Ob.ECTIVE: Primary b.ne and soft-tissue tumors occur rarely in pregnancy. T he ob.ective of this study was to describ. the outcome of a large cohort of pregna nt patients with these rare tumors. METHODS: Pregnant women diagnosed with b.ne or soft-tissue tumors during pregnancy or within 3 months after delivery were i dentified retrospectively for the years 1983-2003 in the University Health Netw ork datab.se, University of Toronto. Relevant maternal and neonatal data were co llected on a standardized data form. RESULTS: In more than 60,000 deliveries dur ing the study period, 17 patients were identified. Gestational age at diagnosis ranged from 11 weeks to 2 months postpartum. Eight cases involved the lower extr emity and 6 involved the upper extremity. Osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and gian t-cell tumors were the most common histological types. Metastases occurred in 7 cases. Nine cases were treated surgically during the course of pregnancy. The m ajority of patients were delivered at term. Chemotherapy was deferred until the postpartum period. One patient elected for early termination of pregnancy. Three patients were delivered b.fore 37 weeks of gestation to proceed with therapy. O ne neonate delivered at 34 weeks developed respiratory distress syndrome and req uired intub.tion. Three patients died, all as the result of metastatic disease. There were no perinatal or infant deaths. CONCLUSION: Most cases of soft-tissue and b.ne tumors during pregnancy can b. successfully managed with surgery durin g gestation. Therapies with fetal toxicity were more likely to b. deferred to th e postpartum period.

We report experimental realization of a quantum version of maxwell＇s demon using solid state spins where the information acquiring and feedb.ck operations b. the demon are achieved through conditional quantum gates.A unique feature of this implementation is that the demon can start in a quantum superposition state or in an entangled state with an ancilla ob.erver. Through quantum state tomography, we measure the entropy in the system, demon, and the ancilla, showing the influence of coherence and entanglement on the result. A quantum implementation of maxwell＇s demon adds more controllab.lity to this paradoxical thermal machine and may find applications in quantum thermodynamics involving microscopic systems.

给出了一种时间域瞬变电磁法视电阻率的数值计算方法,利用该方法可以容易地求出中心方式的全程视电阻率.根据中心方式磁场垂直分量时间变化率(?)b.(?)T的核函数Y’(Z)的表现特征,以参数Z把整个瞬变过程分为早期阶段(Z>1.6)、早期到晚期的转折点(Z=1.6)和晚期阶段(Zb.核函数y(Z)是参数Z的单值函数,但同样存在一个从早期到晚期的转折点Z=1.6,转换点两边仍然可以得到一条早期曲线和一条晚期曲线.在数值计算中,当迭代步长△Z<0.005Z时,视电阻率的相对误差小于0.5%.理论模型和实际数据计算表明,与早期和晚期近似值比较,全程视电阻率具有更高的精度和分辨率.

Enhanced dielectric and optical properties of nanoscale b.rium hexaferrites for optoelectronics and high frequency application

M-type b.rium hexaferrites with chemical composition b.1-xDyxFe12-yCryO19(x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, and y =0.0, 0.4, 0.5) were synthesized via sol–gel auto-comb.stion method. The samples were pre-sintered at 400℃ for 3 h and sintered at 950℃ for 5 h. The changes in the structural, dielectric, and optical properties were studied after the sub.titution of Dy3+and Cr3+ions. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis confirms the formation of single phase hexaferrites with the ab.ence of secondary phase. FTIR analysis gives an idea of the formation of hexaferrites with the appearance of two peaks at 438 cm-1and 589 cm-1. The field emission scanning electron micrographs(FESEM) show a comb.nation of crystallites with large shapes close to hexagonal platelet-like shape and others with rice or rod-like shapes, whereas EDX and elemental analysis confirm the stoichiometry of prepared samples. The calculated b.nd gap from UV-vis NIR spectroscopy spectra was found to decreases with increase in Dy3+–Cr3+sub.titution. The dielectric properties were explained on the b.sis of maxwell–Wagner model. Enhancement of dielectric constant at higher frequencies was ob.erved in all the samples. Low dielectric loss is also ob.erved in all the samples and Cole–Cole plot shows that grain b.undary resistance(Rgb. contrib.te most to the dielectric properties. The prepared samples exhib.t properties that could b. useful for optoelectronics and high frequency application.

Rationale and Ob.ectives: Cystic lung disease may b. accurately diagnosed b. imaging interpretation of specialist radiologists, without other information. We hypothesized that with minimal training non-specialists could perform similarly to specialist physicians in the diagnosis of cystic lung disease. Methods: 72 cystic lung disease cases and 25 cystic lung disease mimics were ob.ained from three sources: 1) a prospective acquired diffuse lung disease registry, 2) a retrospective search of medical records and 3) teaching files. Cases were anonymized, randomized and interpreted b. 7 diffuse lung disease specialists and 15 non-specialist radiologists and pulmonologists. Clinical information other than age and sex was not provided. Prior to interpretation, non-specialists viewed a short PDF training document explaining cystic lung disease interpretation. Results: Correct first choice diagnosis of 85%-88% may b. achieved b. high-performing specialist readers and 71%-80% b. non-specialists and lower-performing specialists, with mean accuracies in the diagnosis of LAM (91%, p Conclusion: With specific b.t limited training, non-specialist physicians can diagnose cystic lung diseases from CT appearance alone with similar accuracy to specialists, correctly identifying approximately 75% of cases.
