Efficacy of the subthreshold micropulse yellow wavelength laser photostimulation in the treatment of chronic central serous chorioretinopathy

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of subthreshold micropulse yellow laser(SMYL)in the treatment of chronic central serous chorioretinopathy(CCSC).METHODS:The medical records of 58 eyes of 58 patients with CCSC were reviewed.A 577-nm SMYL system was used for the *** fluorescein angiography was used as the primary method of identifying CCSC,and resolution of subretinal fluid(SrF)evaluated by optical coherence tomography(OCT)and fundus *** macular thickness(CMT),central macular volume(CMV),total macular volume(TMV),subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT),subretinal fluid height(SrFH),and subfoveal fluid basement diameter values were measured by spectral domain-OCT(SD-OCT)for all ***:The mean age of the patients was 42.4±9.9(range:20-72)*** mean follow-up was 11.4±8.5(range:6-37)*** BCVA at at the final follow up after treatment was statistically significant from the *** SrF resolution was 12.1%of the eyes in the 1^st month,67.2%of the eyes in the 3rd month and 67.2%of the eyes in the last follow *** initial median CMT,CMV,TMV,and SFCT values before treatment was significantly higher than 3^rd month visit values(Priate analysis performed,age and disease duration were found to be a risk factor for persistent SrF(P=0.017,P=0.016,respectively).CONCLUSION:SMYL treatment provides a significant anatomical and functional improvement and is effective in eliminating SrF in eyes with CCSC.

AIM:To compare the efficacy of bevacizumab,ranibizumab,and aflibercept in pseudophakic cystoid macular edema(CME)patients with Irvine-Gass syndrome(IGS).METHODS:This study is designed as retrospective consecutive case *** who developed postoperative pseudophakic CME that refractory to topical treatment and were treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)agents included in the *** coherence tomography(OCT)examination including central macular thickness(CMT),total macular volume(TMV),retinal nerve fiber layer(rNFL),ganglion cell layer(GCL)and choroidal thickness(ChT)measurements at the baseline,1 st,3 rd and 6 th month controls were ***:Fifty-nine eyes of 59 patients with CME and other healthy eyes of the patients(Control group)were *** were 22 eyes of 22 patients in the bevacizumab group(group 1),19 eyes of 19 patients in the ranibizumab group(group 2),and 18 eyes of 18 patients in the aflibercept group(group 3).There was no difference in terms of age,gender,axial length,IOP,and spherical equivalent *** baseline subfoveal and mean ChT were higher in the IGS *** difference between the baseline and sixth month values of subfoveal and mean ChT were compared in the CME groups,thinning was observed in all three *** was thinner in the patient group at the 6 th month of *** resolution time of CME was observed faster in group ***:All three anti-VEGF agents seem to be effective in CME but bevacizumab appears to be slightly more cost-effective than the other two alternatives.

AIM: To evaluate the risk factors leading to recurrence in patients with ocular surface squamous neoplasia(OSSN)METHODS: The records of 112 patients with OSSN who underwent treatment and follow-up between February 1999 and August 2018 were reviewed ***: Totally 67 patients(59.8%) were male and 45 patients(40.2%) were female. The mean age at presentation was 63.7 y(range 22-87 y). Partial lamellar scleroconjunctivectomy(PLSC) was performed in 105(93.7%) cases and enucleation was performed in 7(6.3%) cases due to bulbus invasion as the first step treatment. Treatments used in addition to PLSC included cryotherapy in 78 eyes(74.3%), alcohol epitheliectomy in 57 eyes(54.3%) for presence of corneal involvement, and amniotic membrane transplantation in 17 eyes(16.2%) for ocular surface reconstruction. Topical mitomycin C was used in 10 patients(9.5%) and strontium-90(Str-90) treatment in 4(3.8%) patients because surgical margins were tumor positive at the histopathological examination. Postoperative histopathologic diagnoses were squamous cell carcinoma(52 cases), carcinoma in situ(44 cases), moderate conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia(11 cases), and mild conjunctiva intraepithelial neoplasia(5 cases). At a mean follow-up of 20.1 mo, tumor recurrence was observed in 21(18.8%) cases. The rate of recurrence was found to be lower in cases that underwent supplemental cryotherapy compared to those that did not(Pre was no metastasis in any case. CONCLUSION: In our series, the recurrence rate is 18.8% and overall globe salvage rate is 90.2% for OSSN at relatively short-term follow-up.

Improved Short Term Energy Load Forecasting Using Web-Based Social Networks

In this article, we are initiating the hypothesis that improvements in short term energy load forecasting may rely on inclusion of data from new information sources generated outside the power grid and weather related systems. Other relevant domains of data include scheduled activities on a grid, large events and conventions in the area, equipment duty cycle schedule, data from call centers, real-time traffic, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks feeds, and variety of city or region websites. All these distributed data sources pose information collection, integration and analysis challenges. Our approach is concentrated on complex non-cyclic events detection where detected events have a human crowd magnitude that is influencing power requirements. The proposed methodology deals with computation, transformation, modeling, and patterns detection over large volumes of partially ordered, internet based streaming multimedia signals or text messages. We are claiming that traditional approaches can be complemented and enhanced by new streaming data inclusion and analyses, where complex event detection combined with Webbased technologies improves short term load forecasting. Some preliminary experimental results, using Gowalla social network dataset, confirmed our hypothesis as a proof-of-concept, and they paved the way for further improvements by giving new dimensions of short term load forecasting process in a smart grid.

Within the scope of this study,it is aimed to contribute to the efforts for forming a database including the natural radiation levels throughout the country and developing a foundation for radiation *** portion of the Euphrates valley within the provincial border of Erzincan was chosen for the investigation and natural radiation levels were detected by analyzing the samples taken in terms of radioactivity,natural environment’s radiation *** the region of karasu,29 different samples from the water and 17 from the soil were taken and their total alpha,beta activities were *** take samples from the water and then they were measured by low background counter(Berthold brand LB770 10-channel counter).Total alpha and beta analyses were made according to the standard *** values of alpha and beta concentrations of samples were measured as 0.0421 Bq/L and 1.806 Bq/L,*** the soil samples HPGe gamma spectrometer system was used and radioisotope activity concentrations were found within the intervals of 2.7-27.8 Bq/kg for 226ra;3.2-39.4 Bq/kg for 232Th;98-714 Bq/kg for 40k;kg for 137Cs,*** radioisotopes were detected in some of the samples taken from streaming beds joining river water.
