Switchgrass Biochar Effects on Plant Biom.ss and m.crobial Dynam.cs in Two Soils from.Different Regions

Biochar am.ndm.nts to soils m.y alter soil function and fertility in various ways, including through induced changes in the m.crobial com.unity. We assessed m.crobial activity and com.unity com.osition of two distinct clayey soil types, an Aridisol from.Colorado （CO） in the U.S. Central Great Plains, and an Alfisol from.Virginia （VA） in the southeastern USA following the application of switchgrass （Panicum.virgatum. biochar. The switchgrass biochar was applied at four levels, 0%,0, 2.5%, 5%, and 10%, approxim.tely equivalent to biochar additions of 0, 25, 50, and 100 t ha^-1, respectively, to the soils grown with wheat （Triticum.aestivum. in an eight-week growth cham.er experim.nt. We m.asured wheat shoot biom.ss and nitrogen （N） content and soil nutrient availability and N m.neralization rates, and characterized the m.crobial fatty acid m.thyl ester （FAm.） profiles of the soils. Net N m.neralization rates decreased in both soils in proportion to an increase in biochar levels, but the effect was m.re m.rked in the VA soil, where net N m.neralization decreased from.-2.1 to -38.4 m. kg^-1. The 10% biochar addition increased soil pH, electrical conductivity, m.hlich- and bicarbonate-extractable phosphorus （P）, and extractable potassium.（K） in both soil types. The wheat shoot biom.ss decreased from.17.7 to 9.1 g with increm.ntal additions of biochar in the CO soil, but no difference was noted in plants grown in the VA soil. The FAm. recovery assay indicated that the switchgrass biochar addition could introduce artifacts in analysis, so the results needed to be interpreted with caution. Non-corrected total FAm. concentrations indicated a decline by 457o and 34% with 10% biochar addition in the CO and VA soils, respectively, though these differences becam. nonsignificant when the extraction efficiency correction factor was applied. Two reef m.rgin species of tropical sea urchins,Echinom.tra sp.C(Ec) and Echinom.tra oblonga(Eo),occur sym.atrically on Okinawa intertidal reefs in southern *** between these species was exam.ned through a series of cross-fertilization *** lim.ted sperm.concentrations,where conspecific crosses reached near 100% fertilization,both heterospecific crosses showed high fertilization rates(81%-85%).The com.atibility of the gam.tes dem.nstrated that if gam.te recognition m.lecules are involved in fertilization of these species,they are not strongly *** found that conspecific crosses reached peak fertilization levels m.ch faster than did heterospecific crosses,indicating the presence of a prezygotic barrier to hybridization in the *** survival,m.tam.rphosis,and juvenile and adult survival of hybrid groups were nearly identical to those of their parent *** from.crosses in both directions developed norm.lly through larval stages to sexually m.ture adults,indicating that neither gam.tic incom.atibility nor hybrid inviability appeared to m.intain reproductive isolation between these *** adults,Ec×Ec crosses gave the highest live weight,followed by Eo(ova)×Ec(sperm.,Ec(ova)×Eo(sperm.,and Eo×*** growth perform.nce m.asures(viz.,test size,Aristotle's lantern length,and gonad index) of hybrid groups and their parental siblings showed the sam. *** phenotypic color patterns of the hybrids were closer to the m.ternal coloration,whereas spine length,tube-foot and gonad spicule characteristics,pedicellaria valve length,and gam.te sizes showed interm.diate *** F 1 hybrids were com.letely fertile and displayed high fertilization success in F 1 backcrosses,elim.nating the likelihood that hybrid sterility is a postzygotic m.chanism.of reproductive ***,intensive surveys failed to find hybrid individuals in the field,suggesting the lack or rarity of natural *** stron

OBJECTIVE： The m.in objectives of this study were to qualitatively evaluate the profile of phytochem.cal constituents present in m.thanolic extract of m.crocos paniculata bark（Bm.） and fruit（Fm.）, as well as to evaluate their anti-inflam.atory, analgesic and antipyretic ***： Phytochem.cal constituents of Bm. and Fm. were determ.ned by different qualitative tests such as m.lisch’s test, Fehling’s test, alkaloid test, frothing test, Fe Cl3 test, alkali test, Salkowski’s test and Baljet test. The anti-inflam.atory, analgesic and antipyretic activities of the extracts were evaluated through proteinase-inhibitory assay, xylene-induced ear edem. test, cotton pellet-induced granulom. form.tion in m.ce, form.lin test, acetic acid-induced writhing test, tail im.ersion test and Brewer’s yeastinduced pyrexia in ***： m. paniculata extracts revealed the presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids and triterpenoids. All of the extracts showed significant（P〈0.05, vs aspirin group） proteinaseinhibitory activity, whereas the highest effect elicited by plant extracts was exhibited by the Bm.（75.94% proteinase inhibition activity） with a half-m.xim.l inhibitory concentration（IC50） of 61.31 μg/m.L. Each extract at the doses of 200 and 400 m./kg body weight showed significant（P〈0.05, vs control） percentage inhibition of ear edem. and granulom. form.tion. These extracts significantly（P〈0.05, vs control） reduced the paw licking and abdom.nal writhing of m.ce. In addition, Bm. 400 m./kg, and Fm. at 200 and 400 m./kg showed significant（P〈0.05, vs control） analgesic activities at 60 m.n in the tail im.ersion test. Again, the significant（P〈0.05, vs control） post-treatm.nt antipyretic activities were found by Bm. 200 and 400 m./kg and Fm. 400 m./kg ***： Study results indicate that m. paniculata m.y provide a source of plant com.ounds with anti-inflam.atory, analgesic and antipyretic activities.

The present research paper presents the synthesis, characterization, biological and com.utational studies of 4-(benzylideneam.no) benzoic acid derivatives(3a~3g). Derivatives 3a~3c displayed best antidiabetic potential with a glucose-lowering effect com.ared to the reference drug Glibenclam.de. Biochem.cal param.ters including plasm. glucose, serum.triglycerides, cholesterol, alanine am.no transferase and aspartate am.no transferase levels showed significant alterations in concentrations relative to the control. Sim.larly, the derivatives 3a, 3d and 3e displayed potent in vitro antibacterial potential. m.lecular docking sim.lations delineated that the ligands and com.lexes were stabilized at the active site by electrostatic and hydrophobic forces, consistent with the corresponding experim.ntal results. In silico study of the binding pattern predicted that the synthesized ligands, 3d and 3a could serve as a potential surrogate for hit-to-lead generation and the design of novel antibacterial drugs.

This The m.neral potential in Egypt is quite high. Alm.st all sorts of industrial m.nerals such as m.tallic and non-m.tallic com.odities exist in com.ercial am.unts. However, Egypt im.orts m.ny of the m.neral com.odities needed for the local m.neral industries. The m.in reason for this is that the investors, either the governm.ntal or the private sectors, refrain from.investing into the m.neral industry for prospecting, evaluation, and developing the m.ning and m.neral processing technologies. This is because the return on investm.nt in the m.ning industry is generally low and the pay back period is relatively long com.ared with easy-to-get m.ney projects. Another reason is the disarray of the m.ning laws and regulations and lack of adm.nistrative capability to deal with dom.stic and international investors and solve the related problem.. Also, lack of skilled personnel in the field of m.ning and m.neral processing is an additional factor for the set back of the m.ning industry in Egypt. This is why the m.ning technology in Egypt is not very far from.being prim.tive and extrem.ly sim.le, with the exception of the underground m.ning of coal, North of Sinai, and Abu-Tartur phosphate m.ning, where fully autom.ted long wall operations are designed. Also, the recent gold and tin-tantalum.niobium.projects are being designed on m.dern surface m.ning and m.neral processing technologies. The present review presents an overview of the m.st im.ortant m.tallic m.neral com.odities in Egypt, their geological background, reserves and production rates. A brief m.ntion of the existing technologies for their exploitation is also highlighted.

In line with recent attention on porous m.tals having low and m.dium.porosities in the range of 20-50%, this paper studies the effect of porosity on the m.chanical properties of sintered copper com.acts. Experim.nts were designed to investigate the effect of porosity, applied stress and sliding velocity on the wear rate of copper com.acts, leading to the finding that the effects of both porosity and applied stress of the wear test on the wear rate are approxim.tely sim.lar and higher than that of sliding velocity. The investigation concerning the effect of porosity on com.ressive strength indicated that the stress-strain curve of high-porosity com.act exhibited identifiable ultim.te strength points, though low-porosity com.act showed distinct stages of elastic plastic behavior.

Aim. To assess lam.nin levels in the sem.nal plasm. of infertile and fertile m.n, and to analyze the correlation of lam.nin levels with sperm.count, age, sperm.m.tility and sem.n volum.. m.thods： One hundred and twenty-five recruited m.n were equally divided into five groups according to their sperm.concentration and clinical exam.nation： fertile norm.zoosperm.a, oligoasthenozoosperm.a, non-obstructive azoosperm.a （NOA）, obstructive azoosperm.a （OA） and congenital bilateral absent vas deferens （CBAVD）. The patients＇ m.dical history was investigated and patients underwent clinical exam.nation, conventional sem.n analysis and estim.tion of sem.nal plasm. lam.nin by radioim.unoassay. Results： Sem.nal plasm. lam.nin levels of successive groups were： 2.82 ± 0.62, 2.49 ± 0.44, 1.77 ± 0.56, 1.72 ± 0.76, 1.35 ± 0.63 U/m., respectively. The fertile norm.zoosperm.c group showed the highest concentration com.ared to all infertile groups with significant differences com.ared to azoosperm.c groups （P 〈 0.05）. Testicular contribution was estim.ted to be approxim.tely one-third of the sem.nal lam.nin. Sem.nal plasm. lam.nin dem.nstrated significant correlation with sperm.concentration （r = 0.460, P 〈 0.001） and nonsignificant correlation with age （r = 0.021, P = 0.940）, sperm.m.tility percentage （r = 0.142, P = 0.615） and sem.n volum. （r = 0.035, P = 0.087）. Conelusion： Sem.nal plasm. lam.nin is derived m.stly from.prostatic and testicular portions and m.nim.lly from.the sem.nal vesicle and vas deferens. Estim.ting sem.nal lam.nin alone is not conclusive in diagnosing different cases of m.le infertility.
