Ecological fitness of brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), to rice nutrient management

Introduction:The brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(Stål)(Hemiptera:Delphacidae),is a notorious insect pest of *** supplementation can alter plant biochemical compositions which may indirectly affect on ecological fitness parameters of its insect ***,few findings are available on nutrient-induced ecological fitness of BPH and relationship of BPH fitness parameters with its host rice plant biochemical ***:We studied the main and interaction effects of nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),and potassium(K)inputs on BPH fitness,as measured by the following variables:nymph survival,nymphal duration,adult body weight,and its *** planthopper fitness parameters were regressed as function of rice plant(Oryza sativa)biochemical composition.A completely randomized design with four replications in a factorial scheme was used considering N,P,and K levels as ***:Nitrogen application to the host rice plants provided greater survival and enhanced body weight of *** nymphal duration was found to decrease with N subsidy that caused shorter generation time of *** compounds N and soluble protein(SP),total free sugar(TFS),and silicon(Si)content in rice plant tissue correlated strongly with all fitness traits of ***,SP,and TFS associated positively with BPH survival and body weight,while negatively with nymphal *** contrast,Si had negative correlation with BPH survival and body weight,but positive with nymphal *** supplementation to host plant contributed to increase BPH body *** of P with all parameters of BPH were weak except body weight which was highly significant and *** between N and P inputs demonstrated significant effect on BPH body *** of K had no significant effect on BPH survival and *** analysis did not detect significant relationship of BPH fitness parameters with plant tissue content of ***:The res

Morphological and Genetical Variability among Rhizoctonia solani Isolates Causing Sheath Blight Disease of Rice

Eighteen isolates of Rhizoctonia solani collected from infected rice plants in four different locations of Bangladesh were studied by using morphological characters and molecular markers. Anastomosis study with a reference isolate confirmed that all the isolates belonged to R. solani. Significant variation was observed in sclerotial size, shape and distribution. Un-weighted pair group method with arithmetic mean dendrogram constructed based on the Gower＇s general similarity coefficient showed that these isolates were grouped into four clusters at the 0.68 similarity coefficent according to morphological characters. Cluster I was a major cluster consisting of 13 isolates, while clusters Ⅱ to Ⅳ consisted of 1 or 2 isolates. Analyses by variable number of tandem repeat and amplified fragment length polymorphism markers showed that the isolates were grouped into five and three clusters at a similarity coefficient of 0.64 and 0.69, respectively. Although most of the variability was found between isolates from different regions as expected, significant variation was observed within the isolates collected from similar agro-ecological regions. Our results suggest the presence of different races of R. solani within the same local geographic regions.

Time Management of the Clinical Nurses at Public Hospital in Bangladesh

Nursing is a very intense and focused career, so picking the right time and its proper management can help to relieve personal stress, manage tasks properly and achieve patients and organizational outcome. Objective: This study aimed to explore perceived time management skill of the clinical nurses. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study design using simple random sampling. A total of 77 clinical nurses working in Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh were selected as study participants. The data were collected through structure questionnaire which consisted of demographic questionnaire and five dimensions of Time Management Skill Questionnaire (TMSQ). Results: The overall mean score of time management skill was 2.63 (SD = 0.28) reflecting a medium level of nurses perceived time management skill. The results also revealed that nurses age (r = 0.39, p = 0.000), monthly income (r = 0.294, p = 0.017) and service experience (r = 0.248, p = 0.030) were statistically significant correlated with nurses’ perceived time management skill. Conclusion: The outcome of this research would add to develop a strategy for nurse administrators to take an initiative for how nurses could improve the time management and utilize their limited time effectively. It specifies that proper time management can influence to provide quality care and achieving organizational goal.

Quality of Life of Chronic Heart Failure Patients

Background: Chronic Heart Failure is a complex clinical conditions affecting patients’ Quality of Life (QoL) globally. Objective: The aim of the study was to identify the factors influencing the quality of life of the chronic heart failure patients. Methods: A descriptive exploratory study was carried out by face-to-face interview with structured standard questionnaire. One hundred and forty two hospitalized chronic heart failure patients were conveniently recruited from National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease and Hospital, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Data were collected from January to February, 2019. Quality of life related factors were identified using Patients’ General Characteristics Questionnaire. QOL of chronic heart failure patients was measured by the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) and the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life Instrument-Short Version (WHOQOL-BREF). Descriptive statistic was used to describe the samples’ characteristics. Association between Socio-demographic characteristics and QOL of chronic heart failure patients was measured using t-test and one way of ANOVA. Relationship between continuous variables was measured by Pearson correlation test. Results: Findings reveal that mean of the total chronic heart failure related quality of life was 94.16 (SD = 3.20) out of maximum of 105. This high score indicates worsen chronic heart failure patients’ quality of life. The mean score of general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients was calculated as 41.05 (SD = 5.109) out of maximum of 130 which indicates low level of general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients. There is a significant positive correlation found between disease related quality of life and general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients. Failure detection is an essential task in industrial systems for preventing costly downtime and ensuring the seamlessoperation of the system. Current industrial processes are getting smarter with the emergence of Industry ***, various modernized industrial processes have been equipped with quite a few sensors to collectprocess-based data to find faults arising or prevailing in processes along with monitoring the status of *** diagnosis of rotating machines serves a main role in the engineering field and industrial production. Dueto the disadvantages of existing fault, diagnosis approaches, which greatly depend on professional experienceand human knowledge, intellectual fault diagnosis based on deep learning (DL) has attracted the researcher’sinterest. DL reaches the desired fault classification and automatic feature learning. Therefore, this article designs a Gradient Optimizer Algorithm with Hybrid Deep Learning-based Failure Detection and Classification (GOAHDLFDC)in the industrial environment. The presented GOAHDL-FDC technique initially applies continuous wavelettransform (CWT) for preprocessing the actual vibrational signals of the rotating machinery. Next, the residualnetwork (ResNet18) model was exploited for the extraction of features from the vibration signals which are thenfed into theHDLmodel for automated fault detection. Finally, theGOA-based hyperparameter tuning is performedtoadjust the parameter valuesof theHDLmodel *** experimental result analysis of the GOAHDL-FD Calgorithm takes place using a series of simulations and the experimentation outcomes highlight the better resultsof the GOAHDL-FDC technique under different aspects.

Natural antioxidants in the management of Parkinson's disease: Review of evidence from cell line and animal models

Parkinson’s disease(PD) is a chronic progressive neurodegenerative disease. It results from the death of dopaminergic neurons. The pathophysiological mechanisms in idiopathic PD include the production of α-synuclein and mitochondrial respiratory function-affecting complex I, caused by reactive oxygen ***, the use of natural antioxidants in PD may provide an alternative therapy that prevents oxidative stress and reduces disease progression. In this review, the effects of hydroxytyrosol, Ginkgo biloba,Withania somnifera, curcumin, green tea, and Hypericum perforatum in PD animal and cell line models are compared and discussed. The reviewed antioxidants show evidence of protecting neural cells from oxidative stress in animal and cell models of PD. However, the clinical efficacy of these phytochemicals needs to be optimised and further investigated.
