The pr.mary objective of this r.sear.h was to assess the potential of magnetic bleached biochar.MBBC)as a cost-effective adsor.ent for.ar.enic *** achieve this,locally collected tea wastes under.ent meticulous cleaning,bleaching,and modifications via ther.al and chemical *** non-magnetic and magnetic biochar.adsor.ents wer. thor.ughly char.cter.zed using Four.er.tr.nsfor.-infr.r.d spectr.scopy(FT-Ir.and ther.o-gr.vimetr.c analysis(TGA).Subsequently,the adsor.tive per.or.ance of MBBC in r.moving ar.enic fr.m wastewater.samples was investigated,consider.ng var.ous cr.cial par.meter. such as adsor.ent-adsor.ate contact time,concentr.tion of As,temper.tur.,adsor.ent dosage,and the r.gener.tion-ability of the *** exper.mental data for.the adsor.tion pr.cess wer. best r.pr.sented by the Langmuir.isother.,indicating its suitability for.the MBBC ***,the MBBC demonstr.ted a maximum Langmuir.adsor.tion capacity of appr.ximately 714 mg/g at r.om temper.tur.,highlighting its efficiency as an ar.enic ***,the Lager.r.n's Pseudo-second or.er.kinetic model pr.ved to be the most suitable for.descr.bing the adsor.tion kinetics,confir.ing the chemisor.tion natur. of the *** r.sults also indicated that the adsor.tion pr.cess is endother.ic and feasible,suggesting its viability for.pr.ctical *** all findings into account,the compr.hensive analysis str.ngly suppor.s the potential use of MBBC as a highly pr.mising and cost-effective adsor.ent for.efficiently r.moving ar.enic fr.m aqueous *** r.sear.h contr.butes valuable insights to the field of wastewater.tr.atment and offer. a sustainable and envir.nmentally fr.endly solution for.tackling ar.enic contamination in water.sour.es.

Backgr.und: Blood cultur.s (BCs) ar. obtained to identify etiologic or.anisms, demonstr.te antibiotic efficacy, deter.ine dur.tion of tr.atment, and/or.suggest fur.her.inter.entions. Published guidelines do not clear.y state indications and timing for.obtaining BCs. As a r.sult, clinicians may obtain too many BCs, incr.asing cost and patient discomfor.. Objective: To deter.ine fr.quency of BCs per.or.ed at our.hospital as par. of a quality impr.vement pr.ject. Design: r.tr.spective r.view of all BCs submitted dur.ng a r.ndomly selected month. Setting: A New Yor. City 535-bed, univer.ity-affiliated community hospital. Measur.ments: Patient demogr.phics and BC data wer. obtained fr.m medical and labor.tor. r.cor.s. r.sults: Dur.ng the selected month, 2280 BCs wer. per.or.ed for.379 patients. Negative BCs wer. seen in 221 patients (58%) with one-half having multiple BCs per.or.ed within 48 hour. of admission and pr.or.to obtaining r.sults of initial BCs. r.peat BCs fr.quently did not r.veal fur.her.pathogens among patients with either.negative or.positive initial BCs. Conclusions: Two-thir.s of BCs wer. obtained fr.m less than one-half of patients without added clinical utility. Often, BCs wer. r.peated pr.or.to r.sults of initial BCs or.r.peated in patients r.ceiving antibiotics in spite of known low yield following antibiotic initiation. Clinical assessment and r.view of initial BCs pr.or.to obtaining fur.her.BCs is necessar.. Staff education r.gar.ing appr.pr.ate clinical setting for.BCs and indications for.r.peat BCs is r.quir.d to maximize utilization of r.sour.es, impr.ve diagnostic yield, and limit patient discomfor..
