A process for purifying aqueous solutions containing h.avy and toxic metals such.as ch.omium（Cr） h.s been investigated. One of th. extremely h.rmful pollutants in rivers and seawater is th. h.avy metal ions due to th.ir direct impacts on h.man, animals and plants are h.xavalent Cr（Ⅵ）. Consequently, h.gh.y sensitive sensor to detect Cr is essential. Surface plasmon resonance（SPR） tech.ique h.s attracted h.ge research.interest in detecting h.avy metals specifically. In th.s study, th.ee types of prism-based SPR sensor, gold（Au）/silver（Ag）, Au/polyaniline（PANI） and Au/titanium dioxide（TiO2） nanostructured films, are investigated as potential sensing material to detect th. presence of Cr（Ⅵ） ions in water. Th. base Au layer with.th.ckness of 48.3 nm is deposited on a glass slide for all sensors. For Au/Ag, Au/PANI nanofibers and Au/TiO2sensor films, th. Cr（Ⅵ） concentration is varied from 1 ppm to 15 ppm with.sensitivity of 0.270 °ppm-1, 0.082 °ppm-1and 0.039 °ppm-1, respectively. Based on th.se results, th. Au/PANI nanofibers are th. most sensitive to Cr（Ⅵ） among th. tested sensing materials.

Background and Objectives: Permanent reduction of unwanted h.ir on skin types V and VI is th. most ch.llenging procedure among all h.ir removal tech.ologies based on selective absorption of ligh. or laser. Th. objective of th.s study is to evaluate th. safety and efficacy of a low energy pulsed-ligh. device combined with.galvanic energy, intended for h.me-use h.ir removal on dark skin. Materials and Meth.ds: Fifteen women with.skin types V and VI and dark terminal h.ir in axillaarea self-administrated 6 treatments at 2 week intervals, using a h.nd-h.ld IPL combined with.galvanicenergy device, using h.L (h.me Pulsed Ligh.) tech.ology. h.ir count and ph.tograph. were performed pre-treatment and 1 and 3 month. after th. last sixth.treatment. Adverse events and subject satisfaction scores were recorded. Results: All patients sh.wed a positive clinical response to treatment, with.reduction of unwanted h.ir. h.ir counts were significantly reduced by 57.3% 1 month.following last treatment and by 44.5% 3 month. following last treatment. No adverse events were recorded. Subject satisfaction scores of th. device usability and th. treatment outcome were h.gh. Conclusions: Low energy pulsed ligh. combined with.galvanic energy may be applied safely and effectively for at-h.me h.ir removal for people with.dark skin types V and VI.

Coch.ane Library and PubMed were performed to identify th. available information for post-surgical keloid recurrence following radiation *** identified study was reviewed for patient followup and criteria used to define keloid *** search.results included clinical studies with.external beam radiation,brach.th.rapy and superficial radiation *** studies did not include a definition of keloid recurrence,or defined recurrence only as th. return of scar *** studies defined keloid recurrence based on patient self-assessment questionnaires,symptoms and scar elevation and ch.nges in Kyoto Scar Scale,Japan Scar Worksh.p Scale and Vancouver Scar Scale *** results of th.s review indicate keloidectomy followed by radiation th.rapy provide satisfactory recurrence rates;h.wever,clinical studies evaluating th.se treatments do not describe treatment outcomes or use different definitions of keloid ***,recurrence rates vary widely,making comparisons across studies *** recurrence sh.uld be clearly defined using both.objective and subjective measures.

Th. Kooh.Sh.h.region located in a Tertiary volcanic-plutonic belt of th. Lut Block in eastern Iran comprises several subvolcanic intermediate to acidic intrusive rocks, diorite to syenite in composition, wh.ch.h.ve intruded into volcanic rocks. Th. Kooh.Sh.h.granitoid rocks are ch.racterized by enrich.ent in large ion-lith.ph.le elements （LILE： e.g. Sr, Ba, Rb） and depletion in h.gh.field-strength.elements （h.SE： e.g. Nb, Ta, Ti）. Th. ch.ndrite-normalized REE patterns are ch.racterized by moderate LREE enrich.ent （La/Yb）N=6.01-10.01, medium-h.avy REE enrich.ent, and absence of Eu anomalies. Th. Kooh.Sh.h.intrusive rocks are metaluminous, sh.sh.nitic with.calc-alkaline affinity and h.gh.values of magnetic susceptibility, and classified as th. magnetite-series of oxidant I-type granitoids. Th. age of Kooh.Sh.h.granitoid rocks based on zircon U-Pb age dating is 39.7±0.7 Ma （=Middle Eocene） and th. ranges of th.ir initial 87Sr/86Sr and 143Nd/144Nd ratios are from 0.704812 to 0.704920 and 0.512579 to 0.512644, respectively, wh.n recalculated to an age of 39 Ma. Th. initial ？Nd isotope values for th. Kooh.Sh.h.intrusive rocks range from -0.18 to 1.09. Th.s geoch.mical data indicates th.t th. Kooh.Sh.h.granitoid rocks formed from depleted mantle in an island arc setting. Th. geoch.mical signature of th. studied granitoid rocks represents a ch.racteristic guide for future exploration of copper-gold porph.ry-type deposits in th. Lut block.

Introduction: Ph.toepilation by lasers is a popular procedure in aesth.tic dermatology for removing unwanted body and facial h.ir. Th. use of th. most appropriate laser wavelength.is crucial as it affects treatment depth.and melanin absorption. Th. th.ee commonly used h.ir removal lasers are of specific wavelength.: 755 nm, 810 nm, and 1064 nm, each.preferred certain types of skin and h.ir ch.racteristics. Th. current evaluation reports th. safety and efficacy of unique blended modes 755/810 nm and 810/1064 nm diode lasers for h.ir removal. Meth.ds: h.ir removal results from 50 patients treated with.th. 755/810 nm h.ndpiece and 50 patients treated with.th. 810/1064 nm h.ndpiece were gath.red from a few clinics. 3 treatments on various body areas were conducted 6 weeks apart and patients were followed up with.6 month. after th. last treatment. Results were evaluated by baseline, follow-up ph.tograph., and h.ir counts. Results: Treatment area ph.tos demonstrated h.ir reduction in th. treated body and facial areas. Average h.ir count reduction at 6 month. follow-up was 84% for th. 755/810 nm h.ndpiece and 81% for th. 810/1064 nm h.ndpiece. No significant or unexpected adverse events were detected in any of th. patients. Conclusions: Th. novel blended mode h.ir removal diode lasers are proven to be safe and effective for h.ir removal in facial and body areas for patients of various skin types and h.ir ch.racteristics.

Th. purpose of th.s study is to evaluate th. Spectral Angle Mapper （SAM） classification meth.d for determining th. optimum th.esh.ld （maximum spectral angle） to unveil th. h.droth.rmal mineral assemblages related to mineral deposits. Th. study area indicates good potential for Cu-Au porph.ry, epith.rmal gold deposits and h.droth.rmal alteration well developed in arid and semiarid climates, wh.ch.makes th.s region significant for Advanced Spaceborne Th.rmal Emission and Reflection Radiometer （ASTER） image processing analysis. Given th.t ach.eving an acceptable mineral mapping requires knowing th. alteration patterns, petroch.mistry and petrogenesis of th. igneous rocks wh.le considering th. effect of weath.ring, overprinting of supergene alteration, overprinting of h.pogene alteration and h.st rock spectral mixing, SAM classification was implemented for argillic, sericitic, propylitic, alunitization, silicification and iron oxide zones of six previously known mineral deposits： Mah.rabad, a Cu-Au porph.ry system; Sh.ikh.bad, an upper part of Cu-Au porph.ry system; Kh.onik, an Intrusion related Au system; Barmazid, a low sulfidation epith.rmal system; Kh.pik, a Cu-Au porph.ry system; and h.nish. an epith.rmal Au system. Th.s, th. investigation sh.wed th.t alth.ugh.th. wh.le alteration zones are affected by mixing, it is also possible to produce a favorable h.droth.rmal mineral map by such.complementary data as petrology, petroch.mistry and alteration patterns.

Th. amenability of a refractory ore to th. extraction of gold and silver by cyanide leach.ng was investigated. Diagnostic leach.ng tests were also performed to sh.d ligh. on th. refractory ch.racteristics of ore. Th. leach.ng tests sh.w th.t th. extraction of gold and silver is consistently low, i.e. ≤47% and ≤19.2%, respectively, over a leach.ng period of 24 h. Even fine grinding (e.g. h. recovery of gold and silver. Diagnostic leach.ng approach.provides information into th. cause of th. refractoriness of th. ore. Th. findings suggest th.t th. refractoriness is induced by th. dissemination and encapsulation of th. very fine gold and silver particles largely in th. carbonates, oxides and sulfides and, to a small extent, with.silicates present in th. ore matrix. Th.se findings h.gh.igh. th. practical importance of diagnostic leach.ng for th. understanding of th. refractory ch.racteristic of such.an ore and for th. identification of possible pretreatment options to overcome its refractoriness prior to cyanide leach.ng.

h.re, we report a meth.d th.t uses gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） to enh.nce th. specificity of DNA h.bridization with.ut reducing its detection sensitivity. Th. conventional stringent wash.meth.d utilizes h.gh.temperatureflow-salt conditions to enh.nce th. specificity of DNA h.bridization-based assays. Th.s meth.d creates a destabilizing environment for base pairing th.t affects specific and nonspecific duplexes. Th.refore, specificity is ach.eved at th. expense of signal intensity or sensitivity. h.wever, in th. proposed wash.meth.d, AuNPs predominantly destabilize nonspecific duplexes, offering specificity with.ut compromising sensitivity. Th.s AuNP wash.tech.ique h.s proven to be effective in detecting single nucleotide polymorph.sms （SNPs） in genomic samples even at room temperature in a CD-like NanoBioArray （CD-NBA） ch.p. Th.s meth.d is also robust with.sequence variation and is compatible with.multiplex DNA analyses on microarrays. Th.s, th. AuNP wash.meth.d could potentially be useful for improving th. accuracy of DNA h.bridization results.

Isoth.rmal meth.ds, such.as h.licase-dependent amplification （h.A）, h.ve an advantage over polymerase ch.in reaction for DNA amplification owing to th.ir ease of operation. h.re, we developed a new h.A meth.d th.t is nanoparticle-assisted, termed nanoh.A. Th.s meth.d uses gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） to improve th. sensitivity and specificity of th. isoth.rmal meth.d. In h.A, th. denaturation of DNA templates is mediated by h.licases, but th.s meth.d is limited by th. low denaturation efficiency of h.licases. In th.s report, AuNPs with.preferential affinity for single-stranded DNA （ssDNA） were utilized to improve th. denaturation efficiency of h.licases. Th. same affinity property of nanoparticles can also enh.nce specificity by suppressing primer-dimer formation. Th.s nanoh.A meth.d was employed to genotype th. KRAS gene in genomic DNA samples from colorectal cancer patients, as ach.eved by th. h.bridization of nanoh.A amplicons using th. NanoBioArray ch.p.
