Mushroom Mountain karren with predominantly flat tops that formed along the stylolites and bedding planes dictated the special features of this karst landscape. Their features and rock relief clearly reflect the geological conditions and development. The subsoil karren with conical tops dissected by subsoil rock relief were exposed from beneath the soil. Below tree vegetation, the subsoil karren are to a great extent covered by moss and lichen, under which they acquire their characteristic shape. On the bare surface they were reshaped by rainwater that carves flutes and solution pans. The old cave that opens below the top of one of the cones reveals the period before its dissection into hills and cones when this part of the karst aquifer was still deep under the water table.

Debris flows occurring on Klapperhorn Mountain in the Yellowhead Pass in the Canadian Rocky Mountains pose a significant hazard to railway operations at the base of the mountain. The size (volume) and travel distance of these debris flows play an important role in assessing the risk to the railway. GIs analysis, airphoto interpretation together with field work were undertaken on two debris flows located at track mileage 54.0 and 54.3. Characteristics of these two debris flow events were analyzed, including debris flow path morphology and event behavior. Their sizes and travel distances were estimated using an empirical-statistical model (UBCDFLOW) under different initiation conditions. Their potential impact on the railway bridge was evaluated using a bridge blockage ratio.

Poor road conditions in underground mine tunnels can lead to decreased production efficiency and increased wear on production vehicles. A prototype system for road condition monitoring is presented in this paper to counteract this. The system consists of three components i.e. localization, road monitoring, and scheduling. The localization of vehicles is performed using a Rao-Blackwellized extended particle filter, combining vehicle mounted sensors with signal strengths of Wi Fi access points. Two methods for road monitoring are described: a Kalman filter used together with a model of the vehicle suspension system, and a relative condition measure based on the power spectral density. Lastly, a method for taking automatic action on an ill-conditioned road segment is proposed in the form of a rescheduling *** scheduling algorithm is based on the large neighborhood search and is used to integrate road service activities in the short-term production schedule while minimizing introduced production *** system is demonstrated on experimental data collected in a swedish underground mine.

The development and achievements of modern coal mining with stowing are discussed in this paper. The necessity of developing coal mining with stowing is briefly summarized and internal damage within the strata and external damage on surface induced by longwall working with caving are discussed. Technological features of coal mining with pneumatic stowing in Germany, and fully mechanised coal mining with solid dense stowing in China, are discussed. In German hard coal mining stowing technologies are for technical, infrastructural and economical reasons not applicable. The discussion includes the stowing material transportation system, the stowing machine, and processes at the face. Progressiveness and application universality of China's fully mechanised coal mining with solid dense stowing are illustrated through practical examples with different conditions. Obviously, the fully mechanised coal mine with solid dense stowing can be improved by automaion systems. This paper discusses further developmental potential of the technology.

Previous studies have shown cost effectiveness and quality-of-life benefit of pneumatic compression therapy(PCT)for lymphedema(LE).Insurers,such as the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid(CMs),however,desire visual proof that PCT moves *** infrared fuorescence lymphatic imaging(NIRFLI)was used to visualize lymphatic anatomy and function in four subjects with primary and cancer treatment-related LE of the lower extremities before,during,and after *** transparent and windowed PCT garments allowed visualization of lymph movement during single,1h PCT treatment *** revealed significant extravascular and lymphatic vascular movement of intradermally injected dye in all *** one subject with sufficient patent lymphatic vessels to allow quantification of lymph pumping velocities and frequencies,these values were significantly increased during and after PCT as compared to pre-treatment *** contractile activity in patent lymphatic vessels occurred in concert with the sequential cycling of *** visualization revealed increased lymphatic function,during and after PCT therapy,in all LE-affected *** studies are warranted to assess the effects of PCT pressure and sequences on lymph uptake and movement.

The design of indoor airflow environments can significantly reduce the risk of respiratory epidemic infections *** studies have successfully developed theoretical models for calculating the effect of airflow fields on infection ***,up until now,studies have primarily focused on simulating and calculating the distribution of viral infection rates in current building *** to the lack of a direct influence model for the design parameters and infection rate calculation,the present studies lack a quantitative analysis of the design *** paper investigates the building openings design approach in a medium-sized kindergarten in Germany,intending to explore passive-based design solutions to improve the building's ability to prevent the virus'*** calculate the infection rate distribution in space by CFD combined with the Wells-Riley *** then,use the Grasshopper platform to build an optimization model with the design parameters of building openings and infection rate values to discuss the relationship between geometric parameters and infection rate *** results show that the building openings'design parameters in transition spaces significantly affect the indoor infection rate under the condition that the input wind speed at the building openings is *** can see that optimizing building openings significantly reduces the average infection rate in *** infection rate in the area with the largest decrease can be reduced by 18.41%.The distribution of infection rate in space is much more uniform,and the excess area is significantly *** study has implications for future research and practice in designing public buildings under the influence of long-standing and cyclical outbreaks of epidemics.

CO_(2) methanation using nickel-based catalysts has attracted large interest as a promising power-to-gas *** nanoparticles supported on nitrogen-doped CNTs with Ni loadings in the range from 10 wt% to 50 wt% were synthesized by impregnation,calcination and reduction and characterized by elemental analysis,X-ray powder diffraction,H_(2) temperature-programmed reduction,CO pulse chemisorption and transmission electron *** Ni/NCNT catalysts were highly active in CO_(2) methanation at atmospheric pressure,reaching over 50% CO_(2) conversion and over 95% CH_(4) selectivity at 340℃ and a GHsV of50,000 mL g^(-1) h^(-1) under kinetically controlled *** small Ni particle sizes below 10 nm despite the high Ni loading is ascribed to the efficient anchoring on the N-doped *** optimum loading of 30 wt%-40 wt% Ni was found to result in the highest Ni surface area,the highest degree of conversion and the highest selectivity to methane.A constant TOF of 0.3 s^(-1) was obtained indicating similar catalytic properties of the Ni nanoparticles in the range from 10 wt%to 50 wt% Ni ***-term experiments showed that the Ni/NCNT catalyst with 30 wt% Ni was highly stable for 100 h time on stream.

since indoor clothing insulation is a key element in thermal comfort models,the aim of the present study is proposing an approach for predicting it,which could assist the occupants of a building in terms of recommendations regarding their *** that,a systematic analysis of input variables is exposed,and 13 regression and 12 classification machine learning algorithms were developed and *** results are based on data from 3352 questionnaires and 21 input variables from a field study in mixed-mode office buildings in *** temperature at 6 a.m.,indoor air temperature,indoor relative humidity,comfort temperature and gender were the most relevant features for predicting clothing *** comparing machine learning algorithms,decision tree-based algorithms with Boosting techniques achieved the best *** proposed model provides an efficient method for forecasting the clothing insulation level and its application would entail optimising thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

The family Alaudidae,larks,comprises 93-100 species(depending on taxonomy)that are widely distributed across Africa and Eurasia,with single species extending their ranges to North and northernmost south America and Australia.A decade-old molecular phylogeny,comprising~80%of the species,revealed multiple cases of parallel evolution and large variation in rates of morphological evolution,which had misled taxonomists into creating many non-monophyletic ***,we reconstruct the phylogeny of the larks,using a dataset covering one mitochondrial and 16 nuclear loci and comprising all except one of the currently recognised species as well as several recently proposed new species(in total 133 taxa;not all loci available for all species).We provide additional support using genome-wide markers to infer a genus-level phylogeny based on near-complete generic sampling(in total 51 samples of 44 taxa across 40 species).Our results confirm the previous findings of rampant morphological convergence and divergence,and reveal new cases of paraphyletic *** propose a new subfamily classification,and also that the genus Mirafra is divided into four genera to produce a more balanced generic classification of the *** study supports recently proposed species splits as well as some recent lumps,while also questioning some of the *** comprehensive phylogeny will form an important basis for future studies,such as comparative studies of lark natural history,ecology,evolution and conservation.
