Expression of AID, P53, and Mlh1 proteins in endoscopically resected differentiated-type early gastric cancer

AIM: To analyze the expression of the tumor-related proteins in differentiated-type early gastric carcinoma (DEGC) samples. METHODS: Tumor specimens were obtained from 102 patients (75 males and 27 females) who had received an endoscopic tumor resection at Tottori University Hospital between 2007 and 2009. Ninety-one cancer samples corresponded to noninvasive or intramucosal carcinoma according to the Vienna classification system, and 11 samples were submucosal invasive carcinomas. All of the EGCs were histologically differentiated carcinomas. All patients were classified as having Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infections by endoscopic atrophic changes or by testing seropositive for H. pylori IgG. All of the samples were histopathologically classified as either tubular or papillary adenocarcinoma according to their structure. The immunohistochemical staining was performed in a blinded manner with respect to the clinical information. Two independent observers evaluated protein expression. All data were statistically analyzed then. RESULTS: The rates of aberrant activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) expression and P53 overexpression were both 34.3% in DEGCs. The expression of Mlh1 was lost in 18.6% of DEGCs. Aberrant AID expression was not significantly associated with P53 overexpression in DEGCs. However, AID expression was associated with the severity of mononuclear cell activity in the non-cancerous mucosa adjacent to the tumor (P = 0.064). The rate of P53 expression was significantly greater in flat or depressed tumors than in elevated tumors. The frequency of Mlh1 loss was significantly increased in distal tumors, elevated gross-type tumors, papillary histological-type tumors, and tumors with a severe degree of endoscopic atrophic gastritis (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Aberrant AID expression, P53 overexpression, and the loss of Mlh1 were all associated with clinicopathological features and gastric mucosal alterations in DEGCs. Depth Based View Synthesis Using Graph Cuts for 3DTV

In three-dimensional television (3DTV), an interactive free viewpoint selection application has received more attention so far. This paper presents a novel method that synthesizes a free-viewpoint based on multiple textures and depth maps in multi-view camera configuration. This method solves the cracks and holes problem due to sampling rate by performing an inverse warping to retrieve texture images. This step allows a simple and accurate re-sampling of synthetic pixels. To enforce the spatial consistency of color and remove the pixels wrapped incorrectly because of inaccuracy depth maps, we propose some processing steps. The warped depth and warped texture images are used to classify pixels as stable, unstable and disoccluded pixels. The stable pixels are used to create an initial new view by weighted interpolation. To refine the new view, Graph cuts are used to select the best candidates for each unstable pixel. Finally, the remaining disoccluded regions are filled by our inpainting method based on depth information and texture neighboring pixel values. Our experiment on several multi-view data sets is encouraging in both subjective and objective results. Furthermore, our proposal can flexibly use more than two views in multi-view system to create a new view with higher quality.

Hollow polymer particles are widely used in various industries as coatings and thermal insulation *** encapsulation capabilities of various functional molecules and/or nanomaterials also provide access to applications such as drug delivery,heat storage,and catalysis,as well as self-healing *** this study,we successfully fabricated hollow polymer particles from poly(vinyl cinnamate)(PVC)particles using LED light(λ=265 nm)through interfacial ***,we systematically studied the effect of various parameters(solid contents of parent particles,photoirradiation time,photoirradiation power,and polymer chain length)on the polymer shell thickness of the hollow PVC particles fabricated by interfacial *** findings are expected to further promote the use of hollow polymer particles in pharmaceutical and material applications.

Depth-Aided Tracking Multiple Objects under Occlusion

In this paper, we have presented a novel tracking method aiming at detecting objects and maintaining their la-bel/identification over the time. The key factors of this method are to use depth information and different strategies to track objects under various occlusion scenarios. The foreground objects are detected and refined by background subtraction and shadow cancellation. The occlusion detection is based on information of foreground blobs in successive frames. The occlusion regions are projected to the projection plane XZ to analysis occlusion situation. According to the occlusion analysis results, different objects’ corresponding strategies are introduced to track objects under various occlusion scenarios including tracking occluded objects in similar depth layer and in different depth layers. The experimental results show that our proposed method can track the moving objects under the most typical and challenging occlusion scenarios.

Adsorption of Phosphate and Nitrate Using Modified Spent Coffee Ground and Its Application as an Alternative Nutrient Source for Plant Growth

Phosphate (PO43-) and Nitrate (NO3-) are two main nutrients that cause water eutrophication. In the other hand, the presence of PO43- and NO3- is needed for plant growth. The aims of this study are to recycle Spent Coffee Ground (SCG) modified with calcium hydroxide for adsorption PO43- and NO3-. The optimum adsorption capacity for PO43- and NO3- is 36.74 mg/L and 20.21 mg/L, respectively. The Freundlich isotherm model was suitable for PO43- and NO3- adsorption. The kinetic model for adsorption was linear using Pseudo-second order. The application of modified SCG after enrichment with PO43-
