Background: Posterior urethral injury usually occurs in male patients with pelvic fractures. Posterior urethral injuries are associated with considerable morbidity including urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction and urethral stricture. Objective: To compare the outcomes between early primary endoscopic realignment and delayed reconstruction in the management of male patients of posterior urethral injury. Methodology: This prospective study was conducted in the department of urology and department of casualty, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh from July 2015 to June 2017 among 50 male patients with posterior urethral injury. Fifty patients were randomly allocated into two groups;the group A consisted of 24 patients underwent early primary endoscopic realignment within 10 days after posterior urethral injury and the group B consisted of 26 patients underwent delayed reconstruction in form of anastomotic urethroplasty after 3 months. All patients were followed up at 3rd, 6th and 9th month after the procedure. Outcome variables were post-operative urethral stricture, urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Data were analyzed and compared by statistical tests. Results: The mean (±SD) age of the study patients was almost similar between the groups (28.8 ± 8.4 vs. 27.4 ± 7.2 years, p = 0.486). In group A, 83.33% patients developed postoperative urethral stricture, none of them developed urinary incontinence and 20.83% developed erectile dysfunction;On the other hand, in group B, these rates were 38.46%, 23.07% and 38.46% respectively. Postoperative urethral stricture formation was significantly higher in Group A (p = 0.0012) but urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction rates were significantly higher in Group B (p = 0.018 and p = 0.042 respectively). Effect of Distributional Assumption on GARCH Model into Shenzhen Stock Market： a Forecasting Evaluation

This paper examines the forecasting performance of different kinds of GARCH model （GRACH, EGARCH, TARCH and APARCH） under the Normal, Student-t and Generalized error distributional assumption. We compare the effect of different distributional assumption on the GARCH models. The data we analyze are the daily stocks indexes for Shenzhen Stock Exchange （SSE） in China from April 3^rd, 1991 to April 14^th, 2005. We find that improvements of the overall estimation are achieved when asymmetric GARCH models are used with student-t distribution and generalized error distribution. Moreover, it is found that TARCH and GARCH models give better forecasting performance than EGARCH and APARCH models. In forecasting performance, the model under normal distribution gives more accurate forecasting performance than non-normal densities and generalized error distributions clearly outperform the student-t densities in case of SSE.

Insights into Manipulation: Unveiling Tampered Images Using Modified ELA, Deep Learning, and Explainable AI

Digital image forgery (DIF) is a prevalent issue in the modern age, where malicious actors manipulate images for various purposes, including deception and misinformation. Detecting such forgeries is a critical task for maintaining the integrity of digital content. This thesis explores the use of Modified Error Level Analysis (ELA) in combination with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), as well as, Feedforward Neural Network (FNN) model to detect digital image forgeries. Additionally, incorporation of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to this research provided insights into the process of decision-making by the models. The study trains and tests the models on the CASIA2 dataset, emphasizing both authentic and forged images. The CNN model is trained and evaluated, and Explainable AI (SHapley Additive exPlanation— SHAP) is incorporated to explain the model’s predictions. Similarly, the FNN model is trained and evaluated, and XAI (SHAP) is incorporated to explain the model’s predictions. The results obtained from the analysis reveals that the proposed approach using CNN model is most effective in detecting image forgeries and provides valuable explanations for decision interpretability.

Design of a Multiband Patch Antenna for 5G Communication Systems

Currently, communication system requires multiband small antennas for 5G mobile applications. Driven this motivation, this paper proposes a multiband patch antenna for Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 5G applications. The proposed antenna can effectively operate at 2.4 GHz as Wi-Fi, 7.8 GHz as WiMAX and 33.5 GHz as 5G communication purposes. The proposed antenna arrays have given directional radiation patterns, very small voltage standing wave ratio, high gain (VSWR) and directivity for each aforementioned systems operating frequency. This antenna is made for multiband purpose which can be effective for not only Wi-Fi and WiMAX but also 5G applications.

Data Classification Using Combination of Five Machine Learning Techniques

Data clustering plays a vital role in object identification. In real life we mainly use the concept in biometric identification and object detection. In this paper we use Fuzzy Weighted Rules, Fuzzy Inference System (FIS), Fuzzy C-Mean clustering (FCM), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to distinguish three types of Iris data called Iris-Setosa, Iris-Versicolor and Iris-Virginica. Each class in the data table is identified by four-dimensional vector, where vectors are used as the input variable called: Sepal Length (SL), Sepal Width (SW), Petal Length (PL) and Petal Width (PW). The combination of five machine learning methods provides above 98% accuracy of class identification.

Determination of Array Gain of Single Hop to Achieve the Performance of a 2-Hop Wireless Link

In adaptive beamforming system adaptive algorithm of digital filter is applied to update the weighting vector of the antenna elements to get antenna gain along the desired direction and attenuation along the jammer. The objective of the paper is to evaluate the threshold gain of the adaptive beam former along the line of sight (LOS) between the transmitter and the receiver (including jammer suppression) to make the single hop link comparable with 2-hop link. The single hop and 2-hop communication systems are compared in context of symbol error rate (SER) under fading condition theoretically and verified by simulation. Finally we evaluate the numerical value of threshold gain of adaptive beamformer of two antenna elements under Rayleigh and Nakagami-m fading conditions.

The widespread presence of microplastics(MPs)in road dust has considerable concern regarding their potential risks to ecosystems and human *** the massive production of plastic,the erudition of MPs distribution patterns in various sizes of deposited road dust is still limited around the ***,the aim of this research is to provide an unambiguous picture of MPs distributional pattern,identification,classification,quantification,and features from road dust in various zones and types of roadways in Dhaka,*** study examined MPs in road dust samples with particle sizes ranging from 300 to 150 mm(Group-A),149-75 mm(Group-B),andunpaved road(325 items/5 g)>soil samples(294 items/5 g),roadside dust samples(284 items/5 g),and mid-road(283 items/5 g).By taking into account all sizes of road dust samples,the MPs were classified as fiber(70.26%),fragment(26.12%),beads(0.66%),films(1.32%),and foams(1.58%).It was found that adults inhaled MPs an average of 1612 items/day,while they ingested an average of 880 items/*** had an inhalation rate of 1232 items/day and an ingestion rate of 10267 items/day,which was 4e17 times greater than in other *** study identified 22 MPs polymer types,and SEM results show that MPs surfaces are being weathered into nanoplastics,creating a more hazardous environment.

Antibiotics are widespread in various environmental media,and may pose a potential threat to aquatic ecosystems and non-target aquatic ***(FLO)is one of the most commonly used antibiotics in aquaculture,and extensively used to substitute chloramphenicol with its strong sterilization and low adverse ef *** this study,flounder Paralichthys olivaceus,an important economic fish species in seawater was used as an experimental *** exposure concentrations of FLO(including environmentrelated concentrations)were set at 0,0.01,0.1,1,and 10 mg/*** fects of FLO exposure for 168 h on growth and development,motor behavior,antioxidant enzyme activity,malondialdehyde(md.)content,and thyroid hormone level of *** larvae were studied in pre-larvae(1 dpf)and post-larvae(20 dpf).The results show that the short-term FLO exposure could promote the larvae growth to some degrees,but inhibit them as the exposure time *** pre-larvae,FLO at 0.01 mg/L could stimulate the motor nerve system and increase the swimming ability,but inhibited it at 1 mg/*** the increasing dosage of FLO,the superoxide dismutase(SOD)and md. contents were elevated,reaching the maximum in the 1 mg/L FLO *** pre-larvae were more sensitive than the post-larvae to FLO in the environment,and the growth and immune resistance could be damaged with long ***-larvae were more tolerant to external pollutants,FLO at 1 mg/L could promote the motor behavior and reduce SOD and md. ***,FLO can be used as an antibiotic at a proper concentration but as a drug to prevent disease in a long-term way.

Performance Evaluation of Multiple Classifiers for Predicting Fake News

The rise of fake news on social media has had a detrimental effect on society. Numerous performance evaluations on classifiers that can detect fake news have previously been undertaken by researchers in this area. To assess their performance, we used 14 different classifiers in this study. Secondly, we looked at how soft voting and hard voting classifiers performed in a mixture of distinct individual classifiers. Finally, heuristics are used to create 9 models of stacking classifiers. The F1 score, prediction, recall, and accuracy have all been used to assess performance. Models 6 and 7 achieved the best accuracy of 96.13 while having a larger computational complexity. For benchmarking purposes, other individual classifiers are also tested.

Background: Atrial fibrillation commonly occurs following cardiac surgery, particularly after coronary artery bypass grafting. Magnesium, known for its stabilizing effect on cell membranes, has shown promise in preventing postoperative atrial fibrillation. This study aimed to assess the impact of intravenous magnesium infusion in preventing atrial fibrillation after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting, where maintaining stable cell membranes is crucial in averting this complication. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, from March 2020 to February 2022. Sixty-six patients who underwent off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting were enrolled and divided into two groups. Group A (n = 33) received intravenous magnesium sulfate (10 mmol/2.47gm) for three days after surgery, while Group B (n = 33) did not receive magnesium sulfate. Postoperative atrial fibrillation occurrence in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within three days after surgery was evaluated using convenient sampling. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS version 26.0, utilizing independent Student’s t-test for continuous data and Chi-square and Fisher’s exact test for categorical data. A p-value of ≤0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: No significant differences in age or gender were observed between the two groups. Group B exhibited significantly lower magnesium levels than Group A on the 0th, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd days post-surgery. Additionally, Group B experienced a higher incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation, longer ICU stays, and two mortalities. The study did not detect any adverse effects associated with magnesium infusion. Conclusion: It has been demonstrated that administering magnesium intravenously after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting can lower the chances of developing atrial fibrillation.
