Background:Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs) are group of chronic inflammatory illnesses with a remitting and relapsing course that may result in appreciable morbidity and high medical costs secondary to repeated *** study's objectives were to identify the reasons for hospitalization among patients with IBDs,and compare inpatient courses and readmission rates for IBD-related admissions versus non-IBD-related ***:A retrospective chart review was performed on all patients with IBD admitted to the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs(VA) Medical center between September 2010 and September ***:A total of 111 patients with IBD were admitted during the 2-year study *** flares/complications accounted for 36.9% of the index *** events comprised the second most common cause of admissions(14.4%) in IBD *** with an index admission directly related to IBD were significantly younger and had developed IBD more ***,the IBD admission group had significantly more gastrointestinal endoscopies and abdominal surgeries,and was more likely to be started on medication for IBD during the index *** median length of stay(LOS) for the index hospitalization for an IBD flare or complication was 4(2–8) days compared with 2(1–4) days for the other patients(P=0.001).A smaller percentage of the group admitted for an IBD flare/complication had a shorter IcU stay compared with the other patients(9.8% vs.15.7%,respectively); however,their IcU LOSs tended to be longer(4.5 vs.2.0 days,respectively,P=0.17).compared to the other admission types,an insignificantly greater percentage of the group whose index admission was related to an IBD flare or complication had at least one readmission within 6 months of discharge(29% versus 21%; P=0.35).The rate of admission was approximately 80% greater in the group whose index admission was related to an IBD flare or complication compared to the other types of admis

As a classical problem,covariance estimation has drawn much attention from the statistical com-munity for *** work has been done under the frequentist and Bayesian *** to quantify the uncertainty of the estimators without having to choose a prior,we have developed a fiducial approach to the estimation of covariance *** upon the Fiducial Berstein-von Mises Theorem,we show that the fiducial distribution of the covariate matrix is consistent under our ***,the samples generated from this fiducial distri-bution are good estimators to the true covariance matrix,which enable us to define a meaningful confidence region for the covariance ***,we also show that the fiducial approach can be a powerful tool for identifying clique structures in covariance matrices.

AIM：To investigate the association of variations in the cyclooxygenase-2 （cOX2） and uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A6 （UGTIA6） genes and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs （NSAIDs） use with risk of colon ***： NSAIDs, which are known to reduce the risk of colon cancer, act directly on cOX2 and reduce its activity. Epidemiological studies have associated variations in the cOX2 gene with colon cancer risk, but others were unable to replicate this finding. Similarly,enzymes in the UGT1A6 gene have been demonstrated to modify the therapeutic effect of NSAIDs on colon adenomas. Polymorphisms in the UGTIA6 gene have been statistically shown to interact with NSAID intake to influence risk of developing colon adenomas, but not colon cancer. Here we examined the association of tagging single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in the cOX2 and UGTIA6 genes, and their interaction with NSAID consumption, on risk of colon cancer in a population of 422 colon cancer cases and 481 population ***： No SNP in either gene was individually statistically significantly associated with colon cancer, nor did they statistically significantly change the protective effect of NSAID consumption in our sample. Like others, we were unable to replicate the association of variants in the cOX2 gene with colon cancer risk （P 〉 0.05）,and we did not observe that these variants modify the protective effect of NSAIDs （P 〉 0.05）. We were able to confirm the lack of association of variants in UGT1A6 with colon cancer risk, although further studies will have to be conducted to confirm the association of these variants with colon ***： Our study does not support a role of cOX2 and UGTIA6 genetic variations in the development of colon cancer.

One-carbon compounds,such as methanol,are becoming potential alternatives to sugars as feedstocks for the biological production of chemicals,fuels,foods,and *** biological production often requires extensive genetic manipulation of a microbial host strain,making well-characterised and geneticallytractable model organisms like the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae attractive targets for the engineering of methylotrophic *** strains S288c and *** are the two best-characterised and most widely used hosts for yeast synthetic biology and metabolic engineering,yet they have unpredictable metabolic phenotypes related to their many genomic *** therefore sought to benchmark these two strains as potential hosts for engineered methylotrophic metabolism by comparing their growth and transcriptomic responses to *** had improved growth in the presence of methanol relative to the S288c derivative *** *** transcriptome also had a specific and relevant response to methanol that was either absent or less pronounced in the BY4741 *** response included up-regulation of genes associated with mitochondrial and peroxisomal metabolism,alcohol and formate dehydrogenation,glutathione metabolism,and the global transcriptional regulator of metabolism ***-expression of MIG3 enabled improved growth in the presence of methanol,suggesting that MIG3 is a mediator of the superior *** strain *** was therefore identified as a superior strain for the future development of synthetic methylotrophy in ***.

Introduction:The chesapeake Bay was once renowned for expansive meadows of submerged aquatic vegetation(SAV).However,only 10%of the original meadows *** restoration effortswill be complicated by accelerating climate change,including physiological stressors such as a predicted mean temperature increase of 2-6℃and a 50-160%increase in cO_(2)***:As the chesapeake Bay begins to exhibit characteristics of a subtropical estuary,summer heat waves will become more frequent and *** alone would eventually eliminate eelgrass(Zostera marina)from the *** will favor native heat-tolerant species such as widgeon grass(Ruppia maritima)while facilitating colonization by non-native seagrasses(e.g.,Halodule spp.).Intensifying human activity will also fuel coastal zone acidification and the resulting high cO_(2)/low pH conditions may benefit SAV via a“cO_(2)fertilization effect.”Discussion:Acidification is known to offset the effects of thermal stress and may have similar effects in estuaries,assuming water clarity is sufficient to support cO_(2)-stimulated photosynthesis and plants are not overgrown by ***,coastal zone acidification is variable,driven mostly by local biological processes that may or may not always counterbalance the effects of regional *** precarious equipoise between two forces-thermal stress and acidification-will be critically important because it may ultimately determine the fate of cool-water plants such as Zostera marina in the chesapeake ***:The combined impacts of warming,coastal zone acidification,water clarity,and overgrowth of competing algae will determine the fate of SAV communities in rapidly changing temperate estuaries.

A new 1D silver cluster-assembled complex Ag_(10)bpy-cH_3cN exhibiting intense photoluminescence was reported. Upon the loss of coordinated acetonitrile, Ag_(10)bpy-cH_3cN form Ag_(10)bpy with Ag_(10)S_6 cores slightly distorted, being accompanied with photoluminescence quenching. Inverse process can be realized by treating Ag_(10)bpy with acetonitrile and shows a selectively erasable photoluminescent switch.

腹腔镜下胰体尾切除术目前已经成为治疗胰腺体尾部肿瘤的标准术式。而腹腔镜下保留脾脏的胰体尾切除术由于可保留脾脏功能,减少脾切除术后并发症,越来越受到重视。然而,胰腺肿瘤发病隐匿、解剖位置复杂,这些对其诊断和保留脾脏的胰体尾切除术带来了挑战。近年来,我们团队积累了丰富的胰腺肿瘤诊疗经验,创新提出“SELEcT”(S-Single-Operator cholangiopancreatoscopy,E-ERcP,L-Laparoscopy,E-Endoscopic ultrasound,c-choledochoscopy/confocal laser endomicroscopy,T-Traditional chinese medicine)多镜组合中西医微创诊治理念。根据胰腺肿瘤的类型及特点,应用多种内镜和腹腔镜技术,多种不同微创诊疗方法的优选组合,围手术期采用中医药,进行中西医结合加速康复。将SELEcT理念充分应用于腹腔镜下保留脾脏的胰体尾切除术,有利于术前精准诊断、术中精准切除、术后并发症预判和治疗,一站式诊治胰腺肿瘤,使病人利益最大化。
