Inflammation represents an initial response of immune system and is involved in a number of biochemical *** incidents may multiply and further develop the provocative *** the past 15 years,various classes of secondary metabolites that were isolated from plant and marine sources have been described as natural cyclooxygenase(COX)*** majority of natural COX inhibitors could be used as a selective therapeutic agent for complementary medicine and clinical ***,the inflammation is commonly treated by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),several medications of which,however,have been linked to renal and gastrointestinal side effects.A variety of inhibitors of COX-2 that are selective(celecoxib,rofecoxib,valdecoxib and others)have been designed as NSAIDs mostly with enhanced stomach safety *** helps to improve the compliance and functions in the geriatric patients as they have so many complications and problems associated with the *** use of complementary medicine in combination with clinical therapy might give better results than medicine *** disease condition like cancer which shows the COX-2 expressions could also have treatment related problems in such cases the selective inhibitors used as a complementary *** the other hand,elevated cardiovascular risks have brought increasing worries about the safety of using specific inhibitors of *** current review focuses on how quinoline heterocycle was used for creation of inhibitors of COX-2 since 2009 along with its clinical significance in complementary *** agents included the variety of substituents on the ring or ring attached to other *** a result,the quinoline heterocycle will be used for creating and finding anti-inflammatory COX-2 medicines.

Phytopharmacological evaluation and anti-asthmatic activity of Ficus religiosa leaves

Objective:To discuss phytopharmacological potential and anti-asthmatic activity of Ficus religiosa(***)(L.).Methods:Fresh leaves of *** were obtained from Vastrapur Lake,Ahmedabad,and dried to obtain *** and acetylcholine were used to guinea pigs to establish bronchospasm *** in vivo study,the aqueous extract of *** leaves (AEFR) at doses of 150 and 300 mg/ kg was administrated to guinea pigs,and the broncho-protective activity of AEFR was compared with aminophylline at 25 mg/*** in in vitro study,and 10 g/mL,20 g/mL,30 g/mL of AEFRL was administrated to guinea pigs,respectively, and mast cell stabilizing activity of AEFR was compared with ketotifen at 10 g/***: In the in-vivo model,pre-treatment with aminophylline(25 mg/kg,ip.) could significantly delay the onset of histamine induced pre-convulsive dyspnea,compared with vehicle control. Administration of AEFRL(150 and 300 mg/kg,ip.) also produced significant effect on latency to develop histamine & acetylcholine induced pre-convulsive *** the mast cell stabilizing model,AEFRL at 10,20 and 30μg/mL could significantly increase the number of intact cells. Conclusions:It can be concluded that AEFRL is effective on histamine & acetylcholine induced bronchospasm in guinea *** addition,AEFRL can potentiate the number of intact cells in the mast cell stabilizing model._____________________________________________________

Tattooing: A potential novel risk factor for iliopsoas abscess

Iliopsoas abscess(IPA) is an uncommon infection. The clinical presentation is usually insidious. Most patients present with nonspecific symptoms, leading to difficulty in prompt and accurate diagnosis. Delay in diagnosis can lead to complications, such as sepsis and death. Tattooing has become more popular over the recent years and has been associated with tattooing-related and blood-borne infections. We present two related cases of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus IPA after tattooing and review the epidemiology, etiology, clinical features, and management of IPA.

＜正＞ The successful application of porous cordierite ceramic monolithic converters for automotive emissions control over the past 24 years in North America has been attributed to systems approach for optimizing the total converter package from reliability point of view. The systems approach examines the interaction between various components of monolithic converter package, namely the cordierite substrate, the alumina washcoat, the braided wire-rope end seals, the intumescent ceramic mat or steel wiremesh, and the stainless steel can, from long-term durability point of view. Such an approach has also proven successful in the Japanese, European, Korean and South American automotive industries.

The Role of Prophylactic Antibiotics for Percutaneous Procedures in Orthopaedic Surgery

Introduction This study investigates the current practice of surgeons in the United Kingdom with regards to their usage of prophylactic antibiotics for percutaneous orthopaedic procedures. Methods An electronic survey of 10 questions was devised and sent to all members of the British Orthopaedic Association. Three hundred and three replies were obtained (172 consultants, 131 trainees). Results Only half the numbers of orthopaedic surgeons would routinely use antibiotics for percutaneous K-wire fixation. Of the other half, 28% would never prescribe antibiotics and 22% would use them in special circumstances only. These ‘special circumstances’ were also not standardised. 92% of those who did prescribe antibiotics would administer single dose only and the majority (90%) would administer them during induction. There was no significant difference between trainees and consultants or between different orthopaedic procedures with regards to whether prophylactic antibiotics were prescribed or not. Discussion This survey highlights the split of opinion amongst practising orthopaedic surgeons as to the necessity or otherwise of antibiotic prophylaxis in percutaneous orthopaedic procedures. There are no reliable guidelines and further work should be carried out to investigate this subject.

Knowledge and prevention measures against dengue in southern Nepal

Objective:To ascertain the knowledge and prevention measures against dengue among selected adult population in southern ***:A cross sectional study was conducted in Rapti Zonal Hospital,Dang and Bharatpur Hospital,Chitwan during August-November,2011.A total of 212 patients were interviewed regarding their knowledge and practices about dengue *** samples were collected and investigated for the presence of anti-dengue IgM antibodies by ***:Data from 156 patients greater than 15 years were *** them,21 samples were found to possess anti-dengue IgM antibodies by ***,economically active people,farmers,unemployed and housewives were more frequently affected by *** the total,118(76%)were reported to know the disease ***,headache and myalgia were the most known symptoms and house drains and kitchen garden were known as the most common breeding sites of *** disposal,use of mosquito nets and covering water containers were the best known preventive ***:The overall knowledge of dengue was high,but females,old persons,unemployed and housewives had relatively little knowledge of ***,these groups may need special attention in future dengue education *** with knowledge of the disease more frequently reported the use of preventive measures,indicating the value of education programs as a tool in dengue prevention.

Electrical Properties of Newly Calcified Tissues on the Surface of Silver Ion Administrated Hydroxyapatite Scaffolds

The application of electric field to graft materials has significant contribution in bone healing mechanism. Hence, the aim of this study is to develop conductive hydroxyapatite (HAp) scaffolds by introducing different concentrations of silver ion into its structure and demonstrate its impact on in vitro bioactivity and electrical properties. Hydroxyapatite was synthesized by wet chemical method and calcium ions from HAp structure have been partially replaced by silver ions. The HAp and Ag-HAp nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared, Raman spectroscopy, XRD and EDAX for functional group and phase formation analysis as well as to confirm existence of silver ions in HAp structure respectively. Bioactivity of these scaffolds was assessed by using simulated body fluid. The surface morphology, structural analysis and electrical properties of scaffolds before and after formation of newly calcified tissues on its surface were examined via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), XRD, FTIR, dielectric and impedance spectroscopy techniques. Overall, our finding suggests that the administration of silver ions in HAp scaffold boosts bioactivity and has strong correlation with electrical properties.

COVID-19 mortality and its risk factors:A single-center observational study

Objectives:To determine COVID-19 mortality and its risk factors in hospitalized patients at of a tertiary care center in north ***:A retrospective observational study was conducted of patients who were hospitalized from May 2020 to January *** in-hospital mortality was assessed,and demographic variables and comorbidities between COVID-19 deaths and survivors were ***:A total of 24000 patients were admitted during the study period,among which 17000 had shown positive results of the RT-PCR test for *** total mortality was 329 patients(1.37%),among which 232(70.52%)succumbed due to COVID-19,and 97(29.48%)died due to other *** mean age of the patients was(64.09依16.99)*** mean age was significantly higher in COVID-19 related deaths[(67.63±13.78)years]as compared to that of the survivors[(60.52±19.5)years](P<0.001).Compared to COVID-19 survivors,there were more males(72.41%v.s.61.5%)and less females(27.59%v.s.38.5%)in COVID-19 related deaths(P=0.001).Comorbidities such as hypertension,diabetes mellitus,and chronic kidney disease showed a significant correlation with COVID-19 mortality with an adjusted odds ratio of 2.389(95%CI:1.465-2.982),3.891(95%CI:2.059-5.392),and 6.358(95%CI:5.675-10.564),***:Elderly males with comorbidities have higher risk for mortality related to *** vaccination drive is rightfully prioritised to serve the high-risk category first.
