BACKGROUND Tobacco use is a well-documented modifiable risk factor for perioperative *** To determine the tobacco abstinence rates of patients who made cessation efforts prior to a total joint arthroplasty(TJA)*** A retrospective evaluation was performed on 88 self-reported tobacco users who underwent TJA between 2014-2022 and had tobacco cessation dates within 3 mo of *** patients were contacted via phone survey to understand their tobacco use pattern,and patient reported outcomes.A total of 37 TJA patients *** Our cohort was on average 61-years-old,60%(n=22)women,with an average body mass index of 30 kg/m^(2).The average follow-up time was 2.9±1.9 years.A total of 73.0%(n=27)of patients endorsed complete abstinence from tobacco use prior to *** cessation methods were used perioperatively including prescription therapy(13.5%),over the counter nicotine replacement(18.9%),cessation programs(5.4%).At final follow up,43.2%(n=16)of prior tobacco smokers reported complete *** who were able to maintain cessation postoperatively had improved Patient-Reported Outcomes measurement Information System(PROmIS)-10 mental health scores(49 vs 58;P=0.01),and hip dysfunction and osteoarthritis outcome score for joint replacement(***)scores(63 vs 82;P=0.02).No patients in this cohort had a prosthetic joint infection or required revision *** We report a tobacco cessation rate of 43.2%in patients undergoing elective TJA nearly 3 years *** undergoing TJA who were able to remain abstinent had improved PROmIS-10 mental health scores and *** *** perioperative period provides clinicians a unique opportunity to assist active tobacco smokers with cessation efforts and improve postoperative outcomes.

Objective:To assess the effect of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs)and tricyclic antidepressants(TCAs)in reducing vertigo,tinnitus,and hearing loss among patients with meniere's disease(mD).Data Sources:The following databases were utilized in this scoping review:Ovid medline,Pubmed-NCBI,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,and ***:Studies were identified through the following search phrases:"serotonin specific reuptake inhibitors"OR"tricyclic antidepressants"AND"meniere's disease."References from included manuscripts were examined for possible inclusion of additional ***:The literature search yielded 23 results,which were screened by three independent *** studies and three duplicates were *** examination of references from the included studies yielded two additional publications.A total of four published studies assessing SSRIs and TCAs among 147 patients with mD were ultimately *** studies described significant reductions in vertigo attack frequency among patients treated with either SSRIs or TCAs compared to their pretreatment *** studies assessed the drugs'effects on hearing,of which none found a significant difference among patients treated with SSRIs or *** study found a significant decrease in patient-reported tinnitus following treatment with TCAs or SSRIs compared to their pretreatment ***:Data exploring SSRIs and TCAs among patients with mD suggests that these medications may reduce the frequency of tinnitus and vertigo,although there was significant heterogeneity in outcome *** remains a need for larger-scale prospective studies that emphasize objective data to evaluate their effective-ness in reducing common mD symptoms.

We described a method for obtaining fluorine-free Ti_(3)C_(2)Cl_(2)mXene phases by melting copper in CuCl_(2)instead of aluminum in Ti_(3)AlC_(2).XRD results show that when molten salt CuCl_(2)etches Ti_(3)AlC_(2),it forms an intermediate product Ti_(3)CuC_(2),and then reacts with Ti_(3)CuC_(2)to obtain Ti_(3)C_(2)Cl_(2).The reaction of Ti_(3)AlC_(2)and CuCl_(2)at a temperature of 800℃for 2 h to obtain Ti_(3)C_(2)Cl_(2)with an optimal lamellar structure is shown in SEm *** pseudopotential plane-wave(PP-PW)method is used to calculate on the electronic *** etching mechanism is investigated by the total energies of each *** chemical reaction of Ti_(3)AlC_(2)and CuCl_(2)will first become Ti_(3)CuC_(2)and Cu,and then become Ti_(3)C_(2)Cl_(2)during the Lewis acid etching process,which are consistent with the experimental results.

Small coin cell batteries are predominantly used for testing lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in academia because they require small amounts of material and are easy to ***,insufficient attention is given to difference in cell performance that arises from the differences in format between coin cells used by academic researchers and pouch or cylindrical cells which are used in *** this article,we compare coin cells and pouch cells of different size with exactly the same electrode materials,electrolyte,and electrochemical *** show the battery impedance changes substantially depending on the cell format using techniques including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy(EIS)and Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique(GITT).Using full cell NCA-graphite LIBs,we demonstrate that this difference in impedance has important knock-on effects on the battery rate performance due to ohmic polarization and the battery life time due to Li metal plating on the *** hope this work will help researchers getting a better idea of how small coin cell formats impact the cell performance and help predicting improvements that can be achieved by implementing larger cell formats.
