients, whose mean age was 61 (range 28 - 99), were studied. 112/200 (56%) met no criteria for screening or family history assessment, and 88/200 (44%) met criteria for either screening (in 56) or family history assessment (in 32). 61/88 (69.3%) meeting criteria did not have a mammogram or risk assessment. The stage of breast cancer was significantly earlier in those screened appropriately, with early stage cancer in n = 111/139 (79.9 %) and late in n = 28/139 (20.1%), compared with 38/61 (62.3%) and 23/61 (37.7%) in those failing to be screened appropriately (p = 0.01?χ2?df1). Conclusion:?Failure to engage in breast screening and risk assessment resulted in more advanced stage at diagnosis.

purpose:The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a 17-week,3-component lifestyle intervention for enhancing health behaviors during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)***:A parallel-group(intervention and control)study was conducted amongst 79 airline pilots over a 17-week period during the COVID-19 *** intervention group(n=38)received a personalized sleep,dietary,and physical activity(pA)*** control group(n=41)received no *** measures for sleep,fruit and vegetable intake,pA,and subjective health were measured though an online survey before and after the 17-week *** changes in outcome measures were used to determine the efficacy of the ***:Significant main effects for time￡group were found for International physical Activity Questionnaire-walk(p=0.02)and for all other outcome measures(pp significantly improved in sleep duration(ppittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score(ppA(ppphysical score(ppp showed significant negative change for sleep duration,pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score,and Short Form 12v2 mental score(pprovide preliminary evidence that a 3-component healthy sleep,eating,and pA intervention elicit improvements in health behaviors and perceived subjective health in pilots and may improve quality of life during an unprecedented global pandemic.

Recombineering is an essential tool for molecular biologists,allowing for the facile and efficient manipulation of bacterial genomes directly in cells without the need for costly and laborious in vitro manipulations involving restriction *** main workhorses behind recombineering are bacteriophage proteins that promote the single-strand annealing(SSA)homologous recombination pathway to repair double-stranded DNA *** there have been several reviews examining recombineering methods and applications,comparatively few have focused on the mechanisms of the proteins that are the key players in the SSA pathway:a 5′→3′exonuclease and a single-strand annealing protein(SSAp or“annealase”).This review dives into the structures and functions of the two SSA recombination systems that were the first to be developed for recombineering in ***:the RecET system from *** Rac prophage and the𝜆Red system from bacteriophageλ.By comparing the structures of the RecT and Red𝛽annealases,and the RecE and𝜆Exo exonucleases,we provide new insights into how the structures of these proteins dictate their *** the sequence conservation of the𝜆λExo and RecE exonucleases gives more profound insights into their critical functional ***,as recombineering accelerates and evolves in the laboratory,a better understanding of the mechanisms of the proteins behind this powerful technique will drive the development of improved and expanded capabilities in the future.
