Cohesive Strength and Seismogenic Stress Pattern along the Active Basement Faults of the Precordillera-Sierras Pampeanas Ranges,Western Argentina:An Experimental Analysis by Means of Numerical Model

A two-dimensional finite element method （FEM） model that incorporates faults, elastic rock physical properties, topographical load due to gravity and far-field plate velocity boundary conditions was used to recognize the seismogenic stress state along the fold-and-thrust belt of the Precordillera-Sierras Pampeanas ranges of western Argentina. A plane strain model with nine experiments was presented here to examine the fault strength with two major rock phyical properties： cohesion and angle of internal friction. Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion with bulk rock properties were applied to analyse faults. The stress field at any point of the model was assumed to be comprised of gravitational and tectonic components. The analysis was focused to recognize the seismogenic shear strain concentrated in the internal-cristaline domain of the orogene shown by the modeling. Modeling results are presented in terms of four parameters, i. e., （i） distributions, orientations, and magnitudes of principal stresses （σ1 and σ3）, （ii） displacement vector1 （iii） strain distribution, and （iv） maximum shear stress （τmax） contour line within the model. The simulation results show that the compressive stress is distributed in and around the fault systems. The overall orientation of of σ1 is in horizontal directions, although reorientations do occur within some stress weaker parts, especially subsequent to the faults. A large-scale shear stress is accumulating along the active faults of Tapias-Villicum Fault （TVF）, Salinas-Berros Fault （SBF）, Ampacama-Niquizanga Fault （ANF） and Las Charas Fault （CF）, which could act as local stress and strain modulators to localize the earthquakesoccurrence.

Hydrogen Gas Filling into an Actual Tank at High Pressure and Optimization of Its Thermal Characteristics

Gas with high pressure is widely used at present as fuel storage mode for different hydrogen vehicles. Differenttypes of materials are used for constructing these hydrogen pressure vessels. An aluminum lined vessel and typicallycarbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials are commercially used in hydrogen vessels. An aluminumlined vessel is easy to construct and posses high thermal conductivity compared to other commercially availablevessels. However, compared to CFRP lined vessel, it has low strength capacity and safety factors. Therefore,nowadays, CFRP lined vessels are becoming more popular in hydrogen vehicles. Moreover, CFRP lined vesselhas an advantage of light weight. CFRP, although, has many desirable properties in reducing the weight and inincreasing the strength, it is also necessary to keep the material temperature below 85 ℃ for maintaining stringentsafety requirements. While filling process occurs, the temperature can be exceeded due to the compression worksof the gas flow. Therefore, it is very important to optimize the hydrogen filling system to avoid the crossing of thecritical limit of the temperature rise. Computer-aided simulation has been conducted to characterize the hydrogenfilling to optimize the technique. Three types of hydrogen vessels with different volumes have been analyzed foroptimizing the charging characteristics of hydrogen to test vessels. Gas temperatures are measured inside representativevessels in the supply reservoirs (H2 storages) and at the inlet to the test tank during filling.

Impact of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium on Brown Planthopper and Tolerance of Its Host Rice Plants

The brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(St?l),appeared as a devastating pest of rice in Asia. Experiments were conducted to study the effects of three nutrients,nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P) and potassium(K),on BPH and its host rice plants. Biochemical constituents of BPH and rice plants with varying nutrient levels at different growth stages,and changes in relative water content(RWC) of rice plants were determined in the laboratory. Feeding of BPH and the tolerance of rice plants to BPH with different nutrient levels were determined in the nethouse. Concentrations of N and P were found much higher in the BPH body than in its host rice plants,and this elemental mismatch is an inherent constraint on meeting nutritional requirements of BPH. Nitrogen was found as a more limiting element for BPH than other nutrients in rice plants. Application of N fertilizers to the rice plants increased the N concentrations both in rice plants and BPH while application of P and K fertilizers increased their concentrations in plant tissues only but not in BPH. Nitrogen application also increased the level of soluble proteins and decreased silicon content in rice plants,which resulted in increased feeding of BPH with sharp reduction of RWC in rice plants ultimately caused susceptible to the pest. P fertilization increased the concentration of P in rice plant tissues but not changed N,K,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents,which indicated little importance of P to the feeding of BPH and tolerance of plant against BPH. K fertilization increased K content but reduced N,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents in the plant tissues which resulted in the minimum reduction of RWC in rice plants after BPH feeding,thereby contributed to higher tolerance of rice plants to brown planthopper.

Developing a scalable process is critical to manufacture conductive fabric for commercial *** paper describes a scalable coating process that is compatible with existing industrial finishing processes of *** this process,the fabric is continuously dipped in water-based metal salt and the reducing agent solution to impart conductive particles on the fiber *** 10 consecutive cycles of dip coating,the fabric shows 6Ω/*** *** process is tuned to minimize process cost and material cost,and maximize the durability of the *** paper also introduces an easy protective coating technique of the conductive fabric that improves the durability of the conductive fabric without sacrificing the comfort properties of textile fabrics such as breathability and *** encapsulated conductive fabric shows good air-permeability and it is 6.96 cm^(3)/cm^(2)/***,the conductivity of the encapsulated fabric is quite stable after four accelerated washing ***,the fabric remains conductive on the surfaces and is suitable for using as a conductive track and connectors.

Phototransistors that can detect visible light have been fabricated using solution processed zinc oxide channel/zirconium oxide gate insulator thin film transistors(TFTs)and room temperature synthesized perovskite quantum dots(PeQDs)as active *** ZnO thin film transistors did not show a photocurrent under visible light ***,ZnO TFTs decorated with PeQDs exhibited enhanced photocurrent upon exposure to visible *** device had a responsivity of 567 A/W(617 A/W),a high detectivity of 6.59×10^(13)Jones(1.85×10^(14)J)and a high sensitivity of 10^(7)(10^(8))under green(blue)light at a low drain voltage of 0.1 *** high photo-responsivity and detectivity under green light resulted from the combination of short ligands in the QDs films and the high mobility of the spray coated ZnO *** results are relevant for the development of low cost and low energy consumption phototransistors working in the visible range.

Metamaterial-Based Compact Antenna with Defected Ground Structure for 5G and Beyond

In this paper,a unit cell of a single-negative metamaterial structure loaded with a meander line and defected ground structure(DGS)is investigated as the principle radiating element of an *** unit cell antenna causes even or odd mode resonances similar to the unit cell structure depending on the orientation of the microstrip feed used to excite the unit ***,the orientation which gives low-frequency resonance is considered *** unit cell antenna is then loaded with a meander line which is parallel to the split bearing side and connects the other two sides orthogonal to the split bearing *** modified structure excites another mode of resonance at high frequency when a meander line defect is loaded on the metallic ground *** parameters of the meander line structure,the DGS shape,and the unit cell are optimized to place these two resonances at different frequencies with proper frequency intervals to enhance the ***,the feed is placed in an offset position for better impedance matching without affecting the bandwidth The compact dimension of the antenna is 0.25λL×0.23λL×0.02λL,whereλL is the free space wavelength with respect to the center frequency of the impedance *** proposed antenna is fabricated and *** results reveal that the modified design gives monopole like radiation patterns which achieves a fractional operating bandwidth of 26.6%,from 3.26 to 4.26 GHz for|S11|<−10 dB and a pick gain of 1.26 dBi is *** addition,the simulated and measured crosspolarization levels are both less than−15 dB in the horizontal plane.

Source identification, contamination status and health risk assessment of heavy metals from road dusts in Dhaka, Bangladesh

In this study, concentrations of Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb were determined in road dusts collected from different locations in Dhaka to assess source, contamination status and health risk. Energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to determine Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb and their mean concentrations were 162.27 ± 29.46, 721.18 ± 180.14, 35.65 ± 12.55, 104.56 ± 128.33, 515.32 ± 321.90,BDL, and 342.82 ± 591.20 mg/kg, respectively. Among the heavy metals, highest concentrations of Cu, Zn and Pb were found at urban sites-7(municipal waste dumping) and 8(medical waste incineration). Highest concentration of Cr followed by Cu and Zn was found at site-5(Tejgaon, urban). Principal component analysis revealed that anthropogenic activities are the potential sources for Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn and Pb while earth crust for Mn. Pollution index and pollution load index results suggested that all the sites were contaminated and/or degraded by Cr, Cu, Zn and Pb except sites-9(urban), 10(sub-urban), 11(rural) while sites-7 and 8(urban) were extremely degraded. For noncarcinogenic health risk, hazard quotient values for dermal were higher compared to that of inhalation/ingestion. Though hazard index values were less than 1 at all the sites, these were at least one order of magnitude higher for children group than that of adult group, thus the children group may face more noncarcinogenic health risk at sites -7 and 8. Values of incremental lifetime cancer risk were from 10to 10showed no carcinogenic health risk by road dusts contaminated with the heavy metals.
