Depression and Suicidal Risk in HIV-Infected Adults at Brazzaville University Hospital: Prevalence and Associated Factors

Introduction: Highly active antiretroviral tritherapies have improved the quality of life of people living with HIV (PVVIH) and extended their life expectancy. However, the nervous system is faced with a neurotropic virus that evolves chronically, sometimes creating neurological disorders directly or indirectly linked to stigmatization or therapeutic effects. Objective: to determine the prevalence of depression associated with suicidal risk (sr) and identify associated factors. Patients and method: This was a prospective descriptive and analytical study from January 1 to November 30, 2022, including all HIV-positive patients receiving or not receiving antiretroviral therapy. The study took place in the infectious diseases department of Brazzaville University Hospital. This department has an inpatient capacity of 36 beds, and an outpatient capacity of 25 patients per day, three times a week. This is the largest center for PVVIH in Brazzaville. The Patient Heath Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) was used to assess the degree of depression and suicidal risk. Therapeutic adherence was assessed using the Morisky questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23 software. Qualitative variables were expressed as numbers and percentages, and quantitative variables as means and standard deviations. Statistical tests were used according to their applicability criteria. For all tests, the significance threshold was set at 0.05. Results: A total of 150 patients were consulted, constituting the sample size. The prevalence of depression and suicidal risk was 32%. These patients had an average age of 42.83 ± 10.24 years, were female (n = 101;67.3%), Christian (n = 97;64%), single (n = 68;45.3%). Stigmatization (n = 75;50%) was the reason for attempted suicide. HIV was perceived as treatable (n = 103;68.7%), unlucky (n = 62;41.3%). Patients were WHO stage 1 (n = 105;70%). RS was present in 47 cases (31.3%). Calcium-sensing receptor in colorectal inflammation and cancer:Current insights and future perspectives

The extracellular calcium-sensing receptor(Casr) is best known for its action in the parathyroid gland and kidneys where it controls body calcium homeostasis. However, the Casr has different roles in the gastrointestinal tract, where it is ubiquitously expressed. In the colon, the Casr is involved in controlling multiple mechanisms, including fluid transport, inflammation, cell proliferation and differentiation. Although the expression pattern and functions of the Casr in the colonic microenvironment are far from being completely understood, evidence has been accumulating that the Ca sr might play a protective role against both colonic inflammation and colorectal cancer. For example, Casr agonists such as dipeptides have been suggested to reduce colonic inflammation, while dietary calcium was shown to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. Casr expression is lost in colonic malignancies, indicating that the Casr is a biomarker for colonic cancer progression. This dual anti-inflammatory and anti-tumourigenic role of the Casr makes it especially interesting in colitisassociated colorectal cancer. In this review, we describe the clinical and experimental evidence for the role of the Casr in colonic inflammation and colorectal cancer, the intracellular signalling pathways which are putatively involved in these actions, and the possibilities to exploit these actions of the Casr for future therapies of colonic inflammation and cancer.

A detailed mechanism of degradation behaviour of biodegradable as-ECAPed Zn-0.8Mg-0.2sr with emphasis on localized corrosion attack

In this study, advanced techniques such as atom probe tomography, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to determine the corrosion mechanism of the as-ECAPed Zn-0.8Mg-0.2sr alloy. The influence of microstructural and surface features on the corrosion mechanism was investigated. Despite its significance, the surface composition before exposure is often neglected by the scientific community. The analyses revealed the formation of thin ZnO, MgO, and MgCO3 layers on the surface of the material before exposure. These layers participated in the formation of corrosion products, leading to the predominant occurrence of hydrozincite. In addition, the layers possessed different resistance to the environment, resulting in localized corrosion attacks. The segregation of Mg on the Zn grain boundaries with lower potential compared with the Zn-matrix was revealed by atom probe tomography and atomic force microscopy. The degradation process was initiated by the activity of micro-galvanic cells, specifically Zn - Mg2Zn11/srZn13. This process led to the activity of the crevice corrosion mechanism and subsequent attack to a depth of 250 μm. The corrosion rate of the alloy determined by the weight loss method was 0.36 mm⋅a􀀀 1. Based on this detailed study, the degradation mechanism of the Zn-0.8Mg-0.2sr alloy is proposed.

Role of human papillomavirus in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma: A review

Human papillomavirus(HPV) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of a subset of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. As a result, traditional paradigms in relation to the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma have been changing. Research into HPVrelated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma is rapidly expanding, however many molecular pathological and clinical aspects of the role of HPV remain uncertain and are the subject of ongoing investigation. A detailed search of the literature pertaining to HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma was performed and information on the topic was gathered. In this article, we present an extensive review of the current literature on the role of HPV in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, particularly in relation to epidemiology, risk factors, carcinogenesis, biomarkers and clinicalimplications. HPV has been established as a causative agent in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma and biologically active HPV can act as a prognosticator with better overall survival than HPV-negative tumours. A distinct group of younger patients with limited tobacco and alcohol exposure have emerged as characteristic of this HPV-related subset of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. However, the exact molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis are not completely understood and further studies are needed to assist development of optimal prevention and treatment modalities.

Kosice矿床是斯洛伐克第二大的菱镁矿床(150Mt),位于Gemeric的东部.其镁质碳酸盐矿体赋存于石炭纪石灰石和含白云石的石灰石中,同时下盘黑色片岩中也含有被铁质碳酸盐交代的薄层碳酸盐透镜体.在华力西期造山运动(M1)中,古生代岩石受到了低级变质作用(绿泥石带).镁交代作用始于白云岩1的结晶作用,其后形成菱镁矿,最终沿裂隙形成铁菱镁矿.铁质碳酸盐包括早期铁白云石-白云石,铁白云石和后期含方解石和石英的菱铁矿.根据碳酸盐矿物对地质温度计,白云石l结晶作用发生在300～340℃.这一结果与M1的变质矿物组合(绿泥石,白云母-伊利石)吻合.铁白云石的结晶作用发生在320～370℃.少量细脉中可见白云石2,绿泥石和伊利石-多硅白云母,它们是由于阿尔卑斯期造山运动M2变质作用形成的更晚的矿物组合.菱镁矿的流体包裹体(FI)研究,显示存在不同成分的热卤水,卤水成分变化相当于NaCl含量21～42 wt%,但其它成分的盐含量高于NaCl,溶解的CO2含量也有变化.两相包裹体均一温度(Th)的范围为164～217℃,含石盐子晶包裹体均一温度的范围为217～344℃.富CO2包裹体(盐度相当于NaCl含量1～22wt%,CO2的密度为0.28～0.77 g·cm-3,均一温度为289～344℃)在菱镁矿中是次要的,但这种包裹体在与矿石伴生的石英中是主要的,并且与含石盐子晶流体包裹体共生.在后期镁交代过程中流体中的CO2逐渐增加.和铁质碳酸盐伴生的石英中只有两相包裹体,包裹体中CO2含量有所变化,盐度范围为17～24 wt%的NaCl(或者34～36 wt%的MgCl2),均一温度为152～195℃.包裹体的数据结合碳酸盐地质温度计显示镁交代作用的压力范围是180～320MPa(7～12km),铁交代作用的压力范围是280～420MPa(10～16km),说明地热梯度约为25～35℃/km.包裹体浸出液的分析表明Cl/Br和Na/Br的比值存在变化,但仍旧说明富镁的卤水来源是上二叠纪和下三叠纪的分馏蒸发岩来源.铁质碳酸盐流体的高溴和高碘含量,说明在铁交代过程中周围黑色片岩的明显影响.菱镁矿和铁交代作用,表明交代流体中的碳和二氧化碳,主要是海洋沉积的来源.菱铁矿的'sr/86sr比值((0.71124～0.71140),说明锶的多来源,最初应是石炭纪和二叠纪的海水,但它被当地其它陆壳中的锶混染.

钾霞橄黄长岩是一种产于大洋和 /或大陆环境 ,尤以大陆裂谷最为多见的超钾质火山岩 ,也是世界上出露最少的火成岩之一 ,目前世界只有少数几个国家和地区有这类岩石的报道。甘肃西秦岭新生代火山岩是我国目前唯一有报道的钾霞橄黄长岩产区。本文详细介绍了西秦岭新生代钾霞橄黄长岩及深源包体的岩石学特征 ,提供了该区 13个岩体 30个具代表性的全岩化学和主要矿物的化学成分分析结果 ,6个具代表性的sr,Nd,Pb同位素分析结果 ,以及 2个火山岩全岩 Ar/ Ar同位素定年结果。研究表明西秦岭新生代钾霞橄黄长岩主要是中新世火山作用的产物。火山岩的化学成分贫 Si O2 和 Al2 O3,富 Mg O,Ca O,Ti O2 和 (K2 O+Na2 O) ,以及具有高的 [Mg O]值 (平均大于 6 8)和 Ni O含量 (平均在 0 .3%以上 )。火山岩中含有丰富的深源包体 ,岩石的结晶程度很差。所有这些表明西秦岭存在原生钾霞橄黄长岩浆。而且本区钾霞橄黄长岩与碳酸岩密切共生 ,显示了典型的大陆区钾霞橄黄长岩的特征。火山岩的Σ REE在 36 5× 10 - 6 ～ 6 4 9× 10 - 6 之间 ,其中轻稀土总量 (Σ L REE)达 319× 10 - 6 ～ 5 6 9× 10 - 6 ,尤以强烈富集大离子轻石元素 (K、 Rb、 sr、 Ba)和相对亏损高场强元素 (Nb、 Ta等 )为特征。火山岩具有相对高的 1

Forest fire risk indices and zoning of hazardous areas in Sorocaba,Sao Paulo state,Brazil

This study compares the performance of three fire risk indices for accuracy in predicting fires in semideciduous forest fragments,creates a fire risk map by integrating historical fire occurrences in a probabilistic density surface using the Kernel density estimator(KDE)in the municipality of Sorocaba,Sao Paulo state,*** logarithmic Telicyn index,Monte Alegre formula(MAF)and enhanced Monte Alegre formula(MAF+)were employed using data for the period 1 January 2005 to 31 December *** data and numbers of fire occurrences were obtained from the National Institute of Meteorology(INMET)and the Institute for Space Research(INPE),*** performance measures were calculated:Heidke skill score(SS)and success rate(sr).The MAF+index was the most accurate,with values of SS and sr of 0.611%and 62.8%,*** fire risk map revealed two most susceptible areas with high(63 km^2)and very high(47 km^2)risk of fires in the *** of the best risk index and the generation of fire risk maps can contribute to better planning and cost reduction in preventing and fighting forest fires.

Therapeutic options for HER-2 positive breast cancer: Perspectives and future directions

During the last 15 years we have witnessed an unprecedented expansion in the drugs developed to target human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER-2) positive breast cancer. Trastuzumab, pertuzumab, adotrastuzumab emtansine and lapatinib are currently food and drug administration(FDA)-approved for the treatment of breast cancer patients with HER-2 overexpressed. However, given the amount of information gathered from years of uninterrupted clinical research, it is essential to have periodic updates that succinctly recapitulate what we have learnt over these last years and help us to apply that information in our daily practice. This review will pursue that objective. We will summarize the most relevant and updated informationrelated to the state of the art management of HER-2 positive breast cancer in all the clinical scenarios including the adjuvant, neoadjuvant and metastatic settings. But we will also critically appraise that literature in order to highlight some key clinical concepts that should not be overlooked. Lastly, this review will also point out some of the most promising strategies that are currently being tested and may soon become available.
