Combined Effects of Exposure to Noise and Vibration on Human Postural Equilibrium under Simulated Driving Conditions

There is little information about drivers’body balance responses to combined exposure of noise and *** fill the gap,this study aims to investigate the combined effects of exposure to noise and whole-body vibration(WBV)on the body balance under simulated driving *** this purpose,30 male participants were exposed to noise level at 85 dB(A)and two vibration levels(0.87 and 1.3 m/s^(2))in five *** design of the study was repeated-measures,and it attempted to assess the effects of 40 minutes of exposure to noise and/or ***,the participants’fatigue was measured with the Borg scale(CR 10).The findings revealed there was a significant change in body sway after WBV and combined noise and WBV exposure(p0.05).The effect sizes of exposure to noise,WBV(1.3 m/s^(2)),and combined noise and WBV(1.3 m/s^(2))on body balance were 0.035,0.425,and 0.635,***,single exposure to WBV caused more fatigue than single exposure to noise(p<0.05).Combined noise and WBV exposure descriptively caused more fatigue in comparison with the influence of WBV *** study concluded that the combined effects of exposure to noise and vibration are more than the sum of ***,some synergistic effects may be observed in human body *** is essential to increase drivers’awareness and revise current health care interventions about new possible effects of combined exposures.

The static and cidal effects of veterinary antibiotics on soil microorganisms in the presence of organic and mineral amendments

●Gentamicin initially decreased microbial activity comparative to penicillin higher.●Recovery was comparatively high in oxytetracycline treated soils.●Organic amendments improved the resilience indices.●Unexpectedly the qCO_(2) decreased in the antibiotic treated soils.●The static effects of the applied antibiotics were higher than their cidal *** study aimed to describe the static and cidal adverse effects of antibiotics on soil microbial activity resulting from manure ***,in the present study,the treatments included:without antibiotics;application of gentamicin,oxytetracycline,and penicillin each in different concentrations(50,100,and 200 mg kg−1 dry soil).They were applied in soils treated with and without organic and mineral conditioners(cow manure,biochar,and nano-zeolite).Soil microbial respiration and metabolic quotient were studied at three time periods(1−7,7−30,and 30−90 days)during a 90-day incubation of the treated *** applied to the soil samples significantly decreased soil basal respiration(BR)values compared to those of the control,and the most significant decrease was observed for *** had a short intensive impact,alleviated by manure and biochar,on soil *** a significant initial reduction in substrate-induced respiration(SIR),gentamicin application then caused a substantial increase in SIR *** metabolic quotient decreased in the antibiotic-treated *** study revealed that the static effects of the applied antibiotics in soil were greater than the cidal effects.

Comparison of post-urethroplasty complication rates in pediatric cases with hypospadias using Vicryl or polydioxanone sutures

Objective:Hypospadias is a common congenital problem among male *** rapid absorbable sutures(polyglactin,Vicryl)and delayed absorbable sutures(polydioxanone,PDO)are used in hypospadias repair based on the surgeon's *** study was conducted to compare post-urethroplasty complication rates in pediatric patients with hypospadias using Vicryl or PDO ***:This is a retrospective study which was designed and performed on 583 children aged 1-7 years old who had undergone hypospadias repair from January 2012 to December *** data were obtained from the patients'medical ***:Overall,post-surgical complications were observed in 60(10.3%)patients comprising urethro-cutaneous fistula(n=39,6.7%),meatal stenosis(n=10,1.7%),urethral stricture(n=7,1.2%),and glans dehiscence(n=4,0.7%).The mean age of the children with complications was 3.0±1.3 *** to Kaplan-Meier estimate,the interval between surgery and development of complications was significantly shorter in the Vicryl group(p=0.037).Overall,complications were more prevalent in Vicryl suture than PDO suture(15.1%vs.5.3%,p<0.001).Regression model revealed that in comparison to the distal type,proximal hypospadias(odds ratio[OR]:103.9,95%confidence interval[CI]:32.2-334.9,p<0.001)and mid-shaft hypospadias(OR:82.9,95%CI:25.9-264.6,p<0.001)while using Vicryl suture instead of PDO suture(OR:62.4,95%CI:21.2-183.8,p<0.001)increased the odds of developing post-urethroplasty ***:We suggest PDO suture in the repair of hypospadias due to its lower complication rate,especially in cases of proximal and mid-shaft hypospadias which can get more complicated than the distal type.

Numerical simulation of fatigue crack propagation in heterogeneous geomaterials under varied loads using displacement discontinuity method

Runoff components are the most important factors in explaining the hydrological behaviour of a *** that the proper understanding of the runoff processes may effectively help managers and decision-makers adopt appropriate *** this regard,there are variety of approaches to handle runoff generation,but the application of environmentally friendly,biologic-based and cost-effective approaches such as soil microorganisms has been seldom *** study has therefore tried to investigate the role of inoculation of cyanobacteria on runoff components under rain simulation conditions at the mid-sized(i.e.,6×1m)plots installed at=30% slope *** treated plots were subjected to a simulated rainfall with an intensity of 50 mm h^(-1) and an initial duration of 30 min with three replica-tions.A simulated runoff of 2.18±0.32 Lmin^(-1) was also performed simultaneously on the onset of starting surface *** results showed significant differences(P<0.021)in hydrological behaviours in control and treated *** that no surface runoff was produced in treated plots up to the end of the initial duration of 30 min of simulated *** results revealed that cyanobacterization by secretion of exopolysaccharides not only postponed runoff generation but also effectively inhibited runoff com-ponents even if the rainfall incident extended for longer *** positive effect of cyanobacterization on increasing infiltration and potential storage of water beneath the soil was also verified in the present study,which suggests the profitable application of cyanobacteria for regulating hydrologic components.

Meson polarized distribution function and mass dependence of the nucleon parton densities

The polarized distribution functions of mesons, including pion, kaon and eta, using the proton structure function, are calculated. We are looking for a relationship between the polarized distribution of mesons and the polarized structure of nucleons. We show that the meson polarized parton distributions leads to zero total spin for the concerned mesons, considering the orbital angular momentum of quarks and gluons inside the meson. Two separate Monte Carlo algorithms are applied to compute the polarized parton distributions of the kaon. Via the mass dependence of quark distributions, the distribution function of the eta meson is obtained. A new method by which the polarized sea quark distributions of protons are evolved separately which cannot be performed easily using the standard solution of DGLAP equations - is introduced. The mass dependence of these distributions is obtained, using the renormalization group equation which makes their evolutions more precise. Comparison between the evolved distributions and the available experimental data validates the suggested solutions for separated evolutions.

Axial length and anterior chamber indices in elderly population: Tehran Geriatric Eye Study

AIM:To determine the normative distribution of axial length(AL),anterior chamber depth(ACD),anterior chamber volume(ACV),anterior chamber angle(ACA),and some of their associated factors in subjects aged 60 and ***:In this cross-sectional study,160 clusters were sampled using multi-stage cluster sampling in Tehran,*** a preliminary interview,the participants underwent optometric examinations including visual acuity and refraction measurement followed by slit lamp ***,ocular imaging was done using the Pentacam AXL to measure AL,ACD,ACV,and ***:A total of 4519 eyes of 2436 participants were evaluated,of whom 58.0%(n=1412)were *** mean age of the subjects was 67.32±6.05y(range:60-95y).The mean AL,ACD,ACV,and ACA was 23.22 mm(23.18-23.27 mm),2.61 mm(2.59-2.62 mm),126.56 mm3(125.08-128.04 mm3),and 30.61°(30.3°-30.92°),*** the multivariable model,after adjusting for the effect of both eyes,the longest and shortest AL was seen in myopic and hyperopic subjects,***,ACD,ACV and ACA were significantly larger in men compared to women(P<0.001).Except ACA,other evaluated parameters showed an inverse correlation with age(P<0.001),however,this correlation was insignificant for AL(P=0.623).CONCLUSION:Normative value of AL,and other biometric parameters are specific for each ethnicity,age and sex *** alteration in these parameters and their effect on refraction should be considered in this age group,especially in case of cataract surgery.

AIM:To determine the agreement of ocular biometric indices including axial length,keratometric readings,anterior chamber depth,and horizontal corneal diameter between the Pentacam AXL and IOL Master ***:The study was a large cross-sectional population-based study(Tehran Geriatric Eye Study)conducted from Jan 2019 to Jan 2020.A total of 160 clusters were randomly selected proportional to size(each cluster contained 20 individuals)from 22 strata of Tehran *** people aged 60y and above were invited to participate in the *** all participants,preliminary ocular examinations were performed including the measurement of uncorrected and best-corrected visual acuity,objective and subjective refraction,anterior and posterior segment *** participants underwent an ocular biometry using the Pentacam AXL and IOL Master ***:The 95%limits of agreement(LoA)between the two devices were-0.13 to 0.19,-0.15 to 0.17,and-0.13 to 0.19 in normal,pseudophakic,and cataractous eyes,*** increasing the axial length,the difference between the two devices significantly increased in all three groups of normal,pseudophakic,and cataractous eyes(P<0.001).The 95% LoAs between the two devices regarding the mean keratometry shows that the best LoAs were seen in cataractous(-0.33 to 0.81)and followed by normal eyes(-0.36 to 0.86)and the pseudophakic eyes(-0.48 to 0.90)had the widest *** 95% LoAs for horizontal corneal diameter measurements were-0.08 to 0.86,-0.03 to 0.83,and-0.07 to 0.87 in normal,pseudophakic,and cataractous eyes,*** 95% LoAs of anterior chamber depth measurements between the two devices was-0.39 to 0.19 and-0.37 to 0.13 in normal eyes and cataractous,***:The Pentacam AXL has excellent agreement with the gold standard,IOL Master 500 in measuring axial *** eyes with cataracts,the difference between the two devices is more *** the increasing of axial length,the difference between the

Pyrylium-based porous organic polymers via Knoevenagel condensation for efficient visible-light-driven heterogeneous photodegradation

Pyrylium salts are a type of representative and convincing example of versatility and variety not only as a nodal point in organic transformations but also as an attractive building block in functional organic materials. Herein, we report an effective synthetic protocol to fabricate a new pyrylium-containing porous organic polymers(POPs), named TMP-P, via Knoevenagel condensation with 2,4,6-trimethylpyrylium salt(TMP) as the key building block and 1,4-phthalaldehyde as the linker. The resulting ionic polymer TMPP exhibited efficient visible-light-driven heterogeneous photodegradation of Rhodamine B, owing to the presence of wide visible light absorption and a narrow optical band gap triggered pyrylium core in the framework.
