The development of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） is attributed to several factors, including chronic viral infection, alcohol consumption, exposure to aflatoxin 131 and metabolic disorders. Several recent reports have shown that HCC can occur in patients with longstanding Crohn＇s disease （CD） in the absence of other underlying high-risk liver diseases. There may be an association between CD and hepatocarcinogenesis, however, the precise mechanism for this requires further investigations.

·AIM:To evaluate the functional and structural changes of photoreceptors in patients and asymptomatic carriers with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy(LHON)using fullfield electroretinography(FERG)and optical coherence tomography(OCT).·METHODS:Individuals diagnosed with LHON at the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and their family members were included in this cross-sectional observational *** FERG a-wave amplitude of affected patients and asymptomatic carriers was *** thickness of the outer nuclear layer(ONL),inner and outer segment(IS/OS)and total photoreceptors in the macular fovea and parafovea were measured.·RESULTS:This study included 14 LHON patients(mean age:20.00±9.37y),12 asymptomatic carriers(mean age:39.83±6.48y),and 14 normal subjects(mean age:24.20±1.52y).The FERG results showed that the darkadapted 3.0 electroretinography and light-adapted 3.0 electroretinography a-wave amplitudes of patients and carriers were significantly decreased(P0.05).·CONCLUSION:Photoreceptors function is significantly impaired in LHON-affected patients and asymptomatic ***,photoreceptors morphology is slightly altered,mainly manifesting as a change in ONL thickness.

为探明PM2.5对大鼠代谢组学的影响,将SD大鼠随机分为对照组(SC)和PM2.5模型组(MG),每组15只。将生理盐水和PM2.5混悬液分别注入各组大鼠气管,每周2次,持续4周。通过超高效液相色谱-四极杆-飞行时间质谱(UPLC-Q-TOF MS)对各组大鼠尿液的代谢组学变化进行检测,采用多元统计分析探究整体代谢组学的变化。通过数据分析和数据库检索,从大鼠尿样中鉴定出17种潜在生物标记物,主要代谢途径涉及戊糖和葡萄糖醛酸相互转化、色氨酸代谢、酪氨酸代谢、苯丙氨酸代谢、嘌呤代谢、对乙酰氨基酚代谢、视黄醇代谢和丙戊酸代谢途径,PM2.5对大鼠诱导损伤作用,可能与其扰乱大鼠体内正常代谢活动有关。研究结果有助于了解PM2.5的毒理学机制,筛选PM2.5暴露大鼠的潜在生物标志物,为进一步探索PM2.5毒性作用及致病机制提供了理论依据。

目的基于“通调三焦”法探讨推拿联合八段锦对老年人群心肺功能、睡眠质量及心境状态的影响。方法根据随机数字表法将66例老年患者分为观察组与对照组,每组33例。观察组予以“通调三焦”推拿法干预3次/周,八段锦锻炼5次/周;对照组予以八段锦锻炼5次/周,疗程共12周;采用席勒CS-200运动心肺功能检测系统检测各组的心肺功能指标水平,比较两组干预前后的各项心肺功能指标、匹兹堡睡眠质量指数(PSQI)及简明心境状态量表(BPOMS)评分。结果与对照组相比,观察组心肺功能指标中VCmax、FVC、FEV1、VO_(2)(PEAK)、VO_(2)/kg (AT)、VO_(2)/kg(PEAK)、METS (PEAK)水平明显升高,VE/VCO_(2) slope(AT)水平明显降低,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);观察组PSQI、BPOMS评分均低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论基于“通调三焦”法应用推拿联合八段锦锻炼可有效提高老年人群的心肺功能,并改善睡眠质量以及心境状态。

The phase behavior of a well-defined poly(methyl methacrylate)- b- polystyrene block copolymer was studied by transmission electron microscope. The results show that a microphase transition may have occurred in the copolymer film. A kind of lamellae and an ordered bicontinuous double-diamond morphology are observed clearly. The lamellar morphology reveals a larger period of about 400 nm.

BACKGROUND Chondromyxoid fibroma(CMF) is a rare benign bone tumour of cartilaginous origin, which usually affects the metaphysis of the long bone. Involvement of the temporal bone is extremely rare. Patients with CMF in the temporal bone can present some neurological deficits due to involvement of surrounding neural structures. CASE SUMMARY We present the first case of histopathologically proven CMF originating in the temporal bone and involving the hypoglossal canal in a 40-year-old woman. Hypoglossal nerve paralysis was identified on the cranial nerve examination. The patient underwent surgical excision and was neurologically normal except for mild left facial palsy on 5-mo follow-up examination after surgery. In the current report, the major characteristics and computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging features of the lesion are discussed. Background Astrocyte swelling is an important consequence of hepatic encephalopathy, and aquaporin-4 has been reported to play a vital role in this swelling. Ammonia causes astrocyte swelling and is also known to modulate aquaporin-4 expression in the astrocyte foot processes. The purpose of this study was to explore the mechanism of ammonia-induced aquaporin-4 expression, which has been suggested to involve the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway. Methods We exposed cultured astrocytes to ammonium chloride, an in vitro model of hepatic encephalopathy. The purity of cultured astrocytes was evaluated by fluorescent glial fibrillary acidic protein labeling; cell morphology was assessed by light microscopy; the expression of aquaporin-4, phospho-p38, and p38 were detected by Western blotting analysis. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way factorial analysis of variance, and the relationship between variables was calculated by linear regression using SPSS version 13.0 program for Windows （SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA）. Results The purity of cultured astrocytes was （96.6±1.4）%. Astrocytes swelled significantly when exposed to 5 mmol/L ammonium chloride for 24 hours as compared to non-exposed astrocytes. Co-treatment with 10 μmol/L SB203580 （an inhibitor of p38） attenuated the degree of ammonium chloride induced astrocyte swelling. Western blotting analysis revealed that the expression levels of phospho-p38 and aquaporin-4 in ammonium chloride treated cells were significantly increased relative to the control group （P 〈0.001）; SB203580 co-treatment inhibited the increased expression of phospho-p38 and aquaporin-4 relative to the ammonium chloride treated group （P=0.002 and P=0.015 respectively）. The phosphorylation of p38 and upregulation of aquaporin-4 were highly correlated （r=0.909）. There were no significant differences in total p38 expression among the groups （P=0.341）. Using the UVic Earth System Model, this study simulated the change of seawater chemistry and analyzed the chemical habitat surrounding shallow- and cold-water coral reefs from the year 1800 to 2300 employing RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP6.0, and RCP8.5 scenarios. The model results showed that the global ocean will continue to absorb atmospheric CO2. Global mean surface ocean temperature will rise 1.1-2.8 K at the end of the 21st century across RCP scenarios. Meanwhile, the global mean surface ocean pH will drop 0.14--0.42 and the ocean surface mean con- centration of carbonate will decrease 20%--51% across the RCP scenarios. The saturated state of sea water with respect to calcite carbonate minerals （t2） will decrease rapidly. During the pre-industrial period, 99% of the shallow-water coral reefs were surrounded by seawater with t2 〉 3.5 and 87% of the deep-sea coral reefs were surrounded by seawater with aragonite supersaturation. Within the 21st century, except for the high mitigation scenario of RCP2.6, almost none shallow-water coral reefs will be surrounded by seawater with g2 〉 3.5. Under the intensive emission scenario of RCP8.5, by the year 2100, the aragonite saturation horizon will rise to 308 m under the sea surface from 1138 m at the pre- industrial period, thus 73% of the cold-water coral reefs will be surrounded by seawater with aragonite undersaturation. By the year 2300, only 5% of the cold-water coral reefs will be surrounded by seawater with aragonite supersaturation.
