Fabrication of graphene oxide-keratin-chitosan nanocomposite as an adsorbent to remove turbidity from tannery wastewater

Excessive turbidity in water is aesthetically unappealing and severely malfunctions the photosynthesis process of aquatic ecosystems. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a nanocomposite adsorbent made of graphene oxide-keratin-chitosan for removing turbidity from tannery influent. The nanocomposite was fabricated with simple solution casting methods. Material dispersibility, bonding between composite materials (amide linkage), and the surface morphology of the nanocomposite were analyzed with the ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. At pH of 6, 2 g/L of adsorbent and a 25-min contact time resulted in about 88% of turbidity elimination. After the adsorption process, the total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, salinity, biochemical oxygen demand, and chemical oxygen demand of the tannery wastewater were reduced by 55%, 29%, 12%, 58%, and 75%, respectively. The optimum dosage of the nanocomposite with the maximum turbidity removal capacity was 12.62 mg/g. According the adsorption kinetic and isotherm models, the graphene oxide-keratin-chitosan nanocomposite played a key role in the turbidity removal process with chemisorption and electrostatic multilayer adsorption. This study provided methodological and mechanistic insights into the procedures of investigating the removal of turbidity from tannery wastewater with a novel composite material.

Innovation and Validation of Neuropsychopharmacological Testing Methods for the Assessment of Memory, Attention and Cognition in Human Participants

To meet the challenges of time searching for the new method for neuropsychopharmacology is still an ongoing process. In this experiment, we proposed and validated three neuropsychopharmacological testing methods, which are Matching Capacity (MC), Dissimilarity Identification (DI) and Sense Making (SM) tests for the estimation of memory, attention and cognition respectively in healthy aged human participants. The purpose of this experiment was to generate more effective testing methods for the determination of memory, attention and cognition in human. To endorse proposed methods a randomized double blind placebo controlled clinical trial was conducted among healthy aged human participants between the period of December 2015 and February 2016. The experiment was conducted at Gazipur Sadar, Gazipur-1703, Dhaka, Bangladesh and the experiment center was the Department of Pharmacy, Southeast University, Dhaka-1213, Bangladesh. In this experiment, 60 healthy male participants between the age of 42 to 50 years were selected and divided into 4 groups with 15 participants in each by simple randomization process. Ginkgo biloba standardized extract’s capsule (Giloba?) and Bacopa monnieri standardized extract’s syrup (Monera?) were used as standard. Psyllium seed husk (i.e., seed of the Plantago ovata) was incorporated in the hard gelatin capsule shell (size 0) to prepare capsule and used as a placebo control of the capsule (PCC). Excipients of oral liquid preparation of vitamin were used to prepare syrup and used as a placebo control of the syrup (PCS). The treatment procedure for group 1 was Ginkgo biloba standardized extract’s capsule (120 mg/capsule), 3 times daily for 21 days;group 2 was treated with Bacopa monnieri standardized extract’s syrup (1.21 g/5 ml), 2 teaspoonfuls, 3 times daily for 21 days. Effects of Hydromagnetic and Thermophoresis of Unsteady Forced Convection Boundary Layer Flow over Flat Plates

In this paper, we analyze unsteady two dimensional hydromagnetic forced convection boundary layer flow of a viscous incompressible fluid along flat plates with thermophoresis. The potential flow velocity has been taken as a function of the distance x and time t. The governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary differential equation by applying local similarity transformation. The resulting similarity equations are then solved numerically for unsteady case, applying Nachtsheim-Swigert shooting iteration technique with six order Runge-Kutta method. The variations in fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically and discussed for different material parameters entering into the analysis. The effects of the pertinent parameters on the skin-friction coefficient, wall heat transfer coefficient and wall deposition flux rate are also displayed in tabulated form and discussed them from the physical point of view. An analysis of the obtained results shows that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the magnetic field parameter and the thermophoresis particle deposition.

Floods are one of nature's most destructive disasters because of the immense damage to land,buildings,and human *** is difficult to forecast the areas that are vulnerable to flash flooding due to the dynamic and complex nature of the flash ***,earlier identification of flash flood susceptible sites can be performed using advanced machine learning models for managing flood *** this study,we applied and assessed two new hybrid ensemble models,namely Dagging and Random Subspace(RS)coupled with Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Random Forest(RF),and Support Vector Machine(SVM)which are the other three state-of-the-art machine learning models for modelling flood susceptibility maps at the Teesta River basin,the northern region of *** application of these models includes twelve flood influencing factors with 413 current and former flooding points,which were transferred in a GIS *** information gain ratio,the multicollinearity diagnostics tests were employed to determine the association between the occurrences and flood influential *** the validation and the comparison of these models,for the ability to predict the statistical appraisal measures such as Freidman,Wilcoxon signed-rank,and t-paired tests and Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve(ROC)were *** value of the Area Under the Curve(AUC)of ROC was above 0.80 for all *** flood susceptibility modelling,the Dagging model performs superior,followed by RF,the ANN,the SVM,and the RS,then the several benchmark *** approach and solution-oriented outcomes outlined in this paper will assist state and local authorities as well as policy makers in reducing flood-related threats and will also assist in the implementation of effective mitigation strategies to mitigate future damage.

Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) remains the major cause of mortality and morbidity in the entire world population despite therapeutic advances that control many risk factors. Lipid profile is regarded as an important factor in the development of coronary heart disease. There have been numerous studies confirming the association of hyperlipidemias with coronary heart disease in most of the Western as well as Asian countries of the world. But we have very little data on the relation between CHD and lipid profile. Aim of the Study: The aim of this study was to assess abnormal lipid levels and their association with coronary heart disease. Methods: This comparative observational study was conducted at the Department of Cardiology in M. Abdur Rahim Medical College, Dinajpur, Bangladesh from January 2019 to December 2019. Properly written consent was taken from all the participants before starting the main part of the investigation. Obeying inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study, a total of 131 participants were finalized as the study population. Among them, the Case Group was formed with 90 patients who had CHD, and with 41 healthy people, the Control Group was formed. All necessary data were collected, analyzed, and disseminated by several programs of MS-Office and SPSS version 23. An Inventory Model of Production with Level Dependent Demand Allowing Few Defective Items

This paper considers a model regarding the products with finite life which allows defective items in reproduction and causes a small amount of decay. The market demand is assumed to be level dependent linear type. The model has also considered the constant production rate which stops after a desired level of inventories and that is the highest level of it. Due to the market demand, defective item and product’s decay, the inventory reduces to the zero level where again the production cycle starts. With a numerical search procedure, the proof of the proposed model has been shown. The objective of the proposed model is to find out the total optimum inventory cost, optimum ordering cost and optimum ordering cycle.

Salt stress is one of the major limitations to modern agriculture that negatively inﬂuences plant growth and *** tolerant cultivar can provide excellent solution to enhance stress tolerance with plantﬁtness to unfavorable ***,this study was aimed to screen salt tolerant sorghum genotypes through evaluating of different morphological,biochemical,and physiological attributes in response to salinity *** this study,we have been evaluated total six sorghum genotypes including Hybrid sorgo,Debgiri,BD-703,BD-706,BD-707,and BD-725 under salt stress(12 dS m^(-1) NaCl).The response variables included length and weight of root and shoot,root:shoot ratio(RSR),photosynthesis(A),transpiration rate(E),elemental concen-trations(K^(+),Na^(+) and K^(+)/Na^(+)),photochemical efﬁciency of photosystem II(F_(v)/F_(m)),water use efﬁciency(WUE)and pigment content(chlorophyll a,and b).The results revealed that saline environment signiﬁcantly reduced all response variables under study of sorghum genotypes,however,Hybrid sorgo remained unmatched by recording the maximum root and shoot *** same genotype recorded higher photosynthetic efﬁciency which was attributed to Na^(+) extrusion,K^(+) uptake and higher K^(+)/Na^(+) ratio(1.8 at stress),while these mechanisms were not fully active in rest of ***,this study also implies the involvement of proline in imparting tolerance against saline environment in Hybrid sorgo ***,BD-703 remained the most salt sensitive genotype as evident from the minimum morphological growth traits and the least biosynthesis of ***ﬁndings open new research avenues for salt stress alleviation by identifying elite salt-to-lerant genotypes of sorghum for breeding programs.

Technological advancements in smart grid energy systems (SGESs) are introducing sustainable frameworksto meet the demand for the fourth industrial energy revolution. These frameworks are planned to be usedin the forthcoming future to maintain the energy network operation with optimization, energy trading, gridautomation, and so on. Blockchain (BCn), developing after passing a diverse period of the research journey,comes to the mind of researchers and its integration in SGES paves the way to reach the goal of energydemand. However, still of interest is ongoing in the improvement of BCn features which can be regarded asthe next-generation blockchain framework. This paper exhibits the technical framework of the next-generationBCn framework and explores its benefits and challenges in performing the emerging aspects of SGES. Thisframework enables some advanced features for the sustainable operation of SGES like smart metering, peer-topeer (P2P) energy trading, self-operation, and transparency. The technical explanation of this BCn technologyestablished on essential features and requisites is also presented in this paper from various points of viewwhich include smart mechanism, intelligent storage system, and interoperability. We also highlight the recentprogress and limitations of the current BCn framework in SGES. Finally, some challenges towards integratingthe next-generation BCn technology in SGES are reported. This work can provide extended support for thepractitioner and researcher in the context of BCn technology and SGES.
