Objective:To assess the effects of a widely used antibiotic,oxytetracycline(OTC)on the bacterial microflora in two catfish species under artificial culture conditions in the ***:The experiment was conducted in the Faculty of Fisheries,Bangladesh Agricultural University,*** fish were reared in six aquaria(size 37 cm×30 cm×60 cm)where three aquaria served as replicates of the antibiotic treatment groups and the remaining three aquaria served as an untreated control *** aquarium was stocked with 25 fish on an average body weight 15 *** was administered to the fish in the treatment groups at the rate of 2 g/kg in-feed twice daily upto ad libitum,whereas fish in the untreated control groups were given the same feed without antibiotics for 20 *** the experiment,bacterial loads were estimated as colony forming unit(CFU/g)by every alternate day in the aquarium water,gills,skin and intestine of ***:The administration of OTC in feed resulted in gradual decrease of bacterial loads in the gills,intestine and skin of the two catfish species *** contrast,the bacterial loads remain unchanged or slightly increased in the control groups not fed with *** quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen,pH and total hardness were found to be within suitable range in the test aquaria but not in control aquarium throughout the experimental ***:The results of this experiment showed that in-feed antibiotic OTC for a period of 20d reduced the bacterial loads in the gills,intestines and skin of treated fish.

Yield of Wheat (Triticum aestivum) and Nutrient Uptake in Grain and Straw as Influenced by Some Macro (S &Mg) and Micro (B &Zn) Nutrients

A wheat variety BARI Gom 26 was cultivated with an objective of evaluating the effects of macro/secondary nutrients as S and Mg, and micro nutrients as B and Zn on yield, yield contributing traits and nutrient uptake status by the crop. The field experiment was con-ducted in the “North Eastern Barind Tract Soils” at Kushadaha, Nawabganj, Dinajpur, Bangladesh from November, 2014 to March, 2015. The surface soil was clay in texture, having pH 5.61, organic matter 1.58%, total N 0.10%, available P 7.03 ppm, exchangeable K 0.11 meq/100g, available S 2.57 ppm, exchangeable Mg 0.55 meq/100g, available Zn 1.30 ppm, available B 0.08 ppm. The experiment was designed with five treatments laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments were T1: NPK (control), T2: NPK + S, T3: NPK + S + Mg, T4: NPK + S + Mg + Zn and T5: NPK + S + Mg + Zn + B. All plots of wheat received 100 kg N/ha, 30 kg P/ha and 70 kg K/ha as basal dose. The secondary and micro nutrients doses were 15 kg S/ha, 6 kg Mg/ha, 2.5 kg Zn/ha and 1.5 kg B/ha. Results revealed that the plant height, tillers/hill, 1000-grain weight, yield of grain and straw, uptake of some specific nutrients in grain and straw were signifi-cantly influenced by all the treatments, though these treatments did not show any identical effect on spike length, content of P and Mg in wheat. Significantly highest amount of 1000-grain weight, yield of grain and straw weight of wheat were obtained in applying T2 treatment that employed the addition of S with recommended dose of NPK. Significant positive effects were also observed for the rest parameters in receiving the treatments composed of secondary and micronutrients (T3, T4, and T5). The highest concentration of nutrient uptake N, P, K and S in grain and straw of wheat were also obtained due to the application of T2 treatment. Development of Nanostructure Formation of Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9Alloy from Amorphous State on Heat Treatment

Iron-based amorphous alloys have attracted technological and scientific interests due to their excellent soft magnetic properties. The typical nanocrystalline alloy with the composition of Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 known as FINEMENT has been studied for structural properties analysis. Recently, it is found that after proper annealing the amorphous alloy like Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 has a transition to the nanocrystalline state, thus exhibiting good magnetic properties. The alloy in the form of ribbon of 10 mm width and 25mm thickness with the composition of Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 was prepared by rapid quenching method. The prepared ribbon sample has been annealed for 30 min in a controlled way in the temperature range 490℃ - 680℃. By analyzing X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, various structural parameters such as lattice parameters, grain size and silicon content of the nanocrystalline Fe(Si) grains, crystallization behavior and nanocrystalline phase formation have been investigated. In the nanocrystalline state, Cu helps the nucleation of α-Fe(Si) grains while Nb controls their growth, Si and B has been used as glass forming materials. Thus on the residual amorphous, the nanometric Fe(Si) grains develops. From broadening of fundamental peaks, the optimum grain size has been determined in the range of 7 - 23 nm.

Dyeing of S/J Cotton Knit Fabric with Natural Dye Extracts from Green Walnut Shells: Assessment of Mordanting Effect on Fastness Properties

In this study, aqueous extraction method is used because of its high extraction ratio, light fastness and also functional properties. In 1st phase, for dyeing S/J cotton knit fabric with green walnut power ferrous sulfate is considered as a mordant. In this study, three different mordanting methods such as pre-, meta-, and post-mordanting are conveyed the dyeing process with the state of metallic mordant and without metallic salt mordants. In 2nd phase, in dyeing for fixation ferrous sulfate was considered as mordants. Furthermore, the analysis and evaluation of each colour dyed material was done through following two terms for instance CIELAB (L*, a*, and b*) and K/S values. According to AATCC test methods, colour fastness to washing, crocking, perspiration of the dyed samples is determined whereas according to the ISO standard, the colour fastness to light was estimated and tested. When dyeing was carried out on S/J cotton knit fabric through considering optimum parameter like at 80°C for 60 min and at pH 4 which showed optimum results. From the results we can see, very good wash fastness was obtained while there is no fading of the colour, whereas the outstanding and moderate level of colour fastness to light and crocking is achieved.

Objective:To assess the catch composition and seasonal variation in catch of set bagnet fishery from the coastal Payra river,to understand the importance and impact of set bagnet fishery on biodiversity and fisheries,and to find out feasible strategies to reduce the negative impact of set bagnet ***:The research was conducted with selection of research area,preparation of gear survey and catch assessment form,sample collection,laboratory analysis and selection of analytical methods to achieve the objectives of the ***:A total of 52 species belonging to 23 families were recorded from set bagnet in the Payra *** important commercial fishes and their annual catch by set bagnet in the study area were 51.03 MT Ilish(Tenualosa ilisha),8.83 MT Rita(Rita rita),6.92 MT Air(Sperata aor),4.72 MT Chital(Chitala chitala),2.03 MT Boal(Wallago attu),1.84 MT Baghair(Bagarius bagarius),3.35 MT Foli(Notopterus notopterus)and 13.46 MT Golda chingri(Macrobrachium rosenbergii).All these species were mostly caught at initial stages of their life cycle,which usually move with the tidal ***:Study suggested that set bagnet should be restricted to allowable limit with strong monitoring system for the protection and conservation of valuable fish species in the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

孟加拉国各省、区的人口分布存在着不均衡的特点，采取定量分析的方法，选取人口密度指数、胡佛指数和非均质性指数（index of concentration，Hoover’s index and in—homogeneity index）指标来分析孟加拉国人口分布现有的不平等程度和非均质性。研究结果表明，孟加拉国各省、区的人口集中都存在增加的趋势。同时，通过对斯皮尔曼等级相关系数（Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient）的计算，分析孟加拉国的各地区土地面积和人口密度的关系，发现二者之间存在着较大的负相关关系。

目的:目前临床上治疗锁骨中段骨折最常用的是锁定钢板,桥接组合式内固定系统是一种新型内固定器械,其用于治疗锁骨中段骨折时间并不长,但是国内许多学者已经发表了很多篇临床研究来比较两者的疗效,但是尚无统一意见。文章对桥接组合式内固定系统和锁定钢板治疗锁骨中段骨折的临床疗效进行Meta分析。方法:应用计算机检索PubMed、Medline、The Cochrane Library、迈特思创FMRS外文医学信息平台、OVID医学期刊全文数据库、维普、中国知网和万方数字化期刊平台,收集2010年1月至2020年4月发表的对比桥接组合式内固定系统和锁定钢板治疗锁骨中段骨折的临床对照试验。根据纳入标准和排除标准筛选文献,采用Jadad量表和MINORS评分表进行文献质量评估,对纳入的研究进行质量评价以及数据提取,选择手术时间、术中出血量、骨折愈合时间、并发症及术后1年肩关节功能评分作为Meta分析的评价指标,利用Cochrane协作网提供的RevMan 5.2软件对纳入研究结果进行Meta分析。结果:①文章纳入了中文及外文文献共9篇,其中随机对照试验3篇,非随机对照试验6篇,共计613例锁骨中段骨折的患者,其中桥接组280例,钢板组333例;②通过Meta分析可得:两种方法在术后肩关节功能(md=3.23,95%CI:0.13-6.33,P=0.04)方面差异无显著性意义,但桥接组在手术时间(md=-4.62,95%CI:-9.08至-0.16,P=0.04)、术中出血量(md=-15.29,95%CI:-15.81至-14.47,Pmd=-2.88,95%CI:-3.10至-2.65,P<0.00001)和总体并发症(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.09-0.48,P=0.0002)方面均优于钢板组。结论:桥接组合式内固定系统与锁定钢板两种内固定技术治疗锁骨中段骨折,均能达到预期的治疗效果,两种修复方法在术后肩关节功能方面无显著差异,桥接组合式内固定系统在手术时间、术中出血量、骨折愈合时间及总体并发症方面较锁定钢板有一定优势。但限于该研究方法学质量的影响,文章结果还需谨慎对待,未来尚需要更多大样本、多中心随机对照试验进一步证实。

Generation of Virus Free Potato Plantlets through Meristem Culture and Their Field Evaluation

Different aspects of micropropagation through meristem culture for the production of virus indexed source plants, in vitro tuberization and field evaluation of the in vitro regenerated plants were studied on four commercial cultivars of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) viz., Diamant, Cardinal, Shilbilati and Lalpakri. The investigation was conducted at Rajshahi, Bangladesh from December 2010 to March 2012 to produce virus-free potato plantlets through meristem culture, shoot multiplications with root induction as well as their acclimatization and evaluation of morphological characters and tuber yield under field condition. Shoot tips of 25 - 30 day old field-grown plants of above mentioned four cultivars were used for meristem isolation. After isolation, meristems of these varieties of potato were cultured on “M” shaped filter paper bridge in Murashige and Skoog (MS) liquid medium. Identification of Aflatoxigenic Fungi and Detection of Their Aflatoxin in Red Chilli (Capsicum annuum) Samples Using Direct Cultural Method and HPLC

Aflatoxins are the potential lethal toxin produced by Aspergillus sp. important health hazard throughout the world. In this study, 26 Aspergillus sp. have been isolated from 50 samples of red chilli collected throughout the country. These 26 isolates were grown primarily on agar media to identify the aflatoxin producing species. It is possible to distinguish A. flavus strains from other Aspergillus sp. developing orange colour on the reverse of the plates. The Coconut Cream Agar (CCA) is used to detect aflatoxin producer strains having blue fluorescence when exposed to a UV-light. Several other media were used for morphological characteristics of Aspergillus sp. Out of 26 isolates, four isolates were confirmed as Aspergillus sp. These isolates were subjected to cross contamination with freshly ground, sterile maize and after 15 days of incubation the contaminated maize were analyzed by HPLC and found aflatoxin in each of the sample containing 186 ppb (max.). This study was conducted to assay the ability to produce aflatoxins by the Aspergillus spp. isolated from red chilli (Capsicum annuum L. Solanaceae) available throughout the country. The results found in the experiment are much more behind the acceptable limit according to some international standard. As red chilli is a widely used spice in Bangladesh, the proper controlling measures may be taken for controlling the surveillance of aflatoxinic fungi like as use of bio-pesticides, proper drying method and storage conditions.

Effect of Natural Disasters and Their Coping Strategies in the Kuakata Coastal Belt of Patuakhali Bangladesh

Bangladesh has experienced a number of severe natural disasters. Most recently, tropical storms Aila, Sidr and Mohaseen have affected the Kuakata coastal belt. These natural disasters have had substantial negative impacts on natural resources. Development of coping strategies for the protection of natural resources across this belt is significantly important. The present research is focused on the effects of tropical storms on crops, humans, fish, livestock and infrastructure. There were 99 fatalities recorded during the Sidr and Aila natural disasters. These disasters impacted 910.94 ha (Sidr) and 973.69 ha (Aila) of cropland. The total number of affected livestock and fishes such as, 18,200 fish ponds, 1209 cattle, 3324 goats, 6888 chickens, 1716 ducks, 103 buffalo and 144 sheep. After tropical cyclones of Sidr, Aila, Heavy rainstorms and Mohaseen 12,970, 17,703, 10,050 and 2500 households respectively reported some form of damage. Cattle, goat, chicken and buffalo were found more injured than other livestock due to the natural disasters of Sidr. Temperature and wind speed were both found to be statistically significant (p ≤ 0.05) with humidity. Climatic parameters trend has been increased significantly since 1979. Regular monitoring of climatic variables, preparedness activities, and coping strategies would be significantly important for this coastal communities.
