Chemically and biologically activated biochars slow down urea hydrolysis and improve nitrogen use efficiency

Biochar is considered a potential technology to enhance chemical fertilizer use efficiency through intensification of the interactions between nutrients and the functional groups on biochar ***,little is known about how the application of activated biochars mixed with urea influences nitrogen(N)mineralization and crop performance in paddy ***,a sawdust-derived fresh biochar(FBC)(ca.400℃)was activated chemically with 15%hydrogen peroxide and biologically with a nutrient solution mixed with a soil inoculum to obtain a chemically activated biochar(CBC)and a biologically activated biochar(BBC),*** chemical and surface properties of FBC,CBC,and BBC were evaluated using spectroscopic methods,i.e.,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance,and potentiometric charge *** N retention capacity of biochars and their interaction with urea hydrolysis were examined in a laboratory incubation ***,a field experiment was carried out in a paddy field with the biochars unmixed or mixed with urea at a 1:1 *** results showed that negative surface functional groups and negative charges were increased on both activated biochars,especially *** activated biochars contributed to a significant reduction in urea-biochar suspension ph and increased N retention in the incubation *** the enhanced surface properties of the activated biochars,no similar increases in rice biomass and grain yield were observed for these biochars in the field ***,rice biomass,grain yield,apparent N use efficiency,and agronomic N use efficiency were significantly higher with the application of the three biochars compared to no-biochar ***,the results indicate that the application of urea mixed with biochar could enhance crop performance,especially in the case of activated biochar,which would enhance N retention in the soil,reducing N loss.

In this research,we introduce a comprehensive epidemiological model that accounts for multiple strains of an infectious disease and two distinct vaccination *** stands out as the most effective means to prevent and manage infectious ***,when there are various vaccines available,each with its costs and effectiveness,the decision-making process for individuals becomes ***,the factor of waning immunity following vaccination also plays a significant role in influencing these *** understand how individuals make decisions in the context of multiple strains and waning immunity,we employ a behavioral model,allowing an epidemiological model to be coupled with the dynamics of a decision-making *** base their choice of vaccination on factors such as the total number of infected individuals and the cost-effectiveness of the *** findings indicate that as waning immunity increases,people tend to prioritize vaccines with higher costs and greater ***,when more contagious strains are present,the equilibrium in vaccine adoption is reached more ***,we delve into the social dilemma inherent in our model by quantifying the social efficiency deficit(SED)under various parameter combinations.

Telemarketing is a well-established marketing approach to offering products and services to prospective *** effectiveness of such an approach,however,is highly dependent on the selection of the appropriate consumer base,as reaching uninterested customers will induce annoyance and consume costly enterprise resources in vain while missing interested *** introduction of business intelligence and machine learning models can positively influence the decision-making process by predicting the potential customer base,and the existing literature in this direction shows promising ***,the selection of influential features and the construction of effective learning models for improved performance remain a ***,from the modelling perspective,the class imbalance nature of the training data,where samples with unsuccessful outcomes highly outnumber successful ones,further compounds the problem by creating biased and inaccurate ***,customer preferences are likely to change over time due to various reasons,and/or a fresh group of customers may be targeted for a new product or service,necessitating model retraining which is not addressed at all in existing works.A major challenge in model retraining is maintaining a balance between stability(retaining older knowledge)and plasticity(being receptive to new information).To address the above issues,this paper proposes an ensemble machine learning model with feature selection and oversampling techniques to identify potential customers more accurately.A novel online learning method is proposed for model retraining when new samples are available over *** newly introduced method equips the proposed approach to deal with dynamic data,leading to improved readiness of the proposed model for practical adoption,and is a highly useful addition to the *** experiments with real-world data show that the proposed approach achieves excellent results in all cases(e.g.,98.6

EDSUCh:A robust ensemble data summarization method for effective medical diagnosis

Identifying rare patterns for medical diagnosis is a challenging task due to heterogeneity and the volume of *** summarization can create a concise version of the original data that can be used for effective *** this paper,we propose an ensemble summarization method that combines clustering and sampling to create a summary of the original data to ensure the inclusion of rare *** the best of our knowledge,there has been no such technique available to augment the performance of anomaly detection techniques and simultaneously increase the efficiency of medical *** performance of popular anomaly detection algorithms increases significantly in terms of accuracy and computational complexity when the summaries are ***,the medical diagnosis becomes more effective,and our experimental results reflect that the combination of the proposed summarization scheme and all underlying algorithms used in this paper outperforms the most popular anomaly detection techniques.

Nodule Detection Using Local Binary Pattern Features to Enhance Diagnostic Decisions

Pulmonary nodules are small, round, or oval-shaped growths on the lungs. They can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). The size of a nodule can range from a few millimeters to a few centimeters in diameter. Nodules may be found during a chest X-ray or other imaging test for an unrelated health problem. In the proposed methodology pulmonary nodules can be classified into three stages. Firstly, a 2D histogram thresholding technique is used to identify volume segmentation. An ant colony optimization algorithm is used to determine the optimal threshold value. Secondly, geometrical features such as lines, arcs, extended arcs, and ellipses are used to detect oval shapes. Thirdly, histogram Oriented Surface Normal Vector (hOSNV) feature descriptors can be used to identify nodules of different sizes and shapes by using a scaled and rotation-invariant texture description. Smart nodule classification was performed with the XGBoost classifier. The results are tested and validated using the Lung Image Consortium Database (LICD). The proposed method has a sensitivity of 98.49% for nodules sized 3–30 mm.

Relationship between Seed Priming Mediated Seedling Vigor and Yield Performance of Spring Wheat

Seed priming is a pre-germinated technique that can enhance seed germination percentage,faster and synchro-nized germination,better seedling growth,and yield under stress *** ascertain the most effective seed priming method that would ensure the potential yield of wheat in Bangladesh,two experiments were carried out from December 2021 to March 2022 at the Department of Agronomy,Bangladesh Agricultural *** wheat varieties namely BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 were subjected to a range of priming chemicals in both lab and pot *** compounds included the following:control(no priming),hydropriming(distilled water),10000 ppm KNO_(3),15000 ppm KNO_(3),40000 ppm Mannitol,60000 ppm Mannitol,10000 ppm NaCl,20000 ppm NaCl,100 ppm PEG,150 ppm PEG,500 ppm NaOCl,1000 ppm NaOCl,10000 ppm CaCl_(2),20000 ppm CaCl_(2),10000 ppm KCl and 20000 ppm KCl.A complete randomized design(CRD)with three repli-cations was used to set up the *** results showed that BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 responded best to KCl priming in terms of rapid seed germination and strong seedling *** the other hand,the best priming agents for plant growth and productivity turned out to be CaCl_(2) and *** results of this study support the possibility of using seed priming as a technique to improve wheat plant development and output by raising seed emergence and survival rates.

An Efficient Approach for Transforming Unbalanced Transportation Problems into Balanced Problems in Order to Find Optimal Solutions

In operations research, the transportation problem (TP) is among the earliest and most effective applications of the linear programming problem. Unbalanced transportation problems reflect the reality of supply chain and logistics situations where the available supply of goods may not precisely match the demand at different locations. To deal with an unbalanced transportation problem (UTP), it is essential first to convert it into a balanced transportation problem (BTP) to find an initial basic feasible solution (IBFS) and hence the optimal solution. The present paper is concerned with introducing a new approach to convert an unbalanced transportation problem into a balanced one and as a consequence to obtain optimum total transportation cost. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the suggested method.

Background:Many kinds of orchids have significant health benefits although ade-quate research on their biological functions is yet to be carried *** study inves-tigated the paracetamol-induced liver damage-protecting effect of epiphytic Aerides odorata methanol extract(AODE).Methods:The protective effects of AODE were studied by analyzing its effect on liver function parameters,messenger RNA(mRNA)expression,and tissue histopatho-logical *** results were confirmed by ligand-receptor interaction of molecular docking and multitarget interaction of network pharmacological ***:AODE significantly(phe dose-dependent increase in acid phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phos-phatase,γ-glutamyl transferase,lactate dehydrogenase,and total bilirubin compared to the reference drug *** level decreased,and the antioxidant genes catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),β-actin,paraoxonase-1(PON1),and phosphofructokinase-1(PFK-1)were upregulated in AODE-treated paracetamol-intoxicated rats.A total of 376 compounds comprising phenols and flavonoids were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry(UPLC-qTOF-MS).The online toxicity assessment using SwissADME and admetSAR exhibited drug-like,nontoxic,and potential pharmaco-logical ***,in silico analysis showed that isoacteoside,one of the identified compounds,exhibited the best docking score(−11.42)with the liver pro-tein human pituitary adenylate cyclase-1(Protein Data Bank ID:3N94).Furthermore,network pharmacology analysis identified the top 10 hub genes,namely AKT1(protein kinase B),CTNNB1(catenin beta-1),SRC(proto-oncogene c-Src),TNF(tumor necrosis factor),EGFR(epidermal growth factor receptor),hSP90AA1(heat shock protein 90α),MAPK3(mitogen-activated protein kinase 3),STAT3(signal transducer and activator of transcription 3),CASP3(caspase protein),

Studies of XRD and FTIR on Synthesized Novel hybrid Thin Film Made of hydroxyapatite, Poly Vinyl Alcohol and Gelatin for Biomedical Application

With the modern advancement of treatment approaches in medical science, the application of biomaterials in tissue engineering provides a remarkable opportunity to overcome graft rejection as well as proper wound healing. In this study, novel hybrid films have been synthesized by incorporation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatin, and gelatin with glycerin along with different concentrations of pre-prepared hydroxyapatite (hAP) by solution casting method at room temperature in a biosafety cabinet. Glutaraldehyde has been added as a crosslinker in this whole procedure. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) have been conducted to observe and compare the structural and chemical stability of the synthesized hybrid film properties. The FTIR results and X-Ray Diffraction analyses confirmed the chemical interactions between hAP, PVA, gelatin, and glycerin have occurred. The crystallinity of hAP also remains in all the prepared hybrid film samples that are observed in XRD. It is expected that these newly synthesized hybrid films could be a better opportunity for various sectors of tissue engineering such as skin, bone, tendon, and cartilage. These synthesized hybrid films can be suitable for wound healing covering. These studies could be a new scope for long-term drug delivery directly on wound sites in diabetic gangrene foot or burn patients as well as cartilage or joint replacement therapy.
