Sustainable development using wastes as resources is a new paradigm. Chicken manure contains rich amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus and has been used as crop fertilizer. However, little is known about whether nutrients of chicken manure are suitable and efficient to support the rapid growth of microalgae. In this study, we explore the possibility of using nutrient extracted from chicken manure to grow microalgae. We used an algal strain Scenedesmus sp. HTB1, which is an oleaginous species with high CO2 tolerance capability. The growth performance of HTB1 on various media amended with nutrient extracted from three different chicken manure sources was monitored and compared to the growth rate of HTB1 grown in the standard medium BG11. Meanwhile, the changes of total nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), both organic and inorganic, were measured during the growth period. Culture media enriched with the nutrient extracted from two chicken manure sources outperformed the standard culture medium BG11 in terms of algal biomass production. When cultivated with manure nutrient, HTB1 utilized inorganic N efficiently, but consumed very little organic N during the experimental growth period. However, HTB1 was able to utilize both organic and inorganic phosphorus. We demonstrate that nutrient extracted from chicken manure support rapid growth and high biomass yield in microalgae?Scenedesmus obliquus?HTB1. Therefore chicken manure holds great promise to be used as a cost-effective and efficient fertilizer for large-scale production of microalgae.

Colorectal lipomas are the second most common benign tumors of the colon. These masses are typically incidental findings with over 94% being asymptomatic. Symptoms-classically abdominal pain, bleeding per rectum and alterations in bowel habits-may arise when lipomas become larger than 2 cm in size. Colonic lipomas are most often noted incidentally by colonoscopy. They may also be identified by abdominal imaging such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. We report a case of a sixty-one years old male who presented to our emergency room with a 6.7 cm × 6.3 cm soft tissue mucosal mass protruding transanally. The patient was stable with a benign abdominal examination. The mass was initially thought to be a rectal prolapse; however, a limited digital rectal exam was able to identify this as distinct from the anal canal. Since the mass was irreducible, it was elected to be resected under anesthesia. At surgery, manipulation of the mass identified that the lesion was pedunculated with a long and thickened stalk. A laparoscopic linear cutting stapler was used to resect the mass at its stalk. Pathology showed a polypoid submucosal lipoma of the colon with overlying ulceration and necrosis. We report this case to highlight this rare but possible presentation of colonic lipomas; an incarcerated, trans-anal mass with features suggesting rectal prolapse. Trans-anal resection is simple and effective treatment.

Reproductive biology of L. mormyrus was studied using monthly samples totaling 224 fish obtained from AI-Haneah fishing site, eastern Libya Mediterranean Sea. Lengths of the examined fish ranged between 11.5 cm and 23.4 cm. Corresponding weights were 24.5 g and 160.8 g. The minimum values of the condition factors, KF and Kc, were 1.38 and 1.21 at the average fish length of 12.4 cm. These values increased with increases in length until they reached maximum values of 1.59 and 1.41 at the length of 22.1 cm. The high values of KF and Kc, Gonado-Somatic Index and oocyte diameter maintained during May, June, July, and August and the monthly changes in gonadal condition, indicated that summer was the breeding season of L. mormyrus. The oocyte diameter ranged between 379± 25.3 μ and 1,511 ± 143.3μ （n = 76） with an average of 895 ± 111.3 μ. The sex ratio was in favor of females during all months of the study. The overall sex ratio was 1 ： 1.52. Length at first maturity, Ls0, for L. mormyrus was found to be 14.15 cm for males and 14.45 for females. Overall average of absolute fecundity was 4,342±557 egg per fish （n = 45）. The overall average of relative fecundity was 234± 181 egg per cm. Absolute fecundity increased with increasing fish length.

目的:研究玫瑰茄(Hibiscus sabdariffa)花萼的乙醇提取物的抗痛觉敏感、抗炎及止泻作用。方法:使用95%乙醇提取玫瑰茄花萼干品用于测定其功效。用小鼠扭体实验检测其抗痛觉敏感作用,二甲苯致耳水肿模型小鼠检测其抗炎症作用,蓖麻油致腹泻模型小鼠检测其止泻作用。结果:在乙酸致小鼠扭体实验中,玫瑰茄花萼的乙醇提取物对小鼠扭体的抑制与空白对照组相比差异有统计学意义(P<0.01),对二甲苯致耳水肿模型小鼠的耳水肿的抑制与空白对照组相比差异有统计学意义(P<0.01),且显著减少了蓖麻油致腹泻小鼠的排便次数并增加了排便间隔时间(P<0.01)。结论:本研究的结果证实了玫瑰茄花萼的乙醇提取物具有显著的抗痛觉敏感、抗炎及止泻作用,验证了其在传统医学中的应用。

背景:前牙拥挤对一个人的微笑、外观以及自尊都会产生较大的不利影响。尽管对于轻中度的前牙拥挤其治疗难度不高,但若能探明诱发牙列拥挤的病因,对其进行早期阻断及时干预,能减少患者正畸治疗的难度,降低治疗后复发的程度,更好地维护患者的口腔健康。在引起牙列拥挤的因素中,下颌阻生第三磨牙(Impacted Mandibular Third Molar,IM3M)与牙列拥挤的关系是最具争议的。下颌第三磨牙是最常见的阻生牙,在世界各地的人群中均有较高的发病率,不同的种族发病率有显著的差异,其中新加坡华人中发病率最高,为68.6%。一般来说,其在下颌发病率高于上颌,女性发病率高于男性。现有文献中对下颌前牙拥挤和第三磨牙之间的相关性一直尚未完全明确,需要更多的样本和数据去证明其相互间的关系。一些研究采用了全景射线照相术(Panoramic Radiograph,OPG.)作为诊断和测量的工具来评估阻生第三磨牙与不同牙弓参数之间的关系。然而,全景射线照相术是一种二维模式,可能产生相邻解剖结构的重叠,导致潜在的数据错误。锥形束计算机断层扫描(Cone Beam Computed Tomography,CBCT)提供了一个快速、可靠和准确的牙齿大小和牙弓尺寸测量的方法。高分辨率的CBCT图像使临床医生能够评估牙槽骨的形状和大小,而不受常规X线摄影的局限性。评估在不同类型错畸形患者中下颌阻生第三磨牙与下颌牙弓在三个空间平面的位置之间的关系,可能有助于成年患者拔除阻生第三磨牙的决策过程。然而目前在文献中仍然缺乏利用CBCT评估阻生第三磨牙与牙弓参数(如前牙拥挤、前牙倾斜、牙弓长度和牙弓宽度)之间关系的研究。在不同骨性错畸形患者中,前牙骨皮质厚度存在着差异,而牙列拥挤对于前牙骨皮质厚度较薄的患者更容易产生骨开窗、骨开裂的风险,在治疗过程中,临床医生应谨慎地调整切牙的位置,以免出现不良后果,这在牙齿的大小和牙弓的可用空间骨量之间存在明显差异的情况下尤其关键,所以分析不同骨性错患者下颌前牙拥挤和前牙唇侧骨质厚度的联系将有助于医生对患者正畸风险早期评估,为临床医生提供重要信息。目的:1-评估骨性I类患者双侧IM3M颊舌向倾斜角度(Buccolingual Angulation,BL°)和近远中向倾斜角度(Mesiodistal Angulation,md.)与下颌牙弓参数(前牙拥挤度,前后向以及水平向牙弓参数)之间的三维关系。2-评估骨性Ⅰ类和骨性Ⅱ类中国女性的双侧IM3M倾斜角度与下颌前牙拥挤度关系及下颌前牙拥挤度与下颌前牙唇侧骨厚度的关系。第一部分:骨性Ⅰ类错患者下颌阻生第三磨牙的角度与下颌牙弓参数之间的关系材料和方法:本研究是一项回顾性的横断面比较研究,纳入骨性Ⅰ类(头影测量中ANB=2.7°±2.0)的患者。研究样本包括120名在CBCT上有双侧M3M的成人。研究样本被分为研究组和对照组。研究组纳入了 100名双侧IM3M的患者(43名男性和57名女性),而对照组纳入了 20名CBCT上显示双侧M3M正常萌出的患者(8名男性和12名女性)。利用CBCT在水平面、冠状面和矢状面上对M3M的BL°和md.进行测量。研究样本根据IM3M BL°分为四组:A组24°偏离牙槽骨中心(N=30),D组(N=20)(对照组,双侧M3M正常萌出)。研究样本根据IM3M md.进一步分为三组;第一组10°-45°,第二组>45°,第三组(对照组,双侧M3M正常萌出,0-10°)。在CBCT上测量每组的牙弓参数,如前牙倾斜度(Anterior Teeth Inclination,AI)、前牙拥挤度(Anterior Dental Crowding,ADC)、牙弓长度(Arch Length,AL)、尖牙间宽度(Inter Canine Width,Inter CW)、前磨牙间宽度(Inter premolar Width,Inter PMW)和磨牙间宽度(Inter Molar Width,Inter MW)然后将这些测量结果与对照组进行比较。最后,对结果进行统计分析,以确定IM3M的颊舌向和近远中向倾斜角度与前牙拥挤度,前后向,水平向牙弓参数之间的关系。结果:1-单因素方差分析显示,不同IM3M BL°分组在前牙倾斜度(P<0.001)、牙弓长度(P<0.01)和第二磨牙间宽度(P<0.001)上存在高度显著的差异性。组间比较结果显示,A、B、C和D组之间的前牙倾斜度有显著差异。与A组相比,C组的倾斜角度增加了7.2°(P<0.001)。此外,D组的倾斜角度比A组增加了5.1°(P<0.05)。同样地,C组与B组相比,前牙的倾斜度增加了3.8°(P<0.05)。然而,B组和D组之间、C组与

The Length-weight Relationship of Diplodus vulgaris ／（Teleostei, Sparidae） from Benghazi Coast （Libya）

Length-weight relationships （LWRs） were determined for fish species Diplodus vulgaris from the Benghazi coast along the eastern Mediterranean Sea coast of Libya. Samples were collected using trammel nets. The parameters a and b from the LWR formula W = aLb were estimated. The values of the exponent b of the length-weight relationships in all categories range between 2.295 in September to 3.208 in August. The total number of fish samples investigated were 290, from which 179 were males, 41 females and 70 fishes immature. The sex ratio male to female were 4.3：1. In January, August and Females the slope ＂b＂ close to equal 3, were the categories exhibited isometric relationship, in September, October and November were slope ＂b＂ not equal 3, which the categories exhibited negative allometric relationship. The mean observed length of male was 18.29 cm at mean observed weight 114.8 g, and mean observed length of female was 19.15 cm at mean observed weight 133.97 *** general equation for the length-weight relationship for both sex was： W = 0.03835L277, for male was： W = 0.036 L274, for female, W = 0.016 L302.
