Evaluation of antihepatotoxic potential of Solanum xanthocarpum fruit extract against antitubercular drugs induced hepatopathy in experimental rodents

Objective:To assess the hepatoprotective effect of Solanum xanthocarpum(S. xanthocarpum) fruit extract against antitubercular drug-induced liver toxicity in experimental ***:Ethanolic(50%) fruit extract ofS. xanthocarpum(100, 200 and 400 mg/kg bw) was administered daily for 35 days in experimental animals. Liver toxicity was induced by combination of three antitubercular drugs [isoniazid(I) 7.5 mg/kg, rifampicin(R) 10 mg/kg and pyrazinamide(P) 35 mg/kg] given orally as suspension for 35 days in rats. The hepatoprotective activity was assessed using various biochemical parameters like aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), alkaline phosphatise(ALP), total bilirubin(TBL), albumin(ALB), total protein(TP), lactate dehydroginase(LDH), and serum cholesterol(CHL). Meanwhile,in vivoantioxidant activities as lipid peroxidation(LPO), reduced glutathione(GSH), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) were measured in rat liver homogenate. The biochemical observations were supplemented by histopathological ***:The results demonstrated that treatment ***(P<0.05-P<0.001) and dose-dependently prevented drug induced increase in serum levels of hepatic enzymes. Furthermore,S. xanthocarpumsignificantly(up toP<0.001) reduced the LPO in the liver tissue and restored activities of defence antioxidant enzymes GSH, SOD and CAT towards normal levels. Histopathology of the liver tissue showed that S. xanthocarpumattenuated the hepatocellular necrosis and led to reduction in inflammatory cells ***:The results of this study strongly indicate the protective effect of S. xanthocarpumagainst liver injury which may be attributed to its hepatoprotective activity, and thereby scientifically support its traditional use.

A comparative study of the antioxidant,antimicrobial,cytotoxic and thrombolytic potential of the fruits and leaves of Spondias dulcis

Objective:To investigate the antioxidant,antimicrobial,cytotoxic and thrombolytic property of the fruits and leaves of Spondias dulcis（***）.Methods:Methanolic extracts of fruits and leaves of *** were partitioned with chloroform and *** antioxidant potential of the crude extract and partitioned fractions were evaluated in terms of total phenolic content,total flavonoid content,DPPH radical scavenging potential,reducing potential and total antioxidant capacity by specific standard *** antimicrobial activity was evaluated using disc diffusion *** cytotoxicity was evaluated by using brine shrimp lethality bioassay and compared with vincristine *** thrombolytic activity was compared with ***:The methanolic fruit extract exhibited the highest phenolic content,flavonoid content and antioxidant capacity,among the other extracts,with the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity at a concentration of 10μg/mL(IC50:1.91μg/mL)and maximum reducing power at a concentration of 100μg/ml.(EC50:3.58μg/mL).Though all extract showed moderate antimicrobial activity against the bacterial strains,weak or no activity against *** range of LC50value of all extracts was 1.335-14.057μg/mL which was far lower than the cut off index for *** extracts exhibited statistically significant（P<0.001）thrombolytic ***:Our study suggested that *** exhibits antimicrobial activities against a wide variety of strains while it possesses significant antioxidant,cytotoxic and thrombolytic aclivily.

Sustainable Use of Steel Industry Slag (SIS) for Concrete Production: A State Art of Review

This paper presents a review on the sustainable use of steel industry slag (SIS) in the construction industry for sustainable development. This issue also may contribute significantly to attain the sustainable development goal (SDG). If feasible sector is not determined earlier for the use of SIS for the country like Bangladesh then the unproductive uses will be increased and as well without large-scale utilization, direct dumping of SIS will create environmental hazards. On the other hand, the sustainable use of SIS in concrete production can contribute to the economic growth of the country;in addition, it can also contribute to keeping our natural environment safe from hazardous pollution. Another observation of this study is SIS used in cement and concrete production as aggregate or as additional cementing materials has a long-term strength and durability. Besides, replacement of cement with SIS deferred the hydration reaction at early ages, without any significant troubles. Furthermore, it can also be mentioned that high replacement of SIS with cement may raise a problem of volume instability which can be solved by using ground-granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) as combined admixture and the slump problem of concrete mixtures can be adjusted with addition of copper slag or class F fly ash. Feasibility analysis of SIS usage and an awareness program for all the stakeholders may be implemented for the sustainable uses of SIS. Both of these will play a vital role to safeguard environment in addition to economic growth of the country.

Objective:To investigate the inflammatory and antioxidant activities of ethanolie extract of aerial part of Vernonia patula(Dryand.)Merr(EAV).Methods:The anti-inflammatory activity of EAV was studied using carrageenan and histamine-induced rat paw edema test at different doses(100.200 and 400 mg/kg body weight).DPPH free radical scavenging,nitric oxide scavenging,reducing power and Fe^(2+)ion chelating ability were used for determining antioxidant ***:The EAV,at the dose of 400 mg/kg,showed a significant anti-inflammatory activity(P<0.01)both in the carrageenan and histamine-induced oedema test models in rats,showing62.86%and 64.42%reduction in the paw volume comparable to that produced by the standard drug indomethacin(67.26%and 66.01%)at 5 h *** DPPH free radical scavenging test,IC_(50)value for EAV was found fairly significant 36.59μg/mL when compared to the IC_(50)value of the reference standards ascorbic acid 8.97μg/*** IC_(50)values of the extract and ascorbic acid were 47.72 and 12.39μg/mL,respectively in nitric oxide scavenging *** IC_(50)value of the EAV(33.59μg/mL)as percentage of Fe^(2+)ion chelating ability was also found significant compared to that of EDTA(9.16μg/mL).The maximum absorbance for reducing power assay was found to be1.928 at 100μg/mL when compared to 2.449 for standard ascorbic *** total phenolic content was 198.81 mg/g of gallic acid *** toxicity test showed that the plant might be safe for pharmacological uses up to a dose level of 3200 mg/kg of body weight in ***:Therefore,the obtained results suggest the acute anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of the EAV and thus provide the scientific basis for the traditional uses of this plant part as a remedy for inflammations.

The design of reliable controllers for wind energy conversion systems(WECSs)requires a dynamic model and accurate parameters of the wind *** this paper,a dynamic model and the parameter measurement and control of a direct-drive variable-speed WECS with a permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG)are *** experimental method is developed for measuring the key parameters of the *** measured parameters are used in the design of the *** generator-side converter is controlled using a vector control scheme that maximizes the power extraction under varying wind speeds.A model predictive controller(MPC)is designed for the grid-side voltage source converter(VSC)to regulate the active and reactive power flows to the power grid by controlling the d-and q-axis currents in the synchronous reference *** MPC predicts the future values of the control variables and takes control actions based on the minimum value of the cost *** comply with the grid code requirement,a modified design approach for an LCL filter is presented and incorporated into the *** design process is simple and incorporates significant filter parameters while avoiding iterative *** comparative analysis of the designed filter with conventional L,LC,and iterative LCL filters demonstrates the effectiveness of the modified design *** proposed wind energy system with MPC and LCL filter is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink and experimentally implemented in the laboratory using the dSpace digital signal processor(DSP)*** simulation and experimental results validate the efficacy of the designed controllers using the measured parameters and show dynamic and steady-state performance under varying wind speeds.

Performance Evaluation of a miniPET Camera for Brain Scanning

A nuclear miniPET camera was constructed with 2 bucket rings, each having 8 BGO detector modules for brain scanning. After calibration of the camera, an experimental investigation of sensitivity was carried out to evaluate the performance of this PET scanner. The characteristics of NECR were examined for comparisons of count rate considering the statistical noise due to scattered and random events. NECR performance was observed using 10 cm diameter phantom filled with 1 L water and 240 MBq of 18F. All data were acquired in 2D acquisition mode but without septa. Randoms were estimated by introducing delay into the coincidence circuit which was an extra 100 ns time delay. Multiples were recorded simultaneously with the prompt and delayed events. The true plus scattered coincidence events were calculated as the difference between prompt and random plus multiple events. After recording all the data, the noise equivalent count rate (NECR) was calculated and graphically presented. It is observed that NEC value is significantly lower than other similar scanners. Comparing the individual components of the count rate, a much higher randoms rate is observed for the camera because of the absence of any side shielding, so that out of field activity contributes significantly to the randoms rate and hence reduces the NECR value.

在最近的近十年里,很多发展中国家致力于促进智能电网的建设与发展。应用智能电网相比传统电网,可以通过用户用电行为辨识算法来判断用户的用电模式并进行分类,对实现需求响应和电价制定具有重要意义。针对K均值算法中用电数据特征选取策略问题,本文提出了一种考虑特征间相关关系的迭代型特征优选策略。首先基于DBI指标对不同特征组合下的K均值聚类效果来作为特征选取的标准;然后,建立特征优选模型,通过实验将备选特征优选后加入优选特征组合;最后,基于特定类型的用户,实现了用电数据特征优选,完成了 K均值聚类算法的优化分析。通过电网实际功耗数据验证了该策略在提高聚类精度和降低计算复杂度方面的有效性。对用户的用电行为进行分类,以满足不同用户的不同用电需求,对于电力行业具有重要的意义。对于消费模式的分类,K均值聚类是最好的方法之一。传统的K均值聚类算法的初始聚类中心是随机选取的,使其易受局部最优值的影响,且复杂度与全局最小值选取相关。在以上特征优选的基础上,针对K均值算法随机选取初始聚类中心和人为预先设定聚类数导致算法稳定性差的问题,提出了初始聚类中心选取和类间分裂策略。实验表明,该算法相比传统的K均值算法具有更好的稳定性,可在已有聚类结果的基础上迭代进,节省计算资源。

信息和通信技术(ICT)已在许多国家被广泛接受,以促进教学实践。在孟加拉国,信息通信技术也被引入教育系统的各个阶段。目前的研究集中在位于孟加拉国农村地区(西北部)的一所中学。本研究的目的是通过调查教师对将ICT融入其教学实践的有效性的信念、他们对应用ICT的感知技能和能力以及他们在农村中学实施ICT的挑战,了解ICT整合在农村中学的现状。教学。本研究采用WST模型来调查教师对ICT的整合。本研究使用定性案例研究设计来回答研究目标。研究发现,大多数教师对将ICT融入教学和学习实践抱有积极的信念,而少数教师也持消极信念。农村中学教师可以将一些特定的教育技术融入到他们的教学活动中。然而,他们也报告说他们对数字素养、计算机素养以及将这些工具和技术整合到课堂实践中的知识匮乏。由于他们对技术和技巧的了解不足,他们在ICT集成方面的能力和信心水平较低。除此之外,他们还面临着缺乏适当培训、基础设施差、网速差、技术费用和不平等、缺乏学校技术支持以及设备不可靠等挑战。

Mobility Issue on Octagonal Structured ZigBee Network Using Riverbed

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a special type of communication medium through distributed sensor nodes. Popular wireless sensor nodes like ZigBee have splendid interoperability after IEEE 802.15.4 standardization in the domain of wireless personal area network (WPAN). ZigBee has another great feature mobility that makes the ZigBee network more versatile. The mobility feature of ZigBee mobile nodes has a greater impact on network performance than fixed nodes. This impact sometimes turns into more severe because of network structure and mobility model. This study mainly focuses on the performance analysis of the ZigBee mobile node under Random and Octagonal mobility management model with the Tree routing method. The Riverbed academic modeler is used to design, implement and simulate the ZigBee network under certain conditions. This study also presents a competitive performance analysis based on ZigBee mobile nodes transmitter and receiver characteristics under the observation of the mobility model. This indicates that Octagonal mobility model exhibits better performance than the Random mobility model. This study will constitute a new way for further designing and planning a reliable and efficient ZigBee network.
