Fully densified in-situ reinforced (TiB + TiC)-Ti matrix composites have been produced from TiH2-B4C mixtures using pressure less sintering or hot pressing technique. With increasing content of reinforcing components the sintering is retarded. The materials with more than 20 - 30 vol. % were only completely densified by hot pressing technique. Hardness values of the Ti matrix composites produced are up to 5 times higher than that of the sintered pure Ti produced from TiH2. This is caused beside the higher hardness of the inclusions also by hardening the matrix due to solubility of B and C in the titanium.

Female Entrepreneurship in Switzerland： Specificities and Differences

Women entrepreneurs are increasingly representing an underexploited potential of the Swiss economy. Although entrepreneurship represents a rapidly expanding phenomenon, women meet specific difficulties that explain this lack of exploitation by the economy, The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor （GEM）, a not-for-profit academic research consortium, published its annual report which mentioned in particular a difference between female and male entrepreneurship. According to these results, it can be noticed that the typical profile of the female entrepreneur differs from that of her male counterpart. In Switzerland, those differences can be situated at three levels：（I） In the first place, a natural difference of the female entrepreneurship at the level of activities （service activities, low-added value, and low potential of job creation）; （2） Secondly, a difference in motivation/commitment （part-time work, start-up funds available, skills, received opportunities, and fear of failure）; and （3） Thirdly, a difference at the level of insertion （revealing the importance of networking, access to financing and structures of encouragement）. The present communication points up a typical profile of the woman entrepreneur in Switzerland. The authors also intend to identify the kind of obstacles female entrepreneur is likely to meet as well as the existing initiatives to exceed stereotypes by taking into account her specificities. There are several supports and measures intended to help women entrepreneurship concerning the following aspects： better time management; adapted following and training structures; access to easier financing; and better visibility and networking.

Purpose:This study aimed to quantify the dose-response association and the minimal effective dose of leisure-time physical activity(PA)to prevent mortality and cardiovascular disease in adults with type 2 ***:Cross-country comparison of 2 prospective cohort studies including 14,913 and 17,457 population-based adults with type 2 diabetes from the UK and *** leisure-time PA was self-reported and categorized by metabolic equivalent hours per week(MET-h/week)according to World Health Organization recommendations:none,below recommendation(>0-7.49 MET-h/week);at recommended level(7.5-14.9 MET-h/week);above recommendation(>15 MET-h/week).Mortality and cardiovascular disease data were obtained from national ***:During a median follow-up of 12.4 and 9.7 years,in the UK and China cohorts,repectively,higher levels of leisure-time PA were inversely associated with all-cause(1571 and 2351 events)and cardiovascular mortality(392 and 1060 events),mostly consistent with a linear dose-response *** below,at,and above recommendations,compared with no activity,yielded all-cause mortality hazard ratios of0.94(95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.79-1.12),0.90(95%CI:0.74-1.10),and 0.85(95%CI:0.70-1.02)in British adults and 0.87(95%CI:0.68-1.10),0.88(95%CI:0.74-1.03),and 0.77(95%CI:0.70-0.85)in Chinese *** with cardiovascular mortality were more pronounced in British adults(0.80(95%CI:0.58-1.11),0.75(95%CI:0.52-1.09),and 0.69(95%CI:0.48-0.97))but less pronounced in Chinese adults(1.06(95%CI:0.76-1.47),1.01(95%CI:0.80-1.28),and 0.79(95%CI:0.69-0.92)).PA at recommended levels was not associated with lower rates of major adverse cardiovascular events(2345 and 4458 events).Conclusion:Leisure-time PA at the recommended levels was not convincingly associated with lower mortality and had no association with risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in British or Chinese adults with type 2 ***-time PA above current recom

Sustainable and efficient water treatment techniques to improve the quality of water for various applications include advanced oxidation processes(AOP),mainly focusing on heterogeneous *** science and nanotechnology have contributed to tailoring the properties of photocatalytic materials to significantly enhance their photoactivity and *** we report the development of a well-organized nanoporous TiO_(2)-based photocatalytic reactor for water *** TiO_(2) materials were directly grown using a two-step electrochemical anodization process in ethylene glycol+0.3 wt%NH_(4)F+2 wt%H_(2)*** prepared nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).To enhance the photocatalytic activity of the system,water scrubbing was incorporated to boost the presence of oxygen in the water,enhancing the electron uptake at the conduction band thus significantly reducing the electron–hole recombination and increasing the photocatalytic *** further enhance the efficiency and reduce the negative environmental impact of the technology,a UVA-LED assembly was used instead of the typical mercury-based UV lamps for *** nanoporous TiO_(2) was tested as a catalyst for the photochemical oxidation of various categories of pollutants;dye(methylene blue),and the removal of microbes such as *** photoreactor developed in this research work was also successfully applied and tested in real-world applications such as keeping heavily used hot-tub water clean without using harmful chemicals(chlorine,bromine,ozone,etc.)or expensive *** simplicity and efficacy of the new approach described in this study make possible the integration of nanoporous TiO_(2) in the design of high-performance air and water purification technologies.

Prevalence of Cesarean Section at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, Guyana: An Institution-Based Cross-Sectional Study

The International Healthcare Community recommends that countries do not exceed a 15% rate for cesarean section (CS). Our objective was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with CS at GPHC from July to September 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out and data were collected from 1296 mothers, who met the inclusion criteria, through face-to-face interviews after obtaining prior informed consent. We performed descriptive analyses both for the outcome and independent variables. Bivariate and multiple logistic regression were used to identify factors associated with CS with a p-value Results: The prevalence of CS at GPHC was 28.9% (95%CI: 26.5-31.5). Factors associated factors with CS were mothers aged 20 to 34 years (AOR: 1.56, 95%CI: 1.02 - 2.39, P = 0.039);mothers who received more than three minimum wages (AOR: 1.95, 95%CI: 1.29 - 2.97, P = 0.002) and who attended prenatal care at both public and private health facilities (AOR: 2.49, 95% CI: 1.19 - 5.22, P = 0.022). Likewise, the highest Odds of CS were observed in mothers with gestational hypertension (AOR: 2.00, 95%CI: 1.35 - 2.96, P Conclusion: The prevalence of CS is higher than the ideal rate recommended by the International Healthcare Community. More studies are needed to understand the reasons for such high prevalence at GPHC.

Chloroplast Proteins without Cleavable Transit Peptides： Rare Exceptions or a Major Constituent of the Chloroplast Proteome？

Most chloroplast proteins （cp proteins） are nucleus-encoded, synthesized on cytosolic ribosomes as precursor proteins containing a presequence （cTP）, and post-translationally imported via the Tic/Toc complex into the organelle, where the cTP is removed. Only a few unambiguous instances of cp proteins that do not require cTPs （non-canonical cp proteins） have been reported so far. However, the survey of data from large-scale proteomic studies presented here suggests that the fraction of such proteins in the total cp proteome might be as large as -30%. To explore this discrepancy, we chose a representative set of 28 putative non-canonical cp proteins, and used in vitro import and Red Fluorescent Protein （RFP）-fusion assays to determine their sub-cellular destinations. Four proteins, including embryo defective 1211, glycolate oxidase 2, protein disulfide isomerase-like protein （PDII）, and a putative glutathione S-transferase, could be unambiguously assigned to the chloroplast. Several others （＇potential cp proteins＇） were found to be imported into chloroplasts in vitro, but failed to localize to the organelle when RFP was fused to their C-terminal ends. Extrapolations suggest that the fraction of cp proteins that enter the inner compartments of the organelle, although they lack a cTP, might be as large as 11.4% of the total cp proteome. Our data also support the idea that cytosolic proteins that associate with the cp outer membrane might account for false positive cp proteins obtained in earlier studies.
