Given that it was a once-in-a-century emergency event,the confinement measures related to the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused diverse disruptions and changes in life and work *** changes significantly affected water consumption both during and after the pandemic,with direct and indirect consequences on ***,there has been a lack of holistic evaluation of these ***,we propose a novel framework to study the impacts of this unique global emergency event by embedding an environmentally extended supply-constrained global multi-regional input-output model(MRIO)into the drivers-pressure-state-impact-response(DPSIR)*** framework allowed us to develop scenarios related to COVID-19 confinement measures to quantify country-sector-specific changes in freshwater consumption and the associated changes in biodiversity for the period of *** results suggest progressively diminishing impacts due to the implementation of COVID-19 vaccines and the socio-economic system’s self-adjustment to the new *** 2020,the confinement measures were estimated to decrease global water consumption by about 5.7% on average across all scenarios when compared with the baseline level with no confinement ***,such a decrease is estimated to lead to a reduction of around 5% in the related pressure on *** the interdependencies and interactions across global supply chains,even those countries and sectors that were not directly affected by the COVID-19 shocks experienced significant impacts:Our results indicate that the supply chain propagations contributed to 79% of the total estimated decrease in water consumption and 84%of the reduction in biodiversity loss on *** study demonstrates that the MRIO-enhanced DSPIR framework can help quantify resource pressures and the resultant environmental impacts across supply chains when facing a global emergency ***,we recommend the development o

Physical modeling represents probably the oldest design tool in hydraulic engineering together with analytical approaches. In free surface flows, the similitude based upon a Froude similarity allows for a correct representation of the dominant forces, namely gravity and inertia. As a result fluid flow properties such as the capillary forces and the viscous forces might be incorrectly reproduced, affecting the air entrainment and transport capacity of a high-speed model flow. Small physical models operating under a Froude similitude systematically underestimate the air entrainment rate and air-water interfacial properties. To limit scale effects, minimal values of Reynolds or Weber number have to be respected. The present article summarizes the physical background of such limitations and their combination in terms of the Morton number. Based upon a literature review, the existing limits are presented and discussed, resulting in a series of more conservative recommendations in terms of air concentration scaling. For other air-water flow parameters, the selection of the criteria to assess scale effects is critical because some parameters （e.g., bubble sizes, turbulent scales） can be affected by scale effects, even in relatively large laboratory models.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)were investigated in water,sediments,suspended sediments and biofilms in Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR),*** showed that dissolved bioavailable PBDEs in water of TGR collected with semipermeable membrane device(SPMD)-based virtual organisms(VOs)were very low in the range of *** 811 pg/g lipid and the detected compounds were mainly low molecular BDEs such as BDE-15,17,28,47,49,66,99 and *** PBDE levels in the sediment core collected near the dam were also very low in the range of 84e300 pg/g dw and the detected compounds were mainly large molecular BDEs such as BDE-196,197,206,207 and *** suspended sediments and biofilms,the levels of PBDEs ranged from 298 to 52,843 pg/g dw and the detected compounds were also mainly large molecular BDEs such as BDE-196,197,201,203,206,207,208 and *** dominant compound was BDE-209 which accounted for more than 90%of the total ***,large molecular BDEs tended to be attached on fine *** vertical profile of BDEs on suspended sediments(SS)showed that SSs in the middle depth of water contained high level of *** phenomenon indicated that most of BDE-209 did not settle into the sediment in front of the dam,instead transported further to downstream.

The concentration of polychlorinated biphenyls （PCBs） in the urban air of Dalian, China was monitored from November 2009 to October 2010 with active high-volume sampler and semipermeable membrane device （SPMD） passive sampler. The concentration of PCBs （particle ＋ gas）（∑PCBs） ranged from 18.6 to 91.0 pg/m3, with an average of 50.9 pg/m3, and the most abundant dioxin-like PCB （DL-PCBs） was PCB118. The WHO-TEQ values of DL-PCBs were 3.6--22.1 fg/m3, with an average of 8.5 fg/m3, and PCB126 was the maximum contributor to ZTEQ. There was a much larger amount of PCBs in the gas phase than in the particulate phase. The dominant PCB components were lower and middle molecular weight PCBs. With increasing chlorination level, the concentration of the PCB congeners in the air decreased. The gas-particulate partitioning of PCBs was different for the four seasons. The gas- particulate partitioning coefficients （logKp） vs. subcooled liquid vapor pressures （logPL~） of PCBs had reasonable correlations for different sampling sites and seasons. The absorption mechanism contributed more to the gas-particulate partitioning process than adsorption. Correlation analysis of meteorological parameters with the concentration of PCBs was conducted using SPSS packages. The ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure were important factors influencing the concentration of PCBs in the air. The distribution pattern of the congeners of PCBs and the dominant contributors to DL-PCBs and TEQ in active samples and SPMDs passive samples were similar. SPMD mainly sequestrated gas phase PCBs.

Evidence has been brought forward that: 1. In those parts of China, where special investigations have been made, syphilis has been found at least as frequent, if not more common than in Western countries.2. The view still held by medical men of the rarity and even regionary absence of neurosyphilis in China cannot be maintained any longer, but that, on the contrary, all forms of nervous syphilis are prevalent among the Chinese race and also found in tropical climate.3. Certain forms, neuro-recidives and spastic spinal paralysis, have been observed decidedly more frequently and tabes, at least as often, in the region of Peiping than in Europe.4. China needs special institutions for the care of insane and more medical men with a thorough neurological and psychiatric training.

14-3-3 proteins play an important role in the regulation of many cellular processes. The Arabidopsis vacuolar two-pore K＋ channel 1 （TPK1） interacts with the 14-3-3 protein GRF6 （GF14-λ）. Upon phosphorylation of the putative binding motif in the N-terminus of TPK1, GRF6 binds to TPK1 and activates the potassium channel. In order to gain a deeper understanding of this 14-3-3-mediated signal transduction, we set out to identify the respective kinases, which regulate the phosphorylation status of the 14-3-3 binding motif in TPK1. Here, we report that the calcium-dependent protein kinases （CDPKs） can phosphorylate and thereby activate the 14-3-3 binding motif in TPK1. Focusing on the stress-activated kinase CPK3, we visualized direct and specific interaction of TPK1 with the kinase at the tonoplast in vivo. In line with its proposed role in K＋ homeostasis, TPK1 phosphorylation was found to be induced by salt stress in planta, and both cpk3 and tpkl mutants displayed salt-sensitive phenotypes. Molecular modeling of the TPK1-CPK3 interaction domain provided mechanistic insights into TPK1 stress-regulated phosphorylation responses and pinpointed two arginine residues in the N-terminal 14-3-3 binding motif in TPK1 critical for kinase interaction. Taken together, our studies provide evidence for an essential role of the vacuolar potassium channel TPK1 in salt-stress adaptation as a target of calcium-regulated stress signaling pathways involving Ca2＋, Ca2＋-dependent kinases, and 14-3-3 proteins.

The concentrations of 28 organochlorine pesticides(OCPs)in the urban air of Dalian,China were measured using semipermeable membrane devices(SPMDs)for the first ***-hexachlorocyclohexane(a-HCH),b-HCH,pentachlorobenzene(PentCB),hexachlorobenzene(HexCB),4,40-dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane(4,40-DDT),4,40-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethene,endosulfan-I and endosulfan-II were the predominant OCPs in the urban air of *** concentration of OCPs sequestrated by SPMDs(CSPMD)ranged from undetected to 56,772 pg SPMD-1and had a linear correlation with the reciprocal of the average ambient atmospheric temperature(1/T).The CSPMDof PentCB and HexCB had negative correlations with T,whereas the other detected OCPs had a positive *** source of HCHs,DDTs,HexCB,PentCB,chlordane,and endosulfan in the air were also *** OCPs in the urban air of Dalian could be attributed to the seasonal usage of pesticides,combustion,volatilization of aged OCPs from soil,water,plants,and long-range atmospheric transport.
