Background: Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) is a surgical procedure that has gained popularity due to its potential benefits over traditional coronary artery bypass grafting, including reduced morbidity and mortality. However, sternal wound complication (SWC) remains challenging following the procedure. The technique of left internal mammary artery (LIMA) harvesting has been shown to impact the incidence of SWC. This study aimed to compare the incidence of SWC between two techniques of LIMA harvesting, i.e., skeletonized and pedicled. Methods: The study was conducted at the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, and included 60 patients who underwent OPCAB. The patients were divided into two groups of 30 each based on the technique of LIMA harvesting used, i.e., skeletonized (group A) or pedicled (group B). The postoperative ICU care was given to each patient as per the protocol. The statistical analysis was conducted using the SPSS version 26.0 for Windows software. Results: The results showed that 5 (8.33%) patients developed SWC, with 1 (1.67%) patient in group A and 4 (6.66%) patients in group B. However, the occurrence of SWC was not statistically significant between the two groups (p = 0.35). The mean age, gender distribution, and comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and anemia were also not statistically significant between the two groups. The number of smokers was statistically significant between the two groups (p = 0.03), and the occurrence of SWC was found to be higher in smoker patients in group B (p = 0.04). Preoperative and postoperative parameters such as duration of operation, duration of mechanical ventilation, duration of chest drains, duration of the central venous line, and amount of postoperative mediastinal bleeding were also not statistically significant between the two groups. This paper provides a technical analysis of energy harvesting (EH) in the field of power and energy sector, including different aspects of harvesting energy, individual case history, control strategies of harvesting in the field of power and energy sector together with the current trend and future aspects of it. EH is comparatively a new concept which is growing very fast since the 20th century and catching new generation research approaches. This paper not only describes the past and current scenarios of harvesting energy with radio frequency (RF) and renewables but also gives author’s own anticipation of the upcoming future trends of it by comparing the case histories.

The Ball and beam system(BBS)is an attractive laboratory experimental tool because of its inherent nonlinear and open-loop unstable *** an effective ball and beam system controller is a real challenge for researchers and *** this paper,the control design technique is investigated by using Intelligent Dynamic Inversion(IDI)method for this nonlinear and unstable *** proposed control law is an enhanced version of conventional Dynamic Inversion control incorporating an intelligent control element in *** Moore-PenroseGeneralized Inverse(MPGI)is used to invert the prescribed constraint dynamics to realize the baseline control law.A sliding mode-based intelligent control element is further augmented with the baseline control to enhance the robustness against uncertainties,nonlinearities,and external *** semi-global asymptotic stability of IDI control is guaranteed in the sense of *** simulations and laboratory experiments are carried out on this ball and beam physical system to analyze the effectiveness of the *** addition to that,comparative analysis of RGDI control with classical Linear Quadratic Regulator and Fractional Order Controller are also presented on the experimental test bench.

Many metal complexes of Schiff base derived from different amino acids are widely employed as biologically active materials, especially as antibacterial agents. Three new metal [Co(III), Mn(II) and La(III)] complexes with the Schiff base (L) derived from salicylaldehyde and amino acid (methionine) were synthesized and investigated by using various physico-chemical techniques such as elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, magnetic measurement, thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) method. From spectral studies, it has been concluded that the synthesized ligand acts as a tetra-dentate molecule, coordinates metal through azomethine nitrogen, sulfur, phenolic oxygen and carboxylate oxygen. UV-visible spectrophotometry showed the characteristic absorption bands corresponding to a square planar geometry for La(III) and Mn(II) metal complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Co(III) complex. The XRD data demonstrated that the manganese and cobalt complexes were crystalline but the lanthanum complex was amorphous in nature. The empirical formula of the synthesized complexes based on analytical data were [Co(C12H13SNO3)]·(NO3), [La(C12H13SNO3)](Cl)(H2O) and [Mn (C12H13SNO3)].

Water Soluble Ionic Species in the Atmospheric Fine Particulate Matters (PM2.5) in a Southeast Asian Mega City (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Atmospheric fine particulate matters (PM2.5) were collected with an Envirotech Instrument (Model APM 550) at the roof of Khundkur Mukarram Hussain Science Building, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh between January and February, 2013. PM2.5 samples were collected on Quartz fiber filters during day and night time. Water soluble ions (sulfate, nitrate, phosphate, chloride, bromide, sodium, potassium and calcium) were analyzed with Ion Chromatography (Model 881, Metrohm Ltd., Switzerland) and Flame photometer (Model PFP7, Jenway, UK). Average PM2.5 mass was 136.1 μg·mǅ during day time and 246.8 μg·mǅ during night time with a total average of 191.4 μg·mǅ. Nighttime PM2.5 concentration was about double compared than that of daytime presumable due to the low ambient temperatures with high emissions from heavy duty vehicles. The 24-hour average PM2.5 mass (average of day and night) was about eight times higher than WHO (25.0 μg·mǅ) and about three times higher than DoE, Bangladesh (65.0 μg·mǅ) limit values. The total average concentrations of sulfate, nitrate, phosphate, bromide, chloride, sodium, potassium and calcium were 5.30, 7.75, 0.62, 0.16, 1.19, 1.30, 8.11, and 3.09 μg·mǅ, respectively. The concentrations of the water soluble ions were much higher during nighttime than daytime except nitrate, bromide and potassium. Excellent correlations were observed between sulfate and nitrate, sodium and chloride, bromide and phosphate indicating joint sources of origin. Potassium, sulfate, nitrate and calcium are the most dominant species in PM2.5. Water soluble ionic components in Dhaka contributed about 15% mass of the PM2.5. Ratio analysis showed that sodium and chloride were from mainly sea salt. Potassium has varieties of sources other than biomass burning. Sulfate and nitrate are mainly from fossil fuel origin. Background Although hydrostatic reduction of intussusception with ultrasound(US)or fluoroscopy guidance is well known,it is not yet well established in many low-income and middle-income *** aim of the study is to report our results of hydrostatic reduction with intermittent radiography,which has the potential to be practiced in resource-limited *** We retrospectively analyzed our patients with intussusception from 2009 to 2019(11 years).Hydrostatic reduction was performed using water-soluble contrast medium(iopamidol),and reduction was followed with intermittent X-rays taken after every 50 mL of diluted contrast *** procedure was not continuously monitored by US or *** in outcome based on age and gender,and yearly trends of admission for intussusception,types of treatment and mortality were *** Among 672 patients,the ratio of boys to girls was 2.46:1.0,and their ages ranged from 1 month to 15 years(median 8 months).Hydrostatic reduction was performed successfully in 351(52.23%)patients;308(45.83%)patients underwent surgery;and 13(1.93%)patients died before any *** were significant differences in age between patients with successful hydrostatic reduction(median 7 months)and patients needing surgery(median 9 months)(p<0.001).The number of successful hydrostatic reductions increased during the 11 years of the study(R2=0.88).One patient(0.15%)died after hydrostatic reduction,and 10(1.49%)died after *** Hydrostatic reduction with intermittent radiography was performed successfully in more than half of the patients with acceptable complication rates.
