Broomcorn millet cultivation in the SW East European Plain since the second millennium BC

The early trans-Eurasian exchange and its influence on the dynamics of human-land relationships is an emerging topic involving multiple *** southwestern part of the Eastern European Plain was a key hub for early East-West *** millet,a crop domesticated in China,was introduced into the region about 3,600 years ago,significantly earlier than in other parts of *** research employs systematic archaeobotanical flotation and AMS radiocarbon dating at two sites in Romania:Baia-?n Muchie and Dobrov??.The findings demonstrate that broomcorn millet cultivation in this region has persisted for over 2,000 years,exhibiting significant diachronic *** was most intensively utilized during the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age(1200–800 BC)and the Late Roman Empire(AD 250–400),periods which were characterized by rapid climatic *** may have been cultivated as a“disaster relief”crop to mitigate the challenges posed by extreme drought and *** millet grains from the study area are similar in dimensions to those reported in East Asia;however,grains from the Romanian sites are thinner and *** route traversing the Caucasus and the northern Black Sea likely served as a key passage through which millet entered Europe from West *** research provides valuable data on the chronology of millet cultivation in the SW Eastern European Plain and enhances our understanding of early East-West exchanges and their impact on human-environment interactions in critical regions.

Background: Serum immunoglobulin A antibodies against Epstein–Barr virus(EBV), viral capsid antigen(VCA?Ig A) and early antigen(EA?Ig A), are used to screen for nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) in endemic areas. However, their routine use has been questioned because of a lack of specificity. This study aimed to determine the distributions of different subtypes of antibody and to illustrate how the natural variation patterns affect the specificity of screening in non?NPC ***: The distribution of baseline VCA?IgA was analyzed between sexes and across 10?year age groups in 18,286 non?NPC participants using Chi square tests. Fluctuations in the VCA?IgA level were assessed in 1056 non?NPC participants with at least two retests in the first 5?year period(1987–1992) after the initial screening using the Kaplan–Meier ***: The titers of VCA?Ig A increased with age(P < 0.001). Using a previous serological definition of high NPC risk, nasopharyngeal endoscopy and/or nasopharyngeal biopsy would be recommended in 55.5% of the non?NPC partici?pants with an initial VCA?Ig A?positive status and in 20.6% with an initial negative status during the 5?year follow?up. However, seroconversions were common; 85.2% of the participants with a VCA?Ig A?positive status at baseline con?verted to negative, and all VCA?Ig A?negative participants changed to positive at least once during the 5?year follow?up. The EA?Ig A status had a high seroconversion probability(100%) from positive to negative; however, it had a low probability(19.6%) from negative to ***: Age? and sex?specific cutoff titer values for serum anti?EBV antibodies as well as their specific titer fluc?tuation patterns should be considered when defining high NPC risk criteria for follow?up diagnostics and monitoring.

Background:The association of circulating inflammation markers with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is still largely *** study aimed to comprehensively explore the relationship between circulating cytokine levels and the subsequent risk of NPC with a two-stage epidemiologic study in southern ***:The serum levels of 33 inflammatory cytokines were first measured in a hospital-based case-control study(150 NPC patients and 150 controls)using multiplex assay *** levels were categorized into two or more groups based on the proportion of sample measurements that was above the lower limit of *** ratios(ORs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)relating the serum marker concentration to the risk of NPC were computed by multivariable logistic regression *** associations were validated in 60 patients with NPC and 120 con-trols in a subsequent nested case-control study within a NPC screening *** interactions between serum cytokines and Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)relating to the risk of NPC were assessed using a likelihood ratio ***:The levels of serum macrophage inflammatory protein(MIP)-1αand MIP-1βin the highest categories were associated with a decreased risk of NPC in both the case-control study(MIP-1α:OR=0.49,95%CI=0.26-0.95;MIP-1β:OR=0.47,95%CI=0.22-1.00)and the nested case-control study(MIP-1α:OR=0.13,95%CI=0.03-0.62;MIP-1β:OR=0.20,95%CI=0.04-0.94),compared with those in the lowest ***,individuals with lower levels of these two cytokine markers who were EBV seropositive presented with a largely higher risk of NPC compared with patients with higher levels who were EBV seronegative in both the case-control study(MIP-1α:OR=16.28,95%CI=7.11-37.23;MIP-1β:OR=12.86,95%CI=5.9-28.05)and the nested case-control study(MIP-1α:OR=86.12,95%CI=10.58-701.03;MIP-1β:OR=115.44,95%CI=13.92-957.73).Conclusions:Decreased preclinical MIP-1αand MIP-1βlevels might be associated with a subsequently increased risk of NPC.

As an emerging environmental contaminant,antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in tap water have attracted great *** studies have provided ARG profiles in tap water,research on their abundance levels,composition characteristics,and potential threat is still ***,9 household tap water samples were collected from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA)in ***,75 sets of environmental sample data(9 types)were downloaded from the public *** was then performed to explore the differences in the abundance and composition of ARGs.221 ARG subtypes consisting of 17 types were detected in tap *** the ARG abundance in tap water was not significantly different from that found in drinking water plants and reservoirs,their composition *** tap water samples,the three most abundant classes of resistance genes were multidrug,fosfomycin and MLS(macrolide-lincosamidestreptogramin)ARGs,and their corresponding subtypes ompR,fosX and macB were also the most abundant ARG *** the potential mobility,vanS had the highest abundance on plasmids and viruses,but the absence of key genes rendered resistance to vancomycin ***,the majority of ARGs present in tap water were those that have not been assessed and are currently not listed as high-threat level ARG families based on the World Health Organization *** the current potential threat to human health posed by ARGs in tap water is limited,with persistent transfer and accumulation,especially in pathogens,the potential danger to human health posed by ARGs should not be ignored.

Expression and clinical significance of MN1 and PTEN gene in patients with acute myeloid leukemia

Objective:The aim of our study was to explore the correlations between both the genes,evolution and prognosis of the disease by detecting the expression of MN1(meningioma 1) gene and PTEN(phosphatase and tensin homolog) gene in patients with acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Method:MN1 and PTEN mRNA were detected by reverse transcription-PCR in mononuclear cells of 38 patients with AML and 13 patients with normal bone ***:Positive rates of MN1 and PTEN genes were 76.3% and 60.5% respectively in bone marrow mononuclear *** expression level of MN1 mRNA for the de novo group increased comparing with that for normal control group(P < 0.05),the expression level of PTEN mRNA for de novo group decreased obviously comparing with that for normal control group(P < 0.01),MN1 mRNA level decreased in remission group,while PTEN mRNA level increased comparing with that in de novo group(P < 0.05).MN1 mRNA level increased and PTEN mRNA decreased in relapsed group comparing with that in control group,and their difference was statistical significance(P < 0.05).The two genes' levels had negative correlations in acute myeloid leukemia(r =-0.314,P < 0.05).Conclusion:There is close correlations between expression of MN1 and PTEN genes and the prognosis and occurrence of acute myeloid leukemia,and their expression can be taken as significant indexes to access the de novo,relapse and prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia.

Background:West Nile virus is a severe zoonotic pathogen that can cause severe central nervous system symptoms in humans and horses,and is fatal for birds,chickens and other *** no specific drugs or vaccines available,antibody-based therapy is a promising *** study aims to develop neutralizing antibodies against West Nile virus and assess their cross-protective potential against Japanese encephalitis ***:Monoclonal antibodies against WNV and JEV were isolated by hybridoma *** therapeutic efficacy of these antibodies was evaluated using a mouse model,and a humanized version of the monoclonal antibody was generated for potential human ***:In this study,we generated eight monoclonal antibodies that exhibit neutralizing activity against *** therapeutic effects against WNV were validated both in vivo and in *** these antibodies,C9-G11-F3 also exhibited cross-protective activity against *** also humanized the antibody to ensure that it could be used for WNV infection treatment in ***:This study highlights the importance of neutralizing antibodies as a promising approach for pro-tection against West Nile virus infection and suggests their potential utility in the development of therapeutic interventions.

Rapid report of source characteristics of 2025 MS6.8 Dingri,Xizang earthquake sequence

Characteristics of the main shock and aftershocks of the Dingri MS6.8 earthquake in the Xizang Autonomous region were determined by the double-difference location method using phase reports from Jan. 7 to Jan. 16, 2025. We find that the aftershocks were generally distributed in a near NS direction along the Dengmoduo fault, with a long axis of about 70 km. There is an obvious seismic gap to the north side of the main shock, which is consistent with the location of the maximum rupture point as revealed by surface survey of the rupture and inversion analysis of the rupture process. In addition, the aftershock distribution exhibits obvious north-south segmentation characteristics. These observations suggest that the seismic fault of the main shock was likely to have been the Dengmoduo fault, which is NS and slightly inclined to the west.

Iron ore pellets,as one of the main charges of blast furnaces,have a greater impact on the CO_(2)emission reduction and stable operation of blast *** isothermal reduction behavior of the pellets obtained from a Chinese steel plant was studied in the gas mixtures of CO and N_(2).The results showed the reduction process is divided into two *** reduction in the initial stage(time t≤40 min)is cooperatively controlled by internal diffusion and interface chemical reactions with the activation energy of 30.19 and 16.67 kJ/mol,*** controlling step of the reduction in the final stage(t>40 min)is internal diffusion with the activation energy of 34.60 kJ/*** reduction process can be described by two equations obtained from kinetic *** reduction degree can be predicted under different temperatures and time,and the predicted results showed an excellent correlation with the experimental *** reduction mechanisms were confirmed by the analysis of the scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometer and optical microscope.

Achievable dual-strategy to stabilize Li-rich layered oxide interface by a one-step wet chemical reaction towards long oxygen redox reversibility

Oxygen release and electrolyte decomposition under high voltage endlessly exacerbate interfacial ramifications and structu ral degradation of high energy-density Li-rich layered oxide（LLO）,leading to voltage and capacity ***,the dual-strategy of Cr,B complex coating and local gradient doping is simultaneously achieved on LLO surface by a one-step wet chemical reaction at room *** functional theory（DFT） calculations prove that stable B-O and Cr-O bonds through the local gradient doping can significantly reduce the high-energy O 2p states of interfacial lattice O,which is also effective for the near-surface lattice O,thus greatly stabilizing the LLO surface,Besides,differential electrochemical mass spectrometry（DEMS） indicates that the CrxB complex coating can adequately inhibit oxygen release and prevents the migration or dissolution of transition metal ions,including allowing speedy Li+migration,The voltage and capacity fading of the modified cathode（LLO-CrB） are adequately suppressed,which are benefited from the uniformly dense cathode electrolyte interface（CEI） composed of balanced organic/inorganic ***,the specific capacity of LLO-CrB after 200 cycles at 1C is 209.3 mA h g-1（with a retention rate of 95.1%）.This dual-strategy through a one-step wet chemical reaction is expected to be applied in the design and development of other anionic redox cathode materials.
