Electroless Plating of Thin Silver Films on Porous Al_2O_3 Substrate and the Study of Deposition Kinetics

A novel concept has been developed to coat the inner pore surfaces of reticulated alumina with a thin silver film by an electroless-plating method. As a result of coating, the porous alumina sample exhibits a sharp transition from insulating to conducting due to a thin silver layer on the inner pore surfaces. Systematic studies have been carried out to investigate the coating kinetics by employment of scanning electron microscope （SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, and computer simulation. Both coating procedures and effects of processing parameters on the quality of films are reported. Also, this paper presents the film bonding strength to the substrate, effects of sintering, and conduction mechanism of coated composite. The fundamental silver electroless-plating mechanism has been identified based on computer modeling. The simulation results indicate an excellent agreement between the silver deposition behavior and the physical model applied.

The 2-D depth-averaged mathematical model for sediment-laden flows has been widely used in river control and other related engineering problems, and now it is usually solved on structured grids. Since the natural river is usually very complicated in plane boundary, and unstructured grids are more attractive in solving the problems with complicated domains, the following questions about solving 2-D depth-averaged model were discussed in this article：（1） a modified Bowyer algorithm was suggested to generate unstructured grids for natural rivers, （2） the Finite Volume Method （FVM） is employed to discretize the governing equations of the 2-D depth-averaged model and an implicit scheme was suggested with unstructured collocated grids, （3） the observed hydrological data of the Chenglingji Reach in the Yangtze River are used for verification of the presented method It seems that the suggested numerical scheme works very well, and the simulation results of both hydraulic characteristics and river bed deformation are in good agreement with the observed ones.

As an important branch of medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) has been applied for the treatment of diseases for thousands of years in China and other countries in East Asia. The Chinese Pharmacopoeia(ChP) is a drug code formulated by the Chinese government, and it includes a special volume for the monographs of TCM, which plays an important role in ensuring the quality of drugs. The use of quality control technology has always been a complex and important factor in TCM. Owing to the chemical diversity of TCM, chromatography technology has been proven to be a comprehensive strategy for the assessment of the overall quality of TCM and has become the main analytical method in the *** article provides an overview of the classical and modern chromatographic technologies applied in the ChP, and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each technique in the TCM *** 2020, the new edition of the Ch P(the 2020 edition) has been implemented at the end of 2020. This paper also contains a brief introduction about the application of chromatographic technologies in the new edition of the ChP.

The photo-dimerization characteristics of coumarin pendants within amphiphilic random copolymer micelles in aqueous solution was comprehensively investigated using various selected wavelength light in the UV-Vis-NIR region. The time-dependent photo-dimerization degree （PD） changes in the photo-dimerization experiments showed saturating behaviors with intensity-independent of PDmax values at 28%, 44%, 92%, 85%, 36%, 35%, 32% and 31% for 254, 288, 320, 360, 400, 500, 650 and 900 nm irradiations, respectively. The irradiation experiments at 254 and 288 nm announced the occurring of an asymmetric equilibrium of photo-dimerization and photo-cleavage at the used conditions. Both the alternative irradiation cycles of 360 and 254 nm, 650 and 254 nm showed a partially, but evidently reversible photo-dimerization tendency.

A new type of nano test system was introduced, the test principle and the indentation data analysis method were described. It was used to test the micro mechanical properties, such as hardness, elastic modulus and indentation creep property of n-Al2O3/Ni composite coating on steel prepared by brush plating, and the variety of mechanical properties with coating thickness was researched. The results show that the mechanical properties are basically identical within the whole coating, the hardness and modulus decrease in the defect fields, especially within the dendritic crystals, whereas the mechanical properties are not influenced greatly at the interspaces among dendritic crystals. The average hardness and elastic modulus of n-Al2O3/Ni coating are 6.34 GPa and 154 GPa respectively, and the hardness is 2.4 times higher than that of steel and the indentation creep curve of n-Al2O3/Ni coating is similar to that of the uniaxial compression creep, and the creep rate of steady-state is about 0. 104 nm/s. These results will supply useful data for process improvement, new type material development and application expansion.

Biodegradable poly（butylene succinate）（PBS） and layered double hydroxide （LDH） nanocomposites were prepared via melt blending in a twin-screw extruder. The morphology and dispersion of LDH nanoparticles within PBS matrix were characterized by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, which showed that LDH nanoparticles were found to be well distributed at the nanometer level. The nonisothermal crystallization behavior of nanocomposites was extensively studied using differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） technique at various cooling rates. The crystallization rate of PBS was accelerated by the addition of LDH due to its heterogeneous nucleation effect; however, the crystallization mechanism and crystal structure of PBS remained almost unchanged. In kinetics analysis of nonisothermal crystallization, the Ozawa approach failed to describe the crystallization behavior of PBS/LDH nanocomposites, whereas both the modified Avrami model and the Mo method well represented the crystallization behavior of nanocomposites. The effective activation energy was estimated as a function of the relative degree of crystallinity using the isoeonversional analysis. The subsequent melting behavior of PBS and PBS/LDH nanocomposites was observed to be dependent on the cooling rate. The POM showed that the small and less perfect crystals were formed in nanocomposites.

AIM： TO study the effects of interleukin-10 （IL-10） on the expression of o-smooth muscle actin （α-SMA）, nuclear factor-κB（NF-κB） and Fas/Fas ligand （FasL） in hepatic stellate cells of experimental rats with hepatic fibrosis. METHODS： Sixty clean SD rats were randomly divided into control group （group N）, liver fibrotic group （group C） and IL-10 treatment group （group I）. Control group received intraperitoneal injection of saline （2ml·kg^-1）, twice a week. Fibrotic group was injected intraperitoneally with 50% carbon tetrachloride （CCh）（2 ml·kg^-1）, twice a week. IL-10 treatment group was given IL-10 at a dose of 4 pg·kg^-1 20 minutes before CCl4 administration from the third week. Hepatic stellate cells （HSCs） were isolated from these rats at the seventh and eleventh weeks during the course of liver fibrosis, respectively. The expression of α-SMA and NF-κB in HSCs was measured by S-P immunohistochemistry. The expression of Fas and FasL mRNA was measured by RT-PCR. Furthermore, liver tissues were harvested from three groups at the same time. RESULTS： The CCh- induced experimental rat hepatic fibrosis model was established successfully. The purity of extracted hepatic stellate cells was about 95% and the yield of hepatic stellate cells was 1.2-2.3×10^6/g liver tissue averagely. The positive expression of α-SMA and NF-κB was 36.5% and 28.5% respectively in group N. The positive levels of α-SMA and NF-κB were increased significantly in group C compared to group N （P〈0.01）. The positive signals decreased significantly （P〈0.05） in group I. In the 11^th week, the HSCs of group I became round with visible pyknotic nuclei. The expression of NF-κB in group C was significantly increased in a timedependentmanner （P〈0.01）, but there was no difference in the α-SMA expression （P〉0.05）. Bioleaching of Cr（Ⅲ） from tannery sludge using the mixture of ingenuous iron- and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria was investigated in batch flasks. Experiments involved the adaptation of indigenous iron-and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, the pre-acidification the sludge to pH 6.0 and the addition of energy substrates. Results showed the inoculation of mixture of ingenuous iron- and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria and co-addition of Fe^2 and elemental sulfur accelerated acid production and increase of oxidation-reduction potential originating from the bio-oxidation of Fe2^＋ and elemental sulfur. Dissolved Cr concentration increased concomitant with pH decreased in the sludge and reached its maximum removal of 95.6%. The amelioration of the odor of bioleached sludge could be noted. However, 20.4%o of N, 24.5% of P and 14.3% of organic matter were lost in the bioleaching process. The residual Cr content in the leached tannery sludge was acceptable for use in agriculture. This study had shown the feasibility of applying the bioleaching process, developed for sewage sludge, to tannery sludge with high Cr.
