Distribution and Influence of Iron Phases on the Physico-Chemical Properties of Phyllosilicates

Clay minerals from different Cretaceous stratigraphic successions of Egypt were investigated using XRD, DTA, dissolution analysis (DCB), IR, Mssbauer and X\|ray Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopes. The purity of the samples and the degree of their structural order were determined by XRD. The location of Fe in the octahedral sheet is characterized by absorption bands at ～875cm\+\{-1\} assigned as Al\|OH\|Fe which persist after chemical dissolution of free iron. The Mssbauer spectra of these clays show two doublets with isomer shift and quadrupole splitting typical of octahedrally coordinated Fe\+\{3+\}, in addition to third doublet with hyperfine parameter typical of Fe\+\{2+\} in the spectra of Abu\|Had kaolinite (H) sample. Six\|lines magnetic hyperfine components which are consistent with those of hematite are confirmed in the spectra of both Isel and Rish kaolinite samples. Goethite was confirmed by both IR and DTA. Multiple nature of ESR of these clays suggested structural Fe in distorted octahedral symmetry as well as non\|structural Fe.\; Little dispersion and low swelling indices as well as incomplete activation of the investigated montmorillonite samples by NaCO\-3 appear to be due to incomplete disaggregation of montmorillonite particles. This can be explained by the ability of Fe\|gel to aggregate the montmorillonite into pseudo\|particles and retard the rigid\|gel structure. However, extraction of this ferric amorphous compound by dithonite treatment recovers the surface properties of the montmorillonite samples.\; On the other hand, the amount and site occupation of Fe associated with kaolinite samples show an inverse correlation with the parameters used to describe the degree of crystallinity perfection, color, brightness and vitrification range of these kaolinite samples.

Although approved as an alcohol-abuse drug,disulfiram(DSF)exhibited potential anticancer activity when chelated with copper(Cu).However,the low level of intrinsic Cu,toxicity originated from exogenous Cu supplementation,and poor stability of DSF in vivo severely limited its application in cancer ***,we proposed an in situ DSF antitumor efficacy triggered system,taking advantages of Cu-based metal-organic framework(MOF).In detail,DSF was encapsulated into Cu-MOF nanoparticles(NPs)during its formation,and the obtained NPs were coated with hyaluronic acid to enhance the tumor targetability and ***,DSF loaded Cu-MOF NPs maintained stability and integrity without Cu;leakage in blood circulation,thus showing excellent *** accumulating at tumor site,NPs were internalized into tumor cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis and released DSF and Cu;simultaneously in the hyaluronidase-enriched and acidic intracellular tumor *** profile lead to in situ chelation reaction between DSF and Cu;,generating toxic DSF/Cu complex against tumor *** in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated the programmed degradation and recombination property of Cu-based MOF NPs,which facilitated the tumor-specific chemotherapeutic effects of *** system provided a promising strategy for the application of DSF in tumor therapy.

Professional identity, wellness, and future hope among nurse interns in Egypt

Correlation between Vulvar Symptoms Stratification and Vulvar Cancer Detection: Prospective Cohort Observational Study

Background: The incidence of cancer vulva is increasing. 50% of cases are occurring at younger age especially the type related to Human Papilloma Virus infection. Cancer vulva can be prevented. Awareness of cancer vulva is deficient among women and healthcare providers. In this study we looked for a correlation between the most significant vulval symptoms to be associated with cancer vulva in order to educate women and to provide guidance for the health care providers. Methods: 569 women were enrolled in this observational cohort study. The patients were stratified according to their symptoms into 5 groups. Biopsy from the vulva, unless the lesion is obviously benign. Results: Vulvar lesion, as a symptom (mass-ulcer), was significantly associated with detection of vulvar cancer (P ≤ 0.001). 100% of those women presented with vulvar lesions (mass or ulcer) had cancer. Positive predictive value (PPV) of vulvar lesion alone was 1.25% but the probability of detection of a cancer dramatically increased when the lesion was accompanied with bleeding 35.2% or pain 26.9% respectively. Conclusion: Presenting symptoms other than a lesion in the vulva as for example, soreness, irritation or bleeding was rarely associated with detection of cancer.

Removal of Reactive Dye from Textile Mill Wastewater by Leading Electro-Coagulation Process Using Aluminum as a Sacrificial Anode

This work presents the highest color removal efficiency for Textile wastewater by Electrocoagulation (EC) process using Aluminum as a sacrificial anode which is presently used for the purification of many types of water and wastewater. The effecting parameters such as applied electrical current, electrolysis time and initial pH were studied to achieve higher removals. In this process, sample was taken from real effluent of reactive dyes fabric. The performance of Electrocoagulation process was carried out in batch reactor at regular interval of 20 minutes. Obtained results indicated the most effective color removal efficiency was achieved at 0.75A of applied electrical Current. They were (97.5% - 98.1%), at electrolysis time of 120 minutes, pH10, pH7 respectively and COD removal efficiency was (54 % - 65%) at 0.75A, 0.9A respectively. In this work, the initial pH did not strongly affect the removal efficiencies significantly over a wide range. Therefore, adjustment of initial pH before treatment was not required in this practical application. The power consumption was found to be 6 kWh/m3. To determine COD removal rate dependency to electrical current, a kinetic study was carried out and data were in good covenant with the first order kinetic model.

Can Sitaglipten Attenuate Hypertension, Myocardial Changes and Vascular Reactivity Induced by Long Term Blockade of Nitric Oxide Synthesis in the Rat?

Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an incretin hormone with insulinotropic properties that regulates glucose metabolism. GLP-1 receptors are the most extensively key modulators of lipid and glucose homeostasis. They are predominantly expressed in adipose tissues, some non adipose tissues including heart, kidney, spleen, and all relevant cells of the vasculature: endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and macrophages. The vascular distribution suggests their involvement in the control of cardiovascular function. Objective: The present experiment was designed to study the effect of sitaglipten alone or in combination with captopril on blood pressure, antioxidant enzymes, vascular reactivity and cardiac hypertrophy in NG-nitro-L-arginine methylester (L-NAME) induced hypertension in rats. Methods: One hundred male albino rats weighing from 150 - 200 g were included in this study. Rats were divided into two main groups. Group I, (20 rats) served as a control group for group II, and received 1 ml of physiological saline (0.9%), orally for seven weeks. Group II: hypertensive group, (80 rats) was given daily L-NAME in a dose of 40 mg/kg orally for seven weeks. Rats were further subdivided into A, B, C, and D, each of 20 rats. Group-A, received 1 ml of distilled water daily orally for six weeks, starting one week after L-NAME administration. Groups B, C and D were treated with daily sitaglipten (10 mg/kg ***. orally) and captopril (100 mg/kg ***. orally), alone or together for six weeks. Blood pressure, serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), body weight (BW) and heart weight (HW) were measured. Malondialdehyde (MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were estimated in cardiac tissues. Thoracic aorta was isolated and the aortic rings were allowed to achieve maximal tension by cumulative addition of phenylephrine (PE) (10-9-10-5 M) to the bath solution. Results: Sitaglipten and captopril, alone or together produced significant decreases in blood pressure and TNF-α. H

Could Surgery Improve Survival in Patients with Advanced Endometrial Cancer?

Background: Patients with endometrial cancer are mostly diagnosed at an early stage. But unfortunately 10% to 15% of endometrial cancer patients will present with advanced-stage disease, and hence poorer prognosis. When disease is primarily intraperitoneal, cytoreduction to 1 cm, p < 0.001. Also cases with type I endometrial cancer had significantly longer (DFS) than those diagnosed to have type II endometrial cancer, p = 0.046. Conclusion: Primary complete cytoreductive (upfront) surgery when possible has a favorable impact on overall survival in patients with advanced endometrial cancer.

A Review of Promising Electrocoagulation Technology for the Treatment of Wastewater

A review of the literature published on topics interrelated to electrochemical treatment within wastewater by using sacrificial anodes was presented. Electrocoagulation (EC) is a technique used for water and has a great ability on various wastewater treatments, industrial processed water, and medical treatment. It has potential in removing various pollutants such as chemical oxygen demand turbidity, ammonia, color, and suspended solid. One of the most necessities industries is Textile industries which release large volumes of wastewater that contains different dyes. Azo dyes contain strong N = N bond which is not easily broken by conventional methods. The discharge of this type of wastewater to natural watercourse can pose serious environmental impacts to aquatic life. Electrocoagulation (EC) method depends on several factors as electrode material, current density, operation time and PH. The review describes, discusses and compares the types of that electrode influencing the EC process in various wastewater and leachate. Both operating costs and electrical energy consumption values were found to vary greatly depending on the type of electrodes material and solution being treated.
