Halorhodospira(Hlr.)halochloris is a triply extremophilic phototrophic purple sulfur bacterium,as it is thermophilic,alkaliphilic,and extremely *** light-harvesting-reaction center(LH1–RC)core complex of this bacterium displays an LH1-Q_(y)transition at 1,016 nm,which is the lowest-energy wavelength absorption among all known *** we report the cryo-EM structure of the LH1–RC at 2.42?*** LH1 complex forms a tricyclic ring structure composed of 16αβγ-polypeptides and oneαβ-heterodimer around the *** the cryo-EM density map,two previously unrecognized integral membrane proteins,referred to as protein G and protein Q,were *** of these proteins are single transmembrane-spanning helices located between the LH1 ring and the RC Lsubunit and are absent from the LH1–RC complexes of all other purple bacteria of which the structures have been determined so *** bacteriochlorophyll b molecules(B1020)located on the periplasmic side of the *** membrane,there are also two arrays of bacteriochlorophyll b molecules(B800 and B820)located on the cytoplasmic *** a single copy of a carotenoid(lycopene)was resolved in the *** LH1–α3β3 and this was positioned within the *** potential quinone channel should be the space between the LH1–α3β3 that accommodates the single lycopene but does not contain aγ-polypeptide,B800 and *** results provide a structural explanation for the unusual Q_(y)red shift and carotenoid absorption in the *** spectrum and reveal new insights into photosynthetic mechanisms employed by a species that thrives under the harshest conditions of any phototrophic microorganism known.

AIM： To investigate the release of cyclodextrin-S-amino- salicylic acid （CyD-S-ASA） in cecum and colon. METHODS： An anti-inflammatory drug 5-ASA was conjugated onto the hydroxyl groups of α-, β- and γ-cydodextrins （CyDs） through an ester linkage, and the in vivo drug release behavior of these prodrugs in rat＇ s gastrointestinal tract after the oral administration was investigated. RESULTS： The 5-ASA concentration in the rat＇s stomach and small intestine after the oral administration of CyD- 5-ASA conjugate was much lower than that after the oral administration of 5-ASA alone. The lower concentration was attributable to the passage of the conjugate through the stomach and small intestine without significant degradation or absorption, followed by the degradation of the conjugate site-specific in the cecum and colon. The oral administration of CyD-S-ASA resulted in lower plasma and urine concentration of 5-ASA than that of 5-ASA alone. CONCLUSION： CyD-5-ASA conjugates may be used as prodrugs for colon-specific drug delivery system.

Multi-model ensemble learning for battery state-of-health estimation:Recent advances and perspectives

The burgeoning market for lithium-ion batteries has stimulated a growing need for more reliable battery performance monitoring. Accurate state-of-health(SOH) estimation is critical for ensuring battery operational performance. Despite numerous data-driven methods reported in existing research for battery SOH estimation, these methods often exhibit inconsistent performance across different application scenarios. To address this issue and overcome the performance limitations of individual data-driven models,integrating multiple models for SOH estimation has received considerable attention. Ensemble learning(EL) typically leverages the strengths of multiple base models to achieve more robust and accurate outputs. However, the lack of a clear review of current research hinders the further development of ensemble methods in SOH estimation. Therefore, this paper comprehensively reviews multi-model ensemble learning methods for battery SOH estimation. First, existing ensemble methods are systematically categorized into 6 classes based on their combination strategies. Different realizations and underlying connections are meticulously analyzed for each category of EL methods, highlighting distinctions, innovations, and typical applications. Subsequently, these ensemble methods are comprehensively compared in terms of base models, combination strategies, and publication trends. Evaluations across 6 dimensions underscore the outstanding performance of stacking-based ensemble methods. Following this, these ensemble methods are further inspected from the perspectives of weighted ensemble and diversity, aiming to inspire potential approaches for enhancing ensemble performance. Moreover, addressing challenges such as base model selection, measuring model robustness and uncertainty, and interpretability of ensemble models in practical applications is emphasized. Impact of FY-3A MWTS radiances on prediction in GRAPES with comparison of two quality control schemes

The impact of Microwave Temperature Sounder （MWTS） radiances on the prediction of the Chinese Numerical Weather prediction （NWP） system-GRAPES （Global and Regional Assimilation and PrEdiction System） with comparison of two Quality Control （QC） schemes was researched. The main differences between the two schemes are cloud detection, O-B （brightness temperature difference between observation and model simulation） check and thinning. To evaluate the impact of the two QC schemes on GRAPES, a typhoon case study and cycle experiments were conducted. In the typhoon case study, two experiments were conducted using both the new and old QC schemes. The results show that outliers are removed in the new QC while they exist in the old QC. The analysis and the model forecast are subsequently generated after assimilating data from the two QC schemes. The model-predicted steering flows more southward with the new QC scheme, and as a result, the forecast track in the experiments is more southward, i.e., closer to the best track than the old scheme. In addition to the case study, four impact cycle experiments were conducted for 25-day periods. The results show that the new QC scheme removed nearly all the biases whereas the old scheme could not. Furthermore, the mean and standard deviation of analysis increments with the new scheme is much smaller than those of O-B. In contrast, the old scheme values are either slightly smaller or the same. Verifications indicate that forecast skill is improved after applying the new scheme. The largest improvements are found in the Southern Hemisphere. According to the results above, MWTS with the new QC scheme can improve the GRAPES forecast.

Large Deviations for Hitting Times of a Random Walk in Random Environment on a Strip

We consider a random walk in random environment on a strip, which is transient to the right. The random environment is stationary and ergodic. By the constructed enlarged random environment which was first introduced by Goldsheid （2008）, we obtain the large deviations conditioned on the environment （in the quenched case） for the hitting times of the random walk.

Objective: To verrify the anti-tumor efficacy and toxicity between juglone(Jug) and Jug-loaded poly lactic-co-glycolic acid(PLGA) nanoparticles(Jug-PLGA-NPs). Methods: Jug-PLGA-NPs were prepared by ultrasonic emulsification. The anti-tumor activity of Jug(2, 3, 4 μg/mL) and Jug-PLGA-NPs(Jug: 2, 3, 4 μg/mL) in vitro was measured by MTT assay and cell apoptosis analysis. The distribution, anti-tumor effect and biological safety in vivo was evaluated on A375 nude mice. Results: With the advantage of good penetration and targeting properties, Jug-PLGA-NPs significantly inhibited proliferation and migration of melanoma cells both in vitro and in vivo(P<0.05 or P<0.01) with acceptable biocompatibility. Conclusions: Jug can inhibit the growth of melanoma but is highly toxic. With the advantage of sustained release, tumor targeting, anti-tumor activity and acceptable biological safety, Jug-PLGA-NPs provide a new pharmaceutical form for future application of Jug.

The influence of the stray-light component in determining coronal temperature structures

We use a few solar partial eclipse observations made by XRT/Hinode to estimate the influence of stray-light component in determining coronal temperature structures. Our analysis shows that the stray light will largely affect the estimation of coronal temperature and change the estimated temperature structure in one coronal hole region. The stray lights mildly influence the estimated temperatures in one quiet Sun region and do not change the estimated temperature structure. This implies that the influence of stray lights differs from one region to another, and definitely needs to be considered in some regions. Whereas a carefully estimated point-spread-function is needed to remove the stray light component, our study shows that by a simple approach such as subtracting the average intensity of distant (e.g. >1.4 solar radius) points from the data values, the influence of stray light can be largely removed, at least for the two regions we study here.

Detection of radio-frequency interference signals from AMSR-E data over the United States with snow cover

Radio Frequency Interference （RFI） causes severe contamination to passive and active microwave sensing observations and corresponding retrieval products. RFI signals should be detected and filtered before applying the microwave data to retrieval and data assimilation. It is difficult to detect RFI over land surfaces covered by snow because of the scattering effect of snow surface. The double principal component analysis （DPCA） method is adopted in this study, and its ability in identifying RFI signals in AMSR-E data over snow covered regions is investigated. Results show that the DPCA method can detect RFI signals effectively in spite of the impact of snow scattering, and the detected RFI signals persistent over time. Compared to other methods, such as PCA and normalized PCA, DPCA is more robust and suitable for operational application.

Crystallographic Characteristic of Intermetallic Compounds in Al-Si-Mg Casting Alloys Using Electron Backscatter Diffraction

The Al-Si-Mg alloy which can be strengthened by heat treatment is widely applied to the key components of aerospace and aeronautics. Iron-rich intermetallic compounds are well known to be strongly influential on mechanical properties in Al-Si-Mg alloys. But intermetallic compounds in cast Al-Si-Mg alloy intermetallics are often misidentified in previous metallurgical studies. It was described as many different compounds, such as AlFeSi, Al8Fe2Si, Al5（Fe, Mn）3Si2 and so on. For the purpose of solving this problem, the intermetallic compounds in cast Al-Si alloys containing 0.5% Mg were investigated in this study. The iron-rich compounds in Al-Si-Mg casting alloys were characterized by optical microscope（OM）, scanning electron microscope（SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer（EDS）, electron backscatter diffraction（EBSD） and X-ray powder diffraction（XRD）. The electron backscatter diffraction patterns were used to assess the crystallographic characteristics of intermetallic compounds. The compound which contains Fe/Mg-rich particles with coarse morphologies was Al8FeMg3Si6 in the alloy by using EBSD. The compound belongs to hexagonal system, space group P6_2m, with the lattice parameter a=0.662 nm, c=0.792 nm. The β-phase is indexed as tetragonal Al3FeSi2, space group I4/mcm, a=0.607 nm and c=0.950 nm. The XRD data indicate that Al8FeMg3Si6 and Al3FeSi2 are present in the microstructure of Al-7Si-Mg alloy, which confirms the identification result of EBSD. The present study identified the iron-rich compound in Al-Si-Mg alloy, which provides a reliable method to identify the intermetallic compounds in short time in Al-Si-Mg alloy. Study results are helpful for identification of complex compounds in alloys.
