Capsicum is a nutritious vegetable and its cultivation in farms is getting popular in Bangladesh. Although many efforts have lain to explore better yielding and nutritionally rich cultivars with suitable modern cultivation techniques but still have to find the desired outcome. Thus, it’s necessary to conduct further research to identify the high-yielding and nutritious capsicum cultivars in Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted from July 2021 to June 2022 at the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) research field with three cultivars of capsicum: B0 = California Wonder, B1 = BARI Misti Morich-1 and B2 = BARI Misti Morich-2 and three mulching: T0 = No mulching, T1 = Water hyacinth, T2 = Poly Mulching in randomized complete block design with three replications to identify better quality capsicum cultivar and suitable mulching material. Among cultivars the BARI Misti Morich-2 (B2) showed increased agronomic parameters like number of branches and effective branches per plant, leaves length and width, consequently yield and yield contributing traits were also enhanced like fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter and yield per plant (25.97%, 4.54%, 3.64% and 21.43%, respectively). Poly Mulching (T2) increased agronomic traits, yield traits and yield (0.61 kg) than BARI Misti Morich-1 (T1). The combined effect of B2T2 increased the number of branches per plant, effective branches per plant, leaves length and breadth by 40%, 90%, 15.57% and 26.22%, respectively, hence resulting in an increased yield of 20%. BARI Misti Morich-2 cultivar showed an increase in Fe, Zn and Vitamin-C content of 26.24% and 23.10%, 8.82% and 5.14%, and 6.03% and 5.74% than B0 and B1 cultivars, respectively. Analysis of Cotton Yarn Properties Spun on Aerodynamic Compact and Open-End Rotor Spinning

This article presents a comparative analysis of the properties of cotton yarn spun on aerodynamic compact spinning and open-end rotor spinning systems. Yarn samples with a linear density of 50 Tex, 37 Tex, 30 Tex, 25 Tex, and 20 Tex were spun both on the aerodynamic compact and rotor spinning systems using the same finisher drawn sliver of medium staple cotton which were produced by a specific mixing. The quality parameters such as mass variation, imperfection index, hairiness, and tensile behavior (strength in count strength product, elongation percentage) of the yarn samples were assessed and analyzed. The results revealed that aerodynamic compact spun yarn had a lower unevenness and mass variation, a higher imperfection in case of a finer count, less hairiness, higher tensile strength, and lower elongation% compared to the open-end rotor spun yarn samples. Finally, paired- samples t-test and regression analysis were carried out by using IBM SPSS 25 to check the significance of yarn quality parameters and correlation among them.

Coastal land transformation has been identified as a topic of research in many countries around the *** studies have been conducted to determine the causes and impacts of land ***,much less is understood about coupling change detection,factors,impacts,and adaptation strategies for coastal land transformation at a global *** review aims to present a systematic review of global coastal land transformation and its leading research *** 1,741 documents of Scopus and Web of Science,60 studies have been selected using the PRISMA-2020 *** revealed that existing literature included four leading focus areas regarding coastal land transformation:change detection,driving factors,impacts,and adaptation *** focus areas were further analyzed,and it was found that more than 80%of studies used Landsat imagery to detect land *** growth and urbanization were among the major driving factors *** review further identified that about 37%of studies included impact *** studies identified impacts on ecosystems,land surface temperature,migration,water quality,and occupational effects as significant ***,only four studies included adaptation *** review explored the scope of comprehensive research in coastal land transformation,addressing change detection,factor and impact analysis,and mitigation-adaptation *** research also proposes a conceptual framework for comprehensive coastal land transformation *** framework can provide potential decision-making guidance for future studies in coastal land transformation.

Intraspecific morphometric diversity of barramundi (Lates calcariferBloch, 1790) in the waters of southern Bangladesh

A total of 160 barramundi's (Lates calcarifer Bloch, 1790) sampled from four rivers (Tentulia, Balaswar, Bakkhali, and Andarmanik) along the southern coastal region of Bangladesh were investigated in terms of morphometric characters to reveal the intraspecific variation. Twenty-five morphometric measurements were extracted using the conventional method and subjected to multivariate analyses (i.e., principal component analysis (PCA), discriminate function analysis (DFA), cluster analysis (CA)) to distinguish individuals from different rivers. The result demonstrated that twenty-two out of 25 measurements was statistically significant (Univariate ANOVA) among all four populations. PCA analysis of morphometric characters resulted in two principal components, PC I and PCⅡ which accounted for 79.25% and 4.28% of the total data variance. PC I-PC Ⅱ plot explained 83.53% of total variance differentiated the population of L. calcarifer into two groups. Discriminate analysis correctly classified about 88.1% of the examined fish into the four areas. The UPGMA dendrogram showed that Bakkhali populations were the most morphologically different populations in comparison to other populations, while Andarmanik and Balaswar populations were very close to each other. The strong morphometric variation between Bakkhali and Tentulia, Andarmanik and Balaswar was observed in the present study, suggested the evidence of the separate stock population of barramundi in these locations, which might require distinct stock management strategies for resource sustainability in the waters of southern Bangladesh. However, if these findings are supported by further molecular markers and geometric morphometry, this would be a strong indication of different stocks of this population in the four rivers of southern Bangladesh.

Variation in the life-history traits of a Schilbid catfish,Clupisoma garua (Hamilton, 1822) in the coastal waters of southern Bangladesh

For the first time, the present study reports the life-history traits, comprising length-frequency distribution （LFD）, sex ratio （SR）, length-weight relationships （LWRs）, condition factors （CFs）, and relative growth （WR）, of Clupisoma garua in the coastal waters of Bangladesh. A total of 150 specimens ranging from 8.60 to 25.20 cm total length （TL） and 4.26 to 128.80 g body weight （BW） were collected using traditional fishing gear from August 2013 to July 2014. The overall sex ratio of males to females in the study did not differ significantly from the expected value of 1：1 （χ2=0.96, P〈0.05） but there were significant sex differences （P〈0.05） in the intercepts and slopes of graphs characterizing traits in C. garua. The calculated b values for the LWRs were 2.955, 2.893 and 2.927 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively, and there was negative allometric growth in all cases （b〈3）. The condition factors （KA, KF, KrR） and relative growth （WR） also did not differ significantly （P〈0.05） between the sexes. This study provides a useful tool for fishery specialists to evaluate the relative condition of fish and to initiate early management strategies and regulations for the sustainable management of the remaining stocks of this species in the entire coastal region of southern Bangladesh.

【Research Objectives】 Short term extreme temperature(ET) has been predicted to fluctuate in rice yield and quality under future climate. The objectives of this study were to explore the mechanism by which the extreme temperature impacts on rice yield and quality during the diverse growth stages through morpho-physiology, physiochemical and particular gene expressions observation.【Methods】From the verdict of last decade climate, extreme high temperature(EHT) and extreme low temperature(ELT) were exposed(from 7-0 days before heading(DBH);1-7 days after heading(DAH);8-14 DAH and 15-21 DAH) to Wanxiangyouhuazhan(V1) and Rongyouhuazhan(V2) cultivars in controlled climatic chamber.【Results】ET significantly decline yield, seed setting rate, filled grain number, chlorophyll fluorescence, chlorophyll index and photosynthetic components across both cultivars. Averaged across both the cultivars, grain yield was reduced by12%-17%. Conversely, EHT and ELT significantly reduced the amylose content, peak, trough and final viscosity, breakdown, peak time, brown rice(%), milled rice(%), head rice(%) and grain length-width ratio across cultivars and stages. Inversely, a significant enhanced response in case of protein content, gelatinization temperature, broken rice(%), chalkiness number(%), chalkiness area(%) and transparency with extreme temperature. Interestingly, 8-14 DAH stage showed the most prominent impact among almost all the parameters under EHT exposure and we focused to examine the gene expression at 4 th and 7 th days of treatment. EHT significantly increased the expression of Os AAP6 gene and decrease expression of Waxy gene, which results consistently with protein and amylose content in both rice cultivars, respectively.【Conclusion】Interestingly, EHT exhibited prominent strain than ELT at initial grain filling and will severely distress global food quality, nutrition and security. Prevalence of Bovine Tuberculosis in Sheep at Sadar and Parbatipur Upazila under Dinajpur District in Bangladesh

Tuberculosis is Zoonotic disease and infected animals continue to spread the disease to other animals and humans by excreting the germs in milk, meat, feces, and respiratory droplets, this study used bPPD (Bovine purified protein derivative) to observe TST (Tuberculin skin test) reactivity in the Sheep population in the Sadar and Parbatipur Upazilas of Dinajpur District. The research conducted from January to June of 2018. There is no history for sheep tuberculosis in the study area. Overall, 5 percent (7/140) of 140 sheep were positive, 15% (21/140) were doubtful, and 80% (112/140) were negative based on sex, age, breed, and body condition score, while lactation stage and reproduction status prevalence was 6.4 percent, 14.9 percent, and 78.7% positive, doubtful, and negative, respectively. Our findings suggest the presence of a skin test reaction response when employing the bPPD reagent, but this needs to be validated by pathological and serological techniques. Nevertheless, my preliminary investigation suggests that abattoirs must implement effective control systems and raise public awareness.

The freshwater prawn fishery plays an important role in the economy of *** fishery is mainly based on the culture of Macrobrachium *** culture fishery has been growing rapidly,thus,masking the dwindling capture fishery which is faced with serious environmental issues augmented by deleterious fishing *** the high prospects of the freshwater prawn aquaculture in Bangladesh,a lot of research is needed to ensure the sustainable development of the capture fishery which forms a key source of prawn aquaculture seed as well as provide a baseline for future *** prawn aquaculture in Bangladesh is based on traditional methods with continuous adaptations by the rural ***,numerous constraints to its full development are evident at all stages of its *** of quality brood stock,seed,feeds and poor technical knowledge at farmers level are but some of the impediments challenging the sustainability of this *** paper reviews the freshwater prawn fishery of Bangladesh over the last few decades and outlines approaches for the development of an ecosystem-based management of both the culture and capture sectors of this important fishery.

Proteintyrosine phosphatase 1B(PTP1B)inhibitionis consideredas a potentialtherapeuticfor the treatmentof cancer,type2 diabetes,*** presentwork,weinvestigatedtheanti-diabeticpotentialof8-hydroxydiospyrin(8-HDN)from *** against the PTP1B *** showed significant inhibitory activity of PTP1B with an IC 50 value of 18.37±0.02μM.A detailed molecular docking study was carried out to analyze the binding orientation,binding energy,and mechanism of inhibition.A comparative investigation of 8-HDN in the catalytic,as well as the allosteric site of PTP1B,was *** energy data showed that compound 8-HDN is more selective for the allosteric site and hence avoids the problems associated with catalytic site *** inhibition mechanism of 8-HDN can be further investigated as an active lead compound against PTP1B by using in vitro and in vivo models.
