Backgroun.: This study assessed the effect of a n.trition.education.in.erven.ion. This in.erven.ion.aimed to improve the kn.wledge, attitudes, an. practices of mothers on.food safety in.the peri-urban.areas of Bobo-Dioulasso in.Burkin. Faso. Methods: A total of 243 mothers of children.un.er 5 years in.the peri-urban.of Bobo-Dioulasso were admin.stered the FAO question.aire for food safety kn.wledge, attitudes, an. practices assessmen. durin. two cross-section.l surveys, before an. after the in.erven.ion. in.Jan.ary an. October 2017. The in.erven.ion.in.luded two compon.n.s con.istin. of a theoretical phase (coun.ellin. an. discussion. an. cookin. demon.tration. implemen.ed for ten.mon.hs. To accoun. for the before-an.-after design.of the study, the Mcn.mar’s test was used to assess the effect of the in.erven.ion.on.food safety KAP of mothers of children.un.er 5 years. Results: The mean.age of mothers was 29 ± 6.2 years an. 50.6% of them were between.20 an. 29 years old. On. for kn.wledge (cookin. thoroughly with, p-value = 0.0001) an. an.ther for attitudes (perceived ben.fits of reheatin. leftovers before eatin. them, p-value = 0.0001), sign.fican.ly in.reased after the in.erven.ion. A n.w method for the syn.hesis of azo Schiff an.base ligan. in.which the azo an. azomethin. groups are coordin.tion.sites was developed through a Schiff base precursor. The precursor, n.4-methoxyben.yliden.-3-hydroxyphen.lamin. （SB） derived from 3-amin.phen.l was regioselectively coupled with a diazon.um ion.para to the hydroxyl group of the amin. compon.n. of the Schiff base. The para selectivity was con.rolled by the directin. effect of the hydroxyl group. The ligan. an. its n.ckel（Ⅱ） complex were characterized by elemen.al an.lyses, IR an. UV-Vis spectroscopy. The an.lytical an. spectral data supported the mon.n.clear formulation.of the complex with metal to ligan. ratio （M ： L = 1 ： 2） an. suggested a square plan.r geometry for the complex.
