Neuroinflammation contributes to the neurodegenerative processes in Alzheimer＇s disease（AD）;therefore,characterization of novel drug candidates aimed at combatting inflammation in the central nervous system is one of the potential avenues for the development of effective AD treatment and prevention ***-neuronal microglial cells orchestrate neuroinflammatory reactions,and their adverse activation has been linked to AD *** jasmonate（MJ） has anti-cancer properties and has also been shown to reduce peripheral inflammation in pre-clinical ***,anti-neuroinflammatory activity of MJ was demonstrated in mice,but the exact cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for this beneficial effect are *** hypothesized that MJ can regulate select microglial functions,and used two different in vitro models of microglia to test this *** inhibited the production of damaging reactive oxygen species by differentiated human HL-60 promyelocytic leukemia cells without reducing their *** also selectively upregulated phagocytic activity of murine BV-2 microglia,but had no effect on nitric oxide secretion by these *** microglial phagocytosis can be beneficial for clearance of amyloid β aggregates in AD,the observed upregulation of phagocytic activity by MJ,combined with its inhibitory effect on reactive oxygen species production,supports continued studies of MJ as a candidate drug for managing adverse neuroinflammation in AD.

Aqueous solutions of azo dyes undergo degradation to form harmless intermediates and colorless products following irradiation by visible light in the presence of titanium dioxide thin films. The dyes that were studied in this work are： Chicago Sky Blue 6B and Benzopurpurin 4B. Results obtained indicated that complete mineralization of the dyes took place under the experimental conditions. There was an increase in conductivity after the complete mineralization experiments possibly indicating the formation of ions such as NO3^- and SO4^2-. Chemical oxygen demand（COD） measurements show a decrease in organic matter for both dyes following complete degradation. The effect of how changing experimental conditions such as pH, temperature and starting concentrations of dyes affected the rate of dye degradation was measured. There was an increase in the rate of disappearance of the dye color at lower pH. High concentrations of dye solutions reauired Iona dearadation time.

In one of the most consequential biochemical reactions on earth,a pigment-protein complex known as photosystem Ⅱ(PSⅡ)in photosynthesis extracts electrons,protons,and oxygen from water using energy from ***Ⅱ thereby sustains life on earth by harnessing the potential of two nearly inexhaustible raw materials:sunlight and *** plant PSllis a membrane-embedded *** monomer consists of around 28 unique protein subunits,157 chlorophylls,44 carotenoids,2 pheophytins,a heme,a non-heme iron,two quinones,and a Mn_(4)CaO_(5) cluster(Su et al.,2017;Cao et al.,2018).Within each monomeric complex,20 protein subunits constitute a core(Figure 1A).

The physics of electrodeless electric thrusters that use directed plasma to propel spacecraft without employing electrodes subject to plasma erosion is reviewed. Electrodeless plasma thrusters are potentially more durable than presently deployed thrusters that use electrodes such as gridded ion,Hall thrusters, arcjets and resistojets. Like other plasma thrusters, electrodeless thrusters have the advantage of reduced fuel mass compared to chemical thrusters that produce the same thrust. The status of electrodeless plasma thrusters that could be used in communications satellites and in spacecraft for interplanetary missions is examined. Electrodeless thrusters under development or planned for deployment include devices that use a rotating magnetic field; devices that use a rotating electric field; pulsed inductive devices that exploit the Lorentz force on an induced current loop in a plasma; devices that use radiofrequency fields to heat plasmas and have magnetic nozzles to accelerate the hot plasma and other devices that exploit the Lorentz force. Using metrics of specific impulse and thrust efficiency, we find that the most promising designs are those that use Lorentz forces directly to expel plasma and those that use magnetic nozzles to accelerate plasma.

The Impact of Meetings on the Network Governance and Mobility of UN Policy Programs on Environment and Education

Purpose:This paper adds to the understandings of how face-to-face meetings contribute to the network governance and global mobility of United Nations(UN)policy programs on environmental and sustainability education(ESE).Design/Approach/Methods:Data from interviews with 13 international ESE policy leaders were transcribed,coded,and analyzed for key themes related to the research ***:The findings indicate that meetings provide an arena for collaboration and influence on UN ESE policy programs,as well as facilitating the impact of the policy programs on UN member country *** addition,attending meetings enables the production of network relations that bind ESE policy communities together across distant *** are also a venue for the networking labor involved in forging new relationships and facilitating the social learning that supports global policy ***/Value:This pilot study enriches understanding of face-to-face meetings as a key vector of policy mobility and a significant factor in the overall network governance of UN organizations and their policy *** hope the study contributes to the fields of critical policy studies and ESE,as well as to informing policy actors on how important their participation in meetings can be for the network governance and mobility of UN policy programs.

This work describes the development,optimisation and validation of an analytical method for the rapid determination of 17 priority pharmaceutical compounds and endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs).Rather than studying compounds from the same therapeutic class,the analyses aimed to determine target compounds with the highest risk potential(with particular regard to Scotland),providing a tool for further monitoring in different water *** was based on a systematic environmental risk assessment approach,using consumption data;wastewater treatment removal efficiency;environmental occurrence;toxicological effects;and pre-existing regulatory *** process highlighted 17 compounds across various therapeutic classes,which were then quantified,at environmentally relevant concentrations,by a single analytical *** determination was achieved using a single-step solid phase extraction(SPE)procedure followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS).The fully optimised method performed well for the majority of target compounds,with recoveries>71%for 15 of 17 *** limits of quantification for most target analytes(14 of 17)ranged from 0.07 ng/L to 1.88 ng/L in river *** utility of this method was then demonstrated using real water samples associated with a rural hospital/*** compounds were targeted and detected,with the highest levels found for the analgesic,paracetamol(at up to 105,910 ng/L in the hospital discharge).This method offers a robust tool to monitor high priority pharmaceutical and EDC levels in various aqueous sample matrices.

The delivery of excessive fine sediment (particles<2 mm in diameter) to rivers can cause serious deleterious effects to aquatic ecosystems and is widely acknowledged to be one of the leading contributors to the degradation of rivers *** advances in using biological methods as a proxy,physical measures remain an important method through which fine sediment can be *** aim of this study was to provide further insights into the environmental variables controlling sediment accumulation in lowland gravel bed *** sampled 21 sites,during spring and autumn,selected to cover a gradient of excess fine *** sediment was sampled using a range of methods including visual assessments,the disturbance method,and suspended sediment concentrations.A range of abiotic predictors was measured during sampling,and hydrological and antecedent flow indices were derived from local flow gauging station *** results show reach scale visual estimates of fine sediment to be significantly and highly correlated with fully quantitative estimates of total surface *** regression analysis showed that flow variables (regime,antecedent,and local flow characteristics)were strong predictors of deposited sediment metrics but poor predictors of suspended *** content was shown to be relatively independent of total sediment quantity and is likely driven by other factors which influence the supply and breakdown of organic matter.

Background:Patients with genetic syndromes who undergo surgery to correct congenital heart defects can be at risk for increased morbidity or *** outcomes and postoperative courses following congenital heart surgery in patients with Kabuki-Syndrome(KS)have not been well ***:The purpose of this study was to describe the postoperative courses and associated outcomes in the largest set of KS patients undergoing congenital heart surgery to ***:Patients with a confirmed molecular diagnosis of KS and a diagnosis of a CHD admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital between January 1,2000 and January 1,2020 were included(n=20).Demographics and medical histories were collected from the hospitals’electronic health ***:Of 20 patients identified with KS and a CHD,15 required surgical correction of their congenital cardiac *** age and weight at the time of surgery was 2 months and 4.1 kg,*** duration of hospital stay was 49 days for all surgeries and 151 days for the Norwood *** infections and pleural effusions were detected and treated in 45.8%and 50%of patients,*** was no in-hospital mortality for any *** follow up time was 5.6 years;survival at 6 years was 94%.Conclusions:Although KS patients seem to be at increased risk for a more complicated,prolonged postoperative course than that of patients without a genetic syndrome,patients with a diagnosis of a CHD and KS do not appear to be at increased risk of mortality following congenital heart surgery.

In this study,the environmental impacts of six commercial chloride-based de-icer products,including Rock Salt and Salt Brine,were *** nutrients,oxygen demand,heavy metal concentration,corrosion and toxicity of all six de-icers were *** an assumed 500-fold dilution,the test results were compared to the public water-quality *** results show that the selected chemical de-icers have little chance of severely damaging the environment and ecosystem under a normal dilution ***,attention needs to be paid to small water bodies and sensitive receiving water.
