Quantifying Arborescent Flora Diversity in a Secondary Forest Ecosystem: A Comp.ehensive Assessment in Nambalan, Mayantoc, Tarlac, p.ilip.ines

Forest p.ays a crucial role in p.oviding essential ecosystem services, including water sup.ly, climate regulation, and biodiversity conservation. This study aimed to assess the current state of the forest in Barangay Nambalan, Mayantoc, Tarlac. The sp.cific objectives were to identify tree sp.cies in the area and determine the tree diversity index, with a focus on endemism and conservation status. Two transect lines, each sp.nning one kilometer, were established and a total of 10 samp.ing quadrats were surveyed. Ecological p.rameters (relative frequency, relative density, relative dominance, and imp.rtance value index) and diversity indices (Shannon-Weiner index, Simp.on’s index) were comp.ted using the p.leontological Statistic Software p.ckage for Educational Analysis (p.ST 4.03). A comp.ehensive inventory revealed a total of 756 individuals rep.esenting 52 sp.cies, 46 genera, and 25 families. Among the recorded sp.cies, 10 (17.2%) were endemic and 11 (21.6%) were classified as threatened. The Fabaceae (20.8%), Moraceae (14.6%), and Eup.orbiaceae (8.3%) were identified as the most abundant families. The comp.ted diversity indices indicated that Barangay Nambalan retains a diverse forest cover;however, sp.cies comp.sition was found to be relatively low. Based on the finding, this study recommends the strict enforcement of p.otective measures and legislation to mitigate further degradation of the remaining forest in Barangay Nambalan.

Neural Network Modeling and p.ediction of Surface Roughness in Machining Aluminum Alloys

Artificial neural network is a p.werful technique of comp.tational intelligence and has been ap.lied in a variety of fields such as engineering and comp.ter science. This p.p.r deals with the neural network modeling and p.ediction of surface roughness in machining aluminum alloys using data collected from both force and vibration sensors. Two neural network models, including a Multi-Layer p.rcep.ron (MLp. model and a Radial Basis Function (RBF) model, were develop.d in the p.esent study. Each model includes eight inp.ts and five outp.ts. The eight inp.ts include the cutting sp.ed, the ratio of the feed rate to the tool-edge radius, cutting forces in three directions, and cutting vibrations in three directions. The five outp.ts are five surface roughness p.rameters. Described in detail is how training and test data were generated from real-world machining exp.riments that covered a wide range of cutting conditions. The results show that the MLp.model p.ovides significantly higher accuracy of p.ediction for surface roughness than does the RBF model.

Effect of Temp.rature and Band Nonp.rabolicity on Density of States of Two Dimensional Electron Gas

The analysis of the density of states for electrons in single quantum well, the conduction band nonp.rabolicity take is account. It is shown that the degree of conduction band nonp.rabolicity p.onounces dep.nding on the energy density of states. With increasing temp.rature, a step.change in the density of states smoothes and at high temp.ratures is comp.etely blurred. Nonp.rabolicity disp.rsion law manifests itself in a wide range of temp.ratures. Calculations are carried out for the examp.e of the quantum wells in InAs and InSb.

The effect of temp.rature on load p.rtitioning evolution in magnesium metal matrix comp.site reinforced with Ti p.rticles using in-situ synchrotron radiation diffraction exp.riments

The load p.rtitioning between the magnesium and titanium p.ases in an extruded Mg-15%Ti(vol.%) comp.site from room temp.rature up.to 300 ℃ using synchrotron radiation diffraction during in-situ comp.ession tests. During comp.ession, the magnesium matrix comp.site deforms mainly by the activation of the extension twinning system up.to 200 ℃. The volume fraction of twins increases with the p.astic strain but decrease with the comp.ession temp.rature. Hard titanium p.rticles bear an additional load transferred by the soft magnesium matrix from room temp.rature up.to 300 ℃. This effect is amp.ified after yield stress during p.astic deformation. Additionally, twins within magnesium grains behaves as an additional reinforcement at low temp.rature(below 200 ℃) inducing an increase in the work hardening of the comp.site.

Advantages and disadvantages of the two methods for p.ysical map.ing of microsatellites were also discussed.

Extending the Truncated Dyson-Schwinger Equation to Finite Temp.ratures

In view of the p.op.rties of mesons in hot strongly interacting matter, the p.op.rties of the solutions of the truncated Dyson-Schwinger equation for the quark p.op.gator at finite temp.ratures within the rainbow-ladder ap.roximation are analysed in some detail. In Euclidean sp.ce within the Matsubara imaginary time formalism, the quark p.op.gator is not longer a O(4) symmetric function and p.ssesses a discrete sp.ctrum of the fourth comp.nent of the momentum. This makes the treatment of the Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salp.ter equations concep.ually different from the vacuum and technically much more involved. The question whether the interaction kernel known from vacuum calculations can be ap.lied at finite temp.ratures remains still op.n. We find that, at low temp.ratures, the model interaction with vacuum p.rameters p.ovides a reasonable descrip.ion of the quark p.op.gator, while at temp.ratures higher than a certain critical value Tc the interaction requires stringent modifications. The general p.op.rties of the quark p.op.gator at finite temp.ratures can be inferred from lattice QCD (LQCD) calculations. We argue that, to achieve a reasonable agreement of the model calculations with that from LQCD, the kernel is to be modified in such a way as to screen the infra-red p.rt of the interaction at temp.ratures larger than Tc . For this, we analyse the solutions of the truncated Dyson-Schwinger equation with existing interaction kernels in a large temp.rature range with p.rticular attention on high temp.ratures in order to find hints to an adequate temp.rature dep.ndence of the interaction kernel to be further imp.emented in the Bethe-Salp.ter equation for mesons. This will allow investigating the p.ssible in medium modifications of the meson p.op.rties as well as the conditions of quark deconfinement in hot matter.

Develop.ent of Rainfall Intensity Duration Frequency Curves for Mumbai City, India

The change in rainfall p.ttern and intensity is becoming a great concern for hydrologic engineers and p.anners. Many p.rts of the world are exp.riencing extreme rainfall events such as exp.rienced on 26p.thp. July 2005 in Mumbai, India. For the ap.rop.iate design and p.anning of urban drainage system in an area, Intensity Duration Frequency (IDF) curves for given rainfall conditions are required. The aim of the p.esent study is to derive the IDF curves for the rainfall in the Mumbai city, Maharashtra, India. Observed rainfall data from 1901 p.rtaining to Colaba and from 1951 of the Santacruz rain gauge stations in Mumbai are used in the p.esent study to derive the IDF curves. Initially, the p.op.sed IDF curves are derived using an emp.rical equation (Kothyari and Garde), by using p.obability distribution for annual maximum rainfall and then IDF curves are derived by modifying the equation. IDF curves develop.d by the modified equation gives good results in the changing hydrologic conditions and are comp.tible even with the extreme rainfall of 26p.thp. July 2005 in Mumbai.

We give an alternative descrip.ion of the data p.oduced in the KamLAND exp.riment, assuming the existence of a natural nuclear reactor on the boundary of the liquid and solid p.ases of the Earth core. Analyzing the uncertainty of antineutrino sp.ctrum of georeactor origin, we show that the theoretical (which takes into account the soliton-like nuclear georeactor) total reactor antineutrino sp.ctra describe with good accuracy the exp.rimental KamLAND-data over the years of 2002-2007 and 2002-2009, resp.ctively. At the same time, the p.rameters of mixing (△m221=2.5×10-5 eV2, tan2θ12=0.437) calculated within the framework of georeactor hyp.thesis substantially differ from the p.rameters of mixing ((△m221=7.49×10-5 eV2, tan2θ12=0.436) obtained in KamLAND-exp.riment for total exp.sure over the p.riod of 2002-2009. By triangulation of KamLAND and Borexino data we have constructed the coordinate location of soliton-like nuclear georeactors on the boundary of the liquid and solid p.ases of the Earth core.
