NeCAB family of neuronal calcium-binding proteins in health and disease

The N-terminal eF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(NeCAB1–3) constitute a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one eF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their interactions with other proteins. NeCAB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. NeCAB2 interacts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while NeCAB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. This demonstrates the capacity of the family for interactions with various classes of proteins. NeCAB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: NeCAB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, NeCAB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and NeCAB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxygenases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in NeCAB proteins may induce antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity remains uncertain. Alternatively, calcium-mediated conformational changes might influence protein interactions or the subcellular localization of NeCAB proteins by controlling the availability of protein–protein interaction domains situated between the eF hands and the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. Contribution of China's carbon budget on global radiative forcing

China is the world's largest carbon dioxide（CO2） emitter and a major trading country. Both anthropogenic and natural factors play a critical role in its carbon budget. However,previous studies mostly focus on evaluating anthropogenic emissions or the natural carbon cycle separately, and few included trade-related（import and export） CO2emissions and its contribution on global warming. Using the CarbonTracker CT2019 assimilation dataset and China trade emissions from the Global Carbon Project, we found that the change trend of global CO2flux had obvious spatial heterogeneity, which is mainly affected by anthropogenic CO2flux. From 2000 to 2018, carbon emissions from fossil fuels in the world and in China all showed an obvious increasing trend, but the magnitude of the increase tended to slow *** 2018, the radiative forcing（RF） caused by China's import and export trade was-0.0038 W m-2, and the RF caused by natural carbon budget was-0.0027 W m-2, offsetting 1.54% and 1.13% of the RF caused by fossil fuels that year, respectively. From 2000 to 2018, the contribution of China's carbon emission from fossil fuels to global RF was 11.32%. Considering China's import and export trade, the contribution of anthropogenic CO2emission to global RF decreased to 9.50%. Furthermore, taking into account the offset of carbon sink from China's terrestrial ecosystems, the net contribution of China to global RF decreased to 7.63%. This study demonstrates that China's terrestrial ecosystem and import and export trade are all mitigating China's impact on global anthropogenic warming, and also confirms that during the research process on climate change, comprehensively considering the carbon budget from anthropogenic and natural carbon budgets is necessary to systematically understand the impacts of regional or national carbon budgets on global warming.

Contribution to the knowledge of the Afrotropical Spilomelinae (Lepidoptera, Crambidae): Three New Species and One Taxonomic Update in the Tribes Margaroniini Swinhoe & Cotes, 1889 and Agroterini Acloque, 1897, from Saudi Arabia

Taxonomic and faunistic results on three genera in the tribes Margaroniini Swinhoe & Cotes, 1889 and Agroterini Acloque, 1897—Omiodes Guinée, 1854, Patania Moore, 1888 and Notarcha Meyrick, 1884 are presented, based on material sampled in the Afrotropical part of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south-western province of Jizan, Saudi Arabia. Omiodes undularis sp.n., Patania orbiscularis sp.n. and Patania rhomboidalis sp.n. are newly described. Of Omiodes undularis sp.n., the adults, male genitalia, and tympanal organs are described and figured. The female genitalia are unknown. The Afrotropical and Oriental species of the genus potentially related to the new species by external characters are reviewed. The differential character states distinguishing the new species from the closest related Omiodes indicata (Fabricius, 1775) are listed. The adults and male genitalia of Patania orbiscularis sp.n. are described and figured. The female genitalia are unknown. The species most closely related in the male genitalia is Patania tchadalis (Leraut, 2005). The differential character states are listed. Of Patania rhomboidalis sp.n., the adults, female genitalia, and tympanal organs are described and figured. The new species is externally closely related to Patania tchadalis (Leraut, 2005), Patania harutai (Inoue, 1955), Patania crepuscularia Matsui & Naka, 2023, Patania accipitralis (Walker, 1866) and Patania fraterna (Moore, 1885) externally and in the female genitalia. The external and internal differential character states are listed. A determination key to the newly described Arabian species of the genus Patania Moore, 1888 and their closest relatives is given. The female genitalia of Notarcha viridalis Seizmair, 2021 attributed to the Notarcha quaternalis (Zeller, 1852) species complex, are described for the first time. Investigation on the Reduction of Center of Mass Oscillations of Flexible Flapping Fins

Nature has been a source of inspiration for developing advanced autonomous aerial and underwater vehicles. The bodies with flapping appendages produce Center of Mass （COM） oscillations as the flapping fins generate forces oscillatory in nature. The vehicles with larger COM oscillations pose the problems of control and maneuverability and this paper discusses the effect of flexibility and other operating parameters such as heaving, pitching amplitudes and operating frequency on COM oscillations. A detailed theoretical investigation has been carried out to predict the optimal operating parameters along with the fin stiffness to reduce the COM oscillations for a given Self-Propelled Speed （SPS）. experiments have been performed to validate the theoretical results. It has been observed that the flexible fins operating at larger frequencies produce lower COM oscillations compared to stiffer fins operating at lower frequencies for a given mean thrust/SPS, and that the trailing edge amplitude along with the deformation pattern play a role in the generation of COM oscillations.

Geochemical Constraints of the ediacaran Volcano-Sedimentary Succession of the Sa'al Metamorphic Complex at Wadi Zaghra, South Sinai, egypt

The volcano-sedimentary succession around Wadi Zaghra in Sinai, at the northernmost segment of the Arabian Nubian Shield, comprises volcanic rocks interbedded with rather immature sediments. The succession is dominated by intermediate to silicic volcanics of medium-to high-k calc-alkaline affinity. It is divided into two units, the lower unit includes intermediate rocks and dacites interbedded with graywackes, semi-pelites and pelites and topped by polymict conglomerates. This unit is subjected to folding and regional metamorphism(up to garnet zone) and is intruded by quartz diorite-granodiorite inducing, locally, low-pressure contact thermal metamorphism. The unmetamorphosed upper unit encompasses acid volcanics intercalated with litharenite, sublitharenite and minor arenite. The rhyolites of this unit pertain to the highly fractionated granites and are characterized by an agpaitic index(Nk/A) ranging from 0.87 to 0.96. They may reflect either extensive interaction of subduction-related magmas with the continental crust or a change in the tectonic regime. The present lithological and geochemical characteristics of the studied sediments together with available zircon ages indicate rather distal provenance of their detritus. This detritus comprises fluvial-alluvial sediments accumulated in the intermontane basins, which are half-grabens or tilted fault blocks. The tectonic setting of the depositional basins is active continental margin and continental island arcs. Geochemical patterns of the Zaghra volcano-sedimentary succession indicate their correlation with the Dokhan Volcanics-Hammamat Clastics sequence of the eastern Desert of egypt. Also, the Zaghra volcanics display geochemical similarities with those exposed in Sinai, at the Rutig, Ferani and Iqna Shar'a areas. The Zaghra succession is dated as ediacaran but is not related either to the ensimatic island arc assemblage or to the rift-related assemblage formed during the early stages of the break-up of Rodinia

Preconditioned Iterative Methods for Algebraic Systems from Multiplicative Half-Quadratic Regularization Image Restorations

Image restoration is often solved by minimizing an energy function consisting of a data-fidelity term and a regularization term.A regularized convex term can usually preserve the image edges well in the restored *** this paper,we consider a class of convex and edge-preserving regularization functions,i.e.,multiplicative half-quadratic regularizations,and we use the Newton method to solve the correspondingly reduced systems of nonlinear *** each Newton iterate,the preconditioned conjugate gradient method,incorporated with a constraint preconditioner,is employed to solve the structured Newton equation that has a symmetric positive definite coefficient matrix. The eigenvalue bounds of the preconditioned matrix are deliberately derived,which can be used to estimate the convergence speed of the preconditioned conjugate gradient *** use experimental results to demonstrate that this new approach is efficient, and the effect of image restoration is reasonably well.
