Nutritional, Textural, Sensory Properties and Storage Stability Evaluation of Newly Formulated Strawberry Bar

An analytical study was conducted to develop a strawberry bar and analysis of the nutritional quality and storage stability of a newly formulated strawberry bar. In proximate analysis moisture, ash, pH, acidity, vitamin C, total phenolic content, and antioxidant of strawberry pulp were found 82%, 0.5%, 2.57, 1.38%, 49 mg/100g, 0.33%, 75.17% whereas, in the strawberry bar, it was found 18%, 0.71%, 2.10, 1.10%, 22 mg/100g, 0.14%, 56.13% respectively. For textural properties analysis, the textural profile of the strawberry bar such as hardness, factorability, viscosity, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, springiness, gumminess, chewiness, probe diameter, threshold, filtering range of strawberry bar was found 5.538 × 104 N/m, 0.000 N/m2, 1.687 × 104 N/m2, 0.6636, 2.908 × 103 J/m3, 0.8664, 3.675 × 104 N/m2, 3.184 × 104 N/m2, 20.000 mm, 5 N, 0.4 N respectively whereas the maximum level was 17.4 N at 29.628 seconds and the minimum level was -5.3 N at 30.166 seconds. The sensory evaluation of the strawberry bar was conducted based on nine-point hedonic scales. The sensory evaluation results indicated that the appearance of the strawberry bar was liked very much and the taste, texture, color, aroma, and overall acceptability of the strawberry bar were liked moderately by panelists. In microbiological analysis, the Total Viable Count (TVC) and Total Coliform Count (TCC) of the strawberry bar were found safe levels for up to third days. But on the sixth day, the TCC of the strawberry bar was not found and the TVC of the strawberry bar was found 17 × 104 cfu/g respectively which is higher than the permitted value (Gulf Standard: 105 cfu/g). From the microbial point of view, the newly formulated strawberry bar was safe to consume for up to 3 days but not for 6 days.

Thrombolytic Activity, Drug Likeness Property and ADME/T Analysis of Isolated Phytochemicals from Ginger (<i>Zingiber officinale</i>) Using <i>In Silico</i>Approaches

This experiment has been carried out to observe the potential thrombolytic activity of naturally occuring phytochemicals in Ginger (Zingiber officinale) and to analyze their drug likeness property and ADME/T profile. Thrombolytic activity of Ginger has already been confirmed in laboratory experiment and this study focuses on the molecular interactions among four phytocompounds (Isovanillin, Gingerol, Beta-sitosterol and 2,6-Dimethyl-2-octene-1,8-diol) found in Ginger and Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA). Present experiment is largely based on computer-aided drug design protocol where the strength of interaction is described as binding energy function. Isovanillin exhibited better docking score, and so this compound might have greater thrombolytic activity than others. Moreover, Isovanillin also suggested sound drug likeness property and ADME/T profile which predicts its safeness for consumption in human body. But Beta-sitosterol violated Lipinski’s rule of five and 2, 6-Dimethyl-2-octene-1,8-diol showed the lowest affinity of binding with tPA. However, further in vivo or in vitro study may be required to confirm the thrombolytic activity of Isovanillin.

VISCAL （VISSIM calibration） is an automated calibration tool for microscopic simulation parameters in VISSIM environment, based on three heuristic optimization algorithms：（a） genetic algorithm （GA）; Col simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation （SPSA）; （c） simulated annealing （SA）. It is developed with a goal to automate and ease the tedious process of calibration, offering greater flexibility to the users by providing control on every aspect of the calibration process. It includes multiple features for a generic application tool with the ability to test the significance of the appropriate decision parameter set for a particular network, to determine the most suitable objective function to reflect network characteristics, and to check the suitability of any of the three heuristic optimization al- gorithms for a particular network. VISCAL also offers four objective function choices into the system：（1） speed, （2） flow, （3） delay, and （4） multi-objective criteria. It is able to calibrate all the driving behavior parameters for any type （urban, rural） and extent of network （small or large network）. However, for this study, the operation of the tool is tested by a dataset obtained from a 3.26 km freeway of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Socio-Demographic and Economic Correlates of Climate Change Coping and Adaptation Strategies: A Study on the Farmer Communities in Barisal District, Bangladesh

The major objective of the study is to apply Conservation of Resource (COR) theory for examining the influence of farmers’ socio-demographic and economic correlates upon their adoption of agricultural, economic and emotion-focused coping and adaptation strategies of climate change. An interview schedule developed from the COR theory was utilized for data collection. Using multistage cluster sampling technique, a total of 384 farmers were chosen from Agailjhara Upazila of Barisal District and interviewed through a predesigned structured questionnaire. For triangulation of the quantitative findings, the study employed case study technique to collect qualitative data from the respondents. The findings of the study demonstrate that the most common emotion- focused, agricultural and economic coping and adaptation strategies of climate change were social support seeking (79.69%), planting trees (71.35%), homestead gardening (52.08%), hydroponic farming/floating garden (46.88%), duck rearing (30.73%), saving (20.83%), self-insurance (18.75%), etc. Bivariate results indicate that age, ownership of land, income and ownership of television or mobile phone were found significantly correlated with the three variables, including economic, agricultural and emotion-focused coping and adaptation strategies of COR theory. Again, access to microcredit has relationship with economic and agricultural adaptation strategies. Furthermore, education has significant relationship with agricultural adaptation strategies. The study suggests that continuous researches by policy makers, researchers, GOs and NGOs are very essential to exploring and enhancing farmers’ coping and adaptation strategies which may relegate the adverse impacts and vulnerabilities of climate change in the study area.

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most prevalent age-related dementia. AD can be caused by abnormal processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP) or by oxidative stress or may be due to the actions of kinases or the degeneration and loss of functions of neurons in the brain. Although various treatments have already gained success in the in vitro studies, however, till now not a single satisfactory drug has been proven that can cure this disease permanently till now. In this study, the best possible drug has been determined from a group of drug molecules using methods of molecular docking. Molecular docking is a computational approach which helps to determine the best molecule from a group of molecules which may bind with the highest affinity with the intended target by mimicking the original biological environment in a computer. The tested drug molecules in this experiment are the disease modifying agents, capable of inhibiting a particular protein involving in the AD pathway. Eight drug molecules (ligands)-memantine (-4.075 Kcal/mol), hymenialdisine (-8.079 Kcal/mol), tideglusib (-6.445 Kcal/mol), kenpaullone (-7.545 Kcal/mol), dihydrospiro[dibenzo[a,d][7]annulene-5,4’-imidazol] (-4.742 Kcal/mol), harmine (-7.57 Kcal/mol), harmol (-6.583 Kcal/mol) and 1-Methyl-4-Phenylpyridinium (-5.214 Kcal/mol), have been docked successfully against four targets (proteins)-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor (Nmd.R), glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), beta-secretase (β-secretase) and dual specificity tyrosine (Y)-phosphorylation-regulated kinase 1A (DYR-K1A) in this experiment which are intended targets in current AD treatment approaches. Investigation of docking results, druglikeness properties and ADME/T testing results suggest that the best findings of this experiment are memantine, hymenialdisine, dihydrospiro[dibenzo[a,d][7]annulene-5,4’-imi- dazol] and harmol, that could be the best possible drugs for the treatment of AD.

中国传统绘画(区别于中国油画“西洋画”)是经历千年传承的艺术形式,在历史上中国传统绘画对世界其它绘画艺术的发展有着积极的影响,主要是以毛笔、墨、国画颜料等画在特定载体上进行艺术创作的绘画形式。其主要表现形式重“神似”不重“形似”,重意境不重场景,而这种“神似”与“意境”更多的是把画中物象作为了一种载体。孟加拉绘画被普遍认为是为了复兴古代印度美术而形成的绘画形式,在其发展过程中借鉴了中国传统绘画艺术元素特别是在20世纪中期,两种绘画的艺术交流频繁,孟加拉绘画在这一时期走向繁荣,产生了一大批对复兴孟加拉绘画有所建树的艺术家,如阿巴宁德拉纳特·泰戈尔、南达拉尔·鲍斯、扎伊努尔·阿比丁等,在孟加拉绘画中可以看到无论是在线条表现、装饰色彩,以及艺术题材内容和艺术思想等方面,都与中国传统绘画有着密不可分的联系。论文通过查阅中孟(古印度)两国古代相关的文献记录以及对孟加拉绘画的对比分析中,发现中国传统绘画对复兴孟加拉(古印度)传统绘画艺术提供了重要借鉴意义,对并孟加拉绘画的发展起到了积极地促进作用。

Advantages of Computed Tomography (CT) in Endoscopic Septopasty

Background and objective: Nasal obstruction is the most frequent presentation to the otolaryngologist all over the world. Symptoms are multisystem involvement such as headache, epistaxis, ophthalmological, otological, upper and lower respiratory tract infections;and many more. Septoplasty is commonly performed for nasal septal deviation as a primary indication of nasal airway obstruction. Physical examination, anterior rhinoscopy and nasal endoscopy are considered the gold standard for detecting septal deviation. Computed tomography (CT) can also be used to evaluate the nasal septum, anatomical variants and unveils the associated sinonasal diseases. This study aimed to find out the advantages of CT in endoscopic septoplasty for all out benefits to the patients. Patients and methods: 168 patients of nasal septal deviation were selected from 2015 to 2018 in the Bangladesh Medical and Popular Medical College Specialized Hospital. Age ranged between 10 years to 70 years of age. CT scanning in both coronal, axial and sagittal sections had been done in all patients after proper history taking, physical examination, anterior rhinoscopy and nasal endoscopy. Endoscopic septoplasty alone and/or other ancillary procedures were performed in all 168 patients under general anesthesia. Results: Amongst 168 patients, male was 116 (69%) and female was 52 (31%) with a ratio 2.2:1. Maximum 58 (35%) reported in 31 to 40 years and 48 (29%) was found in 21 to 31 years of age. Hypertrophied inferior turbinate (HIT) 54 (32%) and 48 (29%) concha bullosa (CB) were associated with 168 septal deviation. Associated pathologies like maxillary antral cyst 68 (40%) and maxillary sinusitis 62 (37%) were documented. Conclusion: CT scanning unveils the abnormal anatomic variants and associated sinonasal pathologies along with nasal septal deviation. Rapid high-rise building construction of different occupancies is becoming popular in Dhaka due to its economic gain and functional flexibility. Fire prevention poses a significant difficulty to this type of construction due to its complexity and economic worth as well. Therefore, construction of high-rise building without following the proper fire safety measures, is a common practice at present in the city and it poses a greater threat to urban life considering its associated loss. Even though, most of the owners or authorities do not respect the construction code and the majority of them lack sufficient awareness and basic fire control knowledge and practice. More often, they are unable to comprehend the magnitude and severity of severe fire hazards, and recognize the causes and implementing effective mitigation measures are rare. As a result, the number of fire hazard in high-rise construction is increasing day by day. Hence, investigating the present condition of high-rise buildings (already built) in terms of Fire Protection System is imperative to prevent the upcoming fire hazard. An urban chunk of 33 plots along with Bir Uttam Aminul Haque Avenue, located in Banani, has been chosen for the study area considering its vulnerability to fire hazard. Among these buildings, STAR Tower and HBR Tower, these two high-rise buildings are assessed thoroughly using FRI (Fire Risk Index) Method. The method is semi-quantitative in nature with seventeen parameters associated with fire protection. This assessment represents a scenario in what extent fire codes are being followed in the selected area. It concludes that most of the buildings lack in providing protection against fire hazards for not following the code strictly. This research provides some recommendations which can be followed to improve the fire safety measures in this existing context.
