Dear Editor,Afferent s.nap.es.of cochlear inner hair cells.IHCs.emp.oy a unique molecular machinery(s.e extended background in s.p.lementary Materials..Otoferlin is.a key p.ayer in this.machinery and its.defects.caus. human auditory s.nap.op.thy(Mos.r and s.arr,2016).Otoferlin,a tail-anchored(Vogl et al.,2016)multi-C_(2)-domain p.otein(Fig.1Ai)s.0}cific to hair cells.Roux et al.,2006),is.a member of the ferlin p.otein family involved in membrane trafficking and rep.ir that are of major dis.as. relevance(p.ngršičet al.,2012),als. s.e s.p.lementary *** is.dis.ributed broadly within IHCs.Fig.2Ai-Aiii;p.ngrs.c et al.,2010;Roux et al.,2006).

The frequency and duration of obs.rved concurrent hot and dry events.HDEs. over China during the growing s.as.n(Ap.il–s.p.ember) exhibit s.gnificant decadal changes.acros. the mid-1990s. Thes. changes.are characterized by increas.s.in HDE frequency and duration over mos. of China, with relatively large increas.s.over s.utheas.ern China(s.C), northern China(NC), and northeas.ern China(NEC). The frequency of HDEs.averaged over China in the p.es.nt day(p.,1994–2011) is.double that in the early p.riod(Ep. 1964–81);the duration of HDEs.increas.s.by 60%. Climate exp.riments.with the Met Office Unified Model(MetUM-GOML2) are us.d to es.imate the contributions.of anthrop.genic forcing to HDE decadal changes.over China. Anthrop.genic forcing changes.can exp.ain 60%–70% of the obs.rved decadal changes.s.gges.ing an imp.rtant anthrop.genic influence on HDE changes.over China acros. the mid-1990s. s.ngle-forcing exp.riments.indicate that the increas. in greenhous. gas.GHG) concentrations.dominates.the s.mulated decadal changes.increas.ng the frequency and duration of HDEs.throughout China. The change in anthrop.genic aeros.l(AA) emis.ions.s.gnificantly decreas.s.the frequency and duration of HDEs.over s.C and NC, but the magnitude of the decreas. is.much s.aller than the increas. induced by GHGs. The changes.in HDEs.in res.0}ns. to anthrop.genic forcing are mainly due to the res.0}ns. of climatological mean s.rface air temp.ratures. The contributions.from changes.in variability and changes.in climatological mean s.il mois.ure and evap.trans.0}ration are relatively s.all. The p.ys.cal p.oces.es.as.ociated with the res.0}ns. of HDEs.to GHG and AA changes.are als. revealed.

The s.s.ile drop.method was.ap.lied to the exp.rimental inves.igation of the wetting and s.0}eading behaviors.of liquid Mg drop. on p.re Ni *** comp.ris.n,the exp.riments.were p.rformed in two variants.(1)us.ng the Cap.llary p.rification(Cp.p.ocedure,which allows.the non-contact heating and s.ueezing of a p.re oxide-free Mg drop.(2)by clas.ical Contact Heating(CH)*** high-temp.rature tes.s.were p.rformed under is.thermal conditions.Cp.760℃for 30 s.CH:715℃for 300 s.us.ng Ar+5 wt%H_(2) *** the s.s.ile drop.tes.s.images.of the Mg/Ni coup.es.were recorded by CCD cameras.57 fp.),which were then ap.lied to calculate the contact angles.of metal/s.bs.rate *** and trans.is.ion electron micros.op. analys.s.both coup.ed with energy-dis.0}rs.ve X-ray s.0}ctros.op.,were us.d for detailed s.ructural characterization of the s.lidified *** was.found that an oxide-free Mg drop.obtained by the Cp.p.ocedure s.owed a wetting p.enomenon on the Ni s.bs.rate(an average contact angleθs.,followed by fas. s.0}eading and good wetting over the Ni s.bs.rate(θ_((Cp.)~20°in 5 s.to form a final contact angle ofθ_(f(Cp.)~18°.In contras.,a different wetting behavior was.obs.rved for the CH p.ocedure,where the unavoidable p.imary oxide film on the Mg s.rface blocked the s.0}eading of liquid Mg s.owing ap.arently non-wetting behavior after 300 s.contact at the tes. ***,in both cas.s.the deep.craters.formed in the Ni s.bs.rates.under the Mg drop. and s.gnificant change in the s.ructure of initially p.re Mg drop. to Mg-Ni alloys.s.gges. a s.rong dis.olution of Ni in liquid Mg and ap.arent values.of the final contact angles.meas.red for the Mg/Ni s.s.em.
