low symptomatic COVID-19 in an elderly patient with follicular lymphoma treated with rituximab-based immunotherapy:A case report

BACKGROUND Follicular lymphoma is an indolent lymphoma that may progress to a highly aggressive form requiring *** regimens utilize rituximab,an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody,which may affect the clinical course of novel coronavirus,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infections[coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)].Here we describe the first case of mild COVID-19 during ongoing oncological treatment without significant deterioration after rituximab *** SUMMARY A 74-year-old female with an enlargement of her right palatine tonsil was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma following tonsillectomy and started immunochemotherapy according to the rituximab,cyclophosphamide,vincristine,prednisone *** home before the fourth cycle,she developed nonspecific symptoms(excessive fatigue,loss of appetite and nausea),misdiagnosed as adverse effects of ***,interim positron emission tomography-computed tomography scan,performed shortly before rituximab administration,revealed previously nonexistent pulmonary changes,potentially of infectious ***-CoV-2 infection was confirmed by a nasopharyngeal swab(with reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction test)performed the following *** rituximab infusion,the patient remained oligosymptomatic and was discharged home for *** reached a negative SARS-CoV-2 status before the subsequently scheduled regimen,the patient successfully received six cycles of rituximab,cyclophosphamide,vincristine,prednisone and obtained complete remission by positron emission tomographycomputed *** Our case shows that rituximab-based immunotherapy due to follicular lymphoma may have no evident negative effect on the COVID-19 clinical course.

Soil micromorphological and physical properties after application of composts with polyethylene and biocomponent-derived polymers added during composting

Composts are considered to be one of the best soil amendments. However, the effects of composts with added polymeric materials on soil physical,hydraulic, and micromorphological properties have not been widely discussed. Changes in soil physical properties influence the numerous services that soils provide. We studied the impacts of composts with the addition of three different polymers(F1–F3) produced from polyethylene and thermoplastic corn starch on the physical, hydraulic, and micromorphological properties of two soils, a Cambic Phaeozem and a luvic Phaeozem. Applying composts with polymers had limited or no significant effect on soil bulk density and porosity, but increased the field water capacity by 18%–82% and 3%–6% and the plant-available water content by 15%–23% and 4%–17% for the Cambic Phaeozem and luvic Phaeozem, respectively. The application of composts with polymers had a greater effect on the Cambic Phaeozem than on the luvic Phaeozem. It was suggested that the use of modified composts led to changes in soil physical properties and micromorphological features and this effect was dependent on the compost application rate. Composts made with the addition of composite synthetic and natural material-derived polymers during composting were found to be a composite mixture that can be successfully used in agriculture.

This review reflects upon our own as well as other investigators’studies on the role of receptor for advanced glycation end-products(RAGE),bringing up the latest information on RAGE in physiology and pathology of the nervous *** the last ten years,major progress has been made in uncovering many of RAGE-ligand interactions and signaling pathways in nervous tissue;however,the translation of these discoveries into clinical practice has not come to fruition *** is likely,in part to be the result of our incomplete understanding of this crucial signaling *** trials examining the therapeutic efficacy of blocking RAGE-external ligand interactions by genetically engineered soluble RAGE or an endogenous RAGE antagonist,has not stood up to its promise;however,other trials with different blocking agents are being considered with hope for therapeutic success in diseases of the nervous system.

With the advancement of computational network science,its research scope has significantly expanded beyond static graphs to encompass more complex *** introduction of streaming,temporal,multilayer,and hypernetwork approaches has brought new possibilities and imposed additional *** instance,by utilising these advancements,one can model structures such as social networks in a much more refined manner,which is particularly relevant in simulations of the spreading ***,the pace of advancement is often too rapid for existing computational packages to keep up with the functionality *** results in a significant proliferation of tools used by researchers and,consequently,a lack of a universally accepted technological stack that would standardise experimental methods(as seen,e.g.,in machine learning).This article addresses that issue by presenting an extended version of the Network Diffusion ***,a survey of the existing approaches and toolkits for simulating spreading phenomena is shown,and then,an overview of the framework ***,we report four case studies conducted with the package to demonstrate its usefulness:the impact of sanitary measures on the spread of COVID-19,the comparison of information diffusion on two temporal network models,and the effectiveness of seed selection methods in the task of influence maximisation in multilayer *** conclude the paper with a critical assessment of the library and the outline of still awaiting challenges to standardise research environments in computational network science.

[Recent progress in mass spectrometry imaging using nanospray desorption electrospray ionization]

Ambient mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) enables hundreds of analytes in tissue sections to be directly mapped at atmospheric pressure with minimal sample preparation. This field is currently experiencing rapid growth, with numerous reported ambient ionization techniques resulting in a "hundred flowers bloom" situation. Nanospray desorption electrospray ionization (nano-DESI), developed by the laskin group in 2010, is a widely used liquid-extraction-based ambient ionization technique that was first used for mass spectrometry imaging of tissue in 2012. The nano-DESI probe comprises a primary capillary and a nanospray capillary, with the latter efficiently transferring analyte-containing droplets via a tiny liquid bridge formed between the probe and sample surface, thereby enabling nanoelectrospray ionization (nano-ESI) in front of the inlet of a mass spectrometer. The advantages of nano-DESI MSI include minimal sample preparation, high spatial resolution, and high sensitivity. These features are well-suited for imaging various sample types, including frozen tissue sections, microbial communities, and environmental samples. A PubMed-database search using the "nano-DESI" keyword revealed 72 related articles in the 2010-2024 period, with 34 of them published between 2021 and 2024, which indicates that nano-DESI has rapidly developed as an ambient ionization technique over recent years. Herein, we briefly introduce key nano-DESI-MSI research progress reported in the past three years with the aim of better understanding and facilitating the use of this technology. We first discuss advances in ion-source development. Since no commercial nano-DESI source exists, designing and constructing ion sources remain technical challenges that limit its development. The g-factor measurement as an ultimate test for nuclear chirality

We present results of a series of experiments aimed at finding the most direct fingerprints of a phenomenon of nuclear chirality. These experiments brought a detailed knowledge of the so called partner bands in 132la, 128Cs and 126Cs including absolute values of E2 and M1 transition probabilities obtained through the DSA (Doppler Shift Attenuation) method. Considering the indirect character of observables such as energies and transition rates we proposed measurement of the g-factor of a chosen state as a direct, ultimate test of chirality. Our experiment on the bandhead of partner bands in 128Cs showed feasibility of this approach. Measured value of the g-factor which suggests non-chiral character of this state leads to another puzzle in the chirality studies — how the chirality emerges with increasing spin of levels along a partner band.

Influence of Nonionic Surfactant Addition on Drag Reduction of Water Based Nanofluid in a Small Diameter Pipe

The goal of this research was to determine the impact of nonionic surfactants on drag reduction effect in water and metal oxide nanofluid. Two nonionic surfactants （Rokacet 07 and Rokanol KT） and copper（II） oxide wa- ter-based nanofluid were examined. Friction factors in a 4 mm diameter pipe for the Reynolds number between 8000 and 50000 were determined. Results showed that addition of nonionic surfactants caused the decrease of fric- tion factor in water and nanofluid. The drag reduction effect was similar in both cases. Presence of nanoparticles in the system has no great influence on drag reduction effect.

High performance corrosion and wear resistant composite titanium nitride layers produced on the AZ91D magnesium alloy by a hybrid method
