Influence of tectonic preservation conditions on the nanopore structure of shale reservoir: A case study of Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation shale in western Hubei area, south China

Tectonism is one of the dominant factors affecting the shale pore structure. However, the control of shale pore structure by tectonic movements is still controversial, which limits the research progress of shale gas accumulation mechanism in the complex tectonic region of southern China. In this study, 34 samples were collected from two exploratory wells located in different tectonic locations. Diverse experiments,e.g., organic geochemistry, XRD analysis, FE-SEM, low-pressure gas adsorption, and high-pressure mercury intrusion, were conducted to fully characterize the shale reservoir. The TOC, Ro, and mineral composition of the shale samples between the two wells are similar, which reflects that the shale samples of the two wells have proximate pores-generating capacity and pores-supporting ***, the pore characteristics of shale samples from two wells are significantly different. Compared with the stabilized zone shale, the porosity, pore volume, and specific surface area of the deformed zone shale were reduced by 60.61%, 64.85%, and 27.81%, respectively. Moreover, the macroscopic and fine pores were reduced by 54.01% and 84.95%, respectively. Fault activity and uplift denudation are not conducive to pore preservation, and the rigid basement of Huangling uplift can promote pore preservation. These three factors are important reasons for controlling the difference in pore structure between two wells shales. We established a conceptual model of shale pores evolution under different tectonic preservation conditions. This study is significant to clarify the scale of shale gas formation and enrichment in complex tectonic regions, and helps in the selection of shale sweet spots.

Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)is a promising biodegradable flexible polymer but suffers from slow crystallization rate,making it less attractive for some applications like the injection-molded products in comparison with low-density polyethylene(LDPE).This work aimed to accelerate the crystallization of PBAT by adding a self-assembly nucleating agent octamethylenedicarboxylic dibenzoylhydrazide(OMBH).PBAT/OMBH composites with various OMBH contents(0 wt%,0.5 wt%,0.7 wt%,1 wt%,2 wt%,3 wt%and 5 wt%)were prepared through *** effect of OMBH on the crystallization behavior,morphologies and mechanical properties of PBAT was *** highest nucleation efficiency value of 59.6%was achieved for PBAT with 0.7 wt%OMBH,much higher than that of 22.7%for PBAT with 0.7 wt%*** force microscopy results showed that OMBH formed fine fibers and induced the formation of transcrystalline layers of *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)combined with two-dimensional correlation spectra suggested that the intermolecular dipole-dipole N—H…O=C interactions but not hydrogen bond between OMBH and PBAT promoted the crystallization of PBAT in the initial period of *** presence of OMBH did not change the crystal form of PBAT but had positive contribution in enhancing its crystallinity and mechanical *** work is essential for preparing PBAT with high crystallization rate,enhancing its potential applications in injection-molded products.

Reactive transport modeling(RTM) is an emerging method used to address geological issues in diagenesis research. However, the extrapolation of RTM results to practical reservoir prediction is not sufficiently understood. This paper presents a case study of the Eocene Qaidam Basin that combines RTM results with petrological and mineralogical evidence. The results show that the Eocene Xiaganchaigou Formation is characterized by mixed siliciclastic-carbonate-evaporite sedimentation in a semiclosed saline lacustrine environment. Periodic evaporation and salinization processes during the syngeneticpenecontemporaneous stage gave rise to the replacive genesis of dolomites and the cyclic enrichment of dolomite in the middle-upper parts of the meter-scale depositional sequences. The successive change in mineral paragenesis from terrigenous clastics to carbonates to evaporites was reconstructed using RTM simulations. Parametric uncertainty analyses further suggest that the evaporation intensity(brine salinity) and particle size of sediments(reactive surface area) were important rate-determining factors in the dolomitization, as shown by the relatively higher reaction rates under conditions of higher brine salinity and fine-grained sediments. Combining the simulation results with measured mineralogical and reservoir physical property data indicates that the preservation of original intergranular pores and the generation of porosity via replacive dolomitization were the major formation mechanisms of the distinctive lacustrine dolomite reservoirs(widespread submicron intercrystalline micropores) in the Eocene Qaidam Basin. The results confirm that RTM can be effectively used in geological studies, can provide a better general understanding of the dolomitizing fluid-rock interactions, and can shed light on the spatiotemporal evolution of mineralogy and porosity during dolomitization and the formation of lacustrine dolomite reservoirs.

The use of high-permittivity(high-k) thin films as gate dielectrics is essential in the development of lowpower electronics,In this work,rare-earth thulium oxide(Tm_(2)O_(3)) thin films were prepared by a facile solution process and annealed at various temperatures from 400 to 700℃.The evolution of the physical and dielectric properties of Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film with annealing temperature was *** is demonstrated that the Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film annealed at 600℃ exhibits the optimal performance,including a low leakage current of 3×10^(-10) A/cm^(2),a large areal capacitance of 250 nF/cm^(2) at 100 Hz,and a high permittivity value of *** Tm_(2)O_(3) thin film as a gate insulator was integrated into the thin film transistor(TFT) employing In_(2)O_(3)-based semiconducting *** In_(2)O_(3) TFT with 600℃-annealed Tm_(2)O_(3) dielectric exhibits the superior perfo rmance,with a high I_(on)/I_(off) of 1.65×10^(7),a small subthre shold swing(SS) value of 0.2 V/dec,a V_(TH) of+1.8 V,and a mobility of 1.68 cm^(2)/(V·s).Furthermore,an inverter constructed by connecting the TFT with a resistor exhibits full-swing *** work provides a facile and appealing method for preparing the high-k Tm_(2)O_(3) thin films as alternative gate dielectrics with the potential for use in low-power electronics and logic circuit applications.
