In this editorial we comment on the article by Chen et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Clinical *** metastasis is one of the most serious complications of breast cancer and causes high morbidity and *** metastases may involve the brain parenchyma and/or *** brain metastases develop in 10%-16%of newly recognized cases each year,and this rate increases to 30%in autopsy *** on the size of the metastatic foci,it may be accompanied by extensive vasogenic edema or may occur as small tumor *** brain metastases are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality,early diagnosis can have significant effects on survival and quality of *** risk of developing brain metastases emerges progressively due to various patient and tumor *** variability may be particularly important in the susceptibility and distribution of brain metastases because malignant blood must cross the brain barrier and move within the brain *** characteristics of the tumor,such as gene expression,may increase the risk of brain *** growth,tumor stage,tumor grade,growth receptor positivity,HER2 positivity,molecular subtype(such as triple negative status,luminal/nonluminal feature)increase the risk of developing breast cancer *** related to survival due to breast cancer brain metastasis include both tumor/patient characteristics and treatment characteristics,such as patient age,lung metastasis,surgery for brain metastasis,and HER2 *** cases with a high risk of developing brain metastasis can be identified with the help of clinical procedures and artificial intelligence,survival and quality of life can be increased with early diagnosis and *** the same time,it is important to predict the formation of this group in order to develop new treatment methods in cases with low survival expectancy with brain metastases.

In this editorial we comment on the article by Zhang et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Clinical *** cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related mortality and has the lowest survival rate among all solid *** causes 227000 deaths annually worldwide,and the 5-year survival rate is very low due to early metastasis,which is 4.6%.Cancer survival increases with better knowledge of risk factors and early and accurate *** tumor cells(CTCs)are tumor cells that intravasate from the primary tumor or metastasis foci into the peripheral blood circulation system spontan-eously or during surgical *** of CTC in blood is promising for early *** addition,studies have associated high CTC levels with a more advanced stage,and more intensive treatments should be considered in cases with high *** tumors that are considered radiologically resectable,it may be of critical importance in detecting occult metastases and preventing unnecessary surgeries.

Pavement roughness(IRI—International Roughness Index values)influence the stability of traffic movements both on intercity roads and urban *** study is to determine the exact locations of critical pavement roughness values that affect traffic motion stability and comfort in city centre highway *** data with 10 m intervals were collected on a 3140 m divided road containing three consecutive signalized intersections in the city centre *** data were analysed using the distance-dependent Mann-Kendall trend analysis method and checkerboard *** sections where roughness is important were determined at a 95%confidence *** results will show where future pavement improvements should be prioritized for municipalities and road maintenance engineers and will form a basis for the urban road management system.

Chemical preparation, X-ray single crystal diffraction, thermal analysis, electrochemical measurements, IR, Raman and UV spectroscopic investigations of a novel organic-inorganic hybrid material（CaH7N2）CdCl3（H2O）（1） were described. 1-Methylimidazolium aquapentachlorocadmate（II） crystallized in the monoclinic system with P2 1/n space group. Its structure provided a new interesting example of infinite inorganic layers of [CdCl3（H2O）]n n- centered by （-101） planes. The [CdCl5（H2O）]- anions were interconnected by O-H...Cl hydrogen bonds. Acidic protons of the chloride group were transferred to the organic molecule, giving the singly-protonated cations. The ability of ions to form a spontaneous three-dimensional structure through O-H…Cl and N-H…Cl hydrogen bonds was fully utilized. These hydrogen bonds induced notable vibrational effects. IR and Raman spectra were reported and discussed on the basis of group theoretical analysis and on quantum chemical density theory（DFT） calculation. The molecular HOMO-LUMO compositions and their respective energy gaps were also drawn to explain the activity of our compound. The role of the intermolecular interaction in this crystal was analyzed. The optical study was also investigated by UV-Vis absorption spectrum. Thermal analysis reveals the hydrous character of the compound. Cyclic voltammetry was studied to evaluate the spectral and structural changes accompanying electron transfer.

Volcanism along the northwest boundary of the Arabian Plate found in the Gaziantep Basin, southeast Turkey, is of Miocene age and is of alkaline and calc-alkaline basic composition. The rare earth element data for both compositional series indicates spinel-peridotite source areas. The rare earth and trace elements of the alkaline lavas originate from a highly primitive and slightiy contaminated asthenospheric mantle; those of the calc-alkaline lavas originate from a highly heterogeneous, asthenospheric, and lithospheric mantle source. Partial melting and magmatic differentiation processes played a role in the formation of the petrological features of these volcanics. These rocks form two groups on the basis of their 87Sr[S6Sr and 143Nd/lI4Nd isotopic compositions in addition to their classifications based on their chemical compositions （alkaline and calc-alkaline）. These isotopic differences indicate a dissimilar parental magma. Therefore, high Nd isotope samples imply a previously formed and highly primitive mantle whereas low Nd isotope samples may indicate comparable partial melting of an enriched heterogeneous shallow mantle. Other isotopic changes that do not conform to the chemical features of these lavas are partly related to the various tectonic events of the region, such as the Dead Sea Fault System and the Bitlis Suture Zone.

The removal of cadmium（Cd） from synthetic solutions by batch adsorption process was performed using eggshell powder, which is mainly composed of calcite（CaCO3）. In order to optimize the adsorption process, a re- sponse surface methodology（RSM） based on Central Composite Design（CCD） was applied. Developed model for Cd removal yields（R, %） response was statistically validated by variance analysis（ANOVA） which showed a high de- termination coefficient value（R2=0.9889）. According to Minitab software, the optimal conditions were found at tem- perature of 44℃, eggshell adsorbent dose of 2.98 g, initial Cd concentration of 36.74 mg/L and initial pH of 7. Under these conditions, the Cd removal yield was 98.76%. The deviation value of 1.24% confirms the validity of the model for the adsorption process optimization. The adsorption isotherm has been described by a Freundlich model. In addition, the predominant sorption mechanisms are the chemisorptions or precipitation（non-reversible） and ion ex- change（reversible）.

During the Late Cretaceous in the Eastern Mediterranean, the northern branch of the southern Neotethys was closed by multiple northward subductions. Of these, the most northerly located subduction created the Baskil continental arc at around 82–84 Ma. The more southerly and intra-oceanic subduction, on the other hand, produced an arc-basin system,the Yüksekova Complex, as early as the late Cenomanian–early Turonian. The abundant and relatively well-studied basaltic rocks of this complex were intruded by dykes, sills and small stocks of felsic–intermediate rocks, not previously studied in detail. The intrusives collected from five different localities in the Elazig region of eastern Turkey are all subalkaline, with low Nb/Y values. Most of them have been chemically classified as rhyodacites/dacites, whereas a small number appear to be andesites. In normal mid-ocean-ridge basalt(N-MORB)-normalised plots, the intrusives are characterised by relative enrichments in Th and La over Nb, Zr, Hf, Ti and high field strength elements(HREEs), indicating their derivation from a subduction-modified source. While their relatively high, positive εN d(i) values(+6.4 and +7.2) might suggest a depleted mantle source for their ultimate origin, somewhat radiogenic Pb values indicate a sedimentary contribution to the source of the rocks. The overall geochemical characteristics indicate their generation in an oceanic arc setting. The zircon U-Pb Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS) data obtained from five felsic-intermediate rock samples yielded intrusion dates of 80–88 Ma. This suggests that the Elazig oceanic arc-related intrusives are slightly younger than those of the Yüksekova arc-basin system, but coeval with the Baskil continental arc. However, the felsic–intermediate intrusives show different geochemical characteristics(oceanic arc-type, with a lack of crustal contamination)to those of the Baskil continental arc. Clinical outcomes of 25-gauge vitrectomy surgery for vitreoretinal diseases: comparison of vitrectomy alone and phaco-vitrectomy

AIMTo compare the clinical outcomes of combined 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and phacoemulsification/posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC-IOL) implantation with vitrectomy alone surgery in patients with various vitreoretinal *** total of 306 eyes (145 with PPV alone and 161 with phaco-vitrectomy) were enrolled in this retrospective analysis. The surgical approach was 25-gauge PPV combined with phacoemulsification and PC-IOL implantation at the same time in eyes in phaco-vitrectomy group and only PPV in eyes in vitrectomy alone surgery group. The main outcome measures were postoperative clinical outcomes included anterior chamber inflammation, changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA).RESULTSThe most common postoperative complication was anterior chamber reaction which has higher incidence in phaco-vitrectomy group (Pst day IOP of vitrectomy alone group was significantly lower than that of phaco-vitrectomy group (16.3±5.8 mm Hg vs 17.8±8.1 mm Hg, respectively, P=0.02). Hypotony (IOP≤8 mm Hg) was not different between groups in the postoperative 1st day (P>0.05). The mean preoperative visual acuity was not different between groups (1.6±0.9 logMAR vs 1.8±0.9 logMAR, respectively, P>0.05). However, the mean visual acuity was decreased in vitrectomy alone group at the final visit compared to phaco-vitrectomy group (1.2±0.8 logMAR, 0.9±0.7 logMAR, respectively P<0.05).CONCLUSIONTwenty-five gauge PPV combined with phacoemulsification surgery is a safe and efficient procedure, which can be preferred in phacic patients with a variety of vitreoretinal diseases compared to vitrectomy alone. Despite improved outcomes, this approach is not free of limitations as anterior chamber complications especially with combined surgery.
