Introduction: The incidence of acute renal failure (ARF) varies between 20% and 40% of cases for COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit, with very high mortality, but heterogeneous according to the different epidemic waves, probably due to the genetic variant phenomenon of the virus. The aim of this study is to determine the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19 patients admitted with ARF to the intensive care unit of the Grand h?pital Est Francilien (GhEF) according to the waves and variants. Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of COVID-19 patients with ARF admitted to the intensive care unit of the GhEF site in Meaux covering the period from March 1st 2020 to December, 31st 2021. Per-hospitalisation and outcome data were collected and analysed with SPSS version 25.0 software using the Chi-square or Fischer’s exact test or Student’s t-test and logistic regression for p Results: A total of 86 patients were included. The mean age was higher (70 ± 8.5) in patients in the fourth wave than in the other waves (p = 0.015), with male predominance in all waves without significant difference. Co-morbidities: hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, dyslipidaemia and arrhythmia complete with fibrillation were present in all waves. The majority of patients were classified as KDIGO 1 for the different waves (1st: 61.9%, 2nd: 86.5%, 3rd: 80%, and 4th: 75%), with the same trend according to variant (alpha: 80%, beta: 75%, delta: 81.3%, omicron: 75%). Mortality by the wave was: 1st: 28.5%, 2nd: 37.5%, 3rd: 23% and 4th: 11%) and by variant: alpha: 24.2%, beta: 44.8%, delta: 20.7%, omicron: 10.3%). Overall mortality was 33.7%. A Method of Characterizing Radio Signal Space for Wireless Device Localization

In this work we present a novel approach for describing radio signal spaces for localization algorithms. We first introduce a new metric, the Discretely Distributed Log-h61der Metric （DDLhM）. The DDLhM is designed to characterize the type and degree of signal distortion relative to Iognormal signal-to-distance path models. We first show how the DDLhM can describe and discriminate distortions in an exhaustive set of synthetic signal spaces. We then determine a reduced set of maximally diagnostic distortion parameters. Using only 4% of the maximal set of DDLhMs, we found the reduced set matches with an acceptable degree of error 95% of the time. Using the synthetic reduced set, we characterized a variety of wireless localization algorithms＇ behaviors to attenuation, bias, and multipath. We found algorithms made much different tradeoffs between best case and average case error. We then use the DDLhM to identify distortion types in three different physical environments using measured 802.11 signal strengths, and predict the positioning performance of several localization algorithms. Our approach predicts average localization error to within 2 meters of the observed average error.

CO_(2) methanation using nickel-based catalysts has attracted large interest as a promising power-to-gas *** nanoparticles supported on nitrogen-doped CNTs with Ni loadings in the range from 10 wt% to 50 wt% were synthesized by impregnation,calcination and reduction and characterized by elemental analysis,X-ray powder diffraction,h_(2) temperature-programmed reduction,CO pulse chemisorption and transmission electron *** Ni/NCNT catalysts were highly active in CO_(2) methanation at atmospheric pressure,reaching over 50% CO_(2) conversion and over 95% Ch_(4) selectivity at 340℃ and a GhSV of50,000 mL g^(-1) h^(-1) under kinetically controlled *** small Ni particle sizes below 10 nm despite the high Ni loading is ascribed to the efficient anchoring on the N-doped *** optimum loading of 30 wt%-40 wt% Ni was found to result in the highest Ni surface area,the highest degree of conversion and the highest selectivity to methane.A constant TOF of 0.3 s^(-1) was obtained indicating similar catalytic properties of the Ni nanoparticles in the range from 10 wt%to 50 wt% Ni ***-term experiments showed that the Ni/NCNT catalyst with 30 wt% Ni was highly stable for 100 h time on stream.

To investigate the changes of hemodynamic and laboratory parameters during the course of acute liver failure following acetaminophen *** pigs underwent a midline laparotomy following jejunal catheter placement for further acetaminophen intoxication and positioning of a portal vein Doppler flow-probe. Acute liver failure was realized by intrajejunal acetaminophen administration in six animals, two animals were sham operated. All animals were invasively monitored and received standardized intensive care support throughout the study. Portal blood flow, hemodynamic and ventilation parameters were continuously recorded. Laboratory parameters were analysed every eight hours. Liver biopsies were sampled every 24 h following intoxication and upon *** liver failure (ALF) occurred after 28 ± 5 h resulted in multiple organ failure and death despite maximal support after further 21 ± 1 h (study end). Portal blood flow (baseline 1100 ± 156 mL/min) increased to a maximum flow of 1873 ± 175 mL/min at manifestation of ALF, which was significantly elevated (P hrombocyte values (baseline 307 × 103/µL ± 34 × 103/µL) of intoxicated animals declined slowly to values of 145 × 103/µL ± 46 × 103/µL when liver failure occurred. Subsequent appearance of severe thrombocytopenia in liver failure resulted in values of 11 × 103/µL ± 3 × 103/µL preceding fatality within few hours which was significant (P > 0.01).CONCLUSIONDeclining portal blood flow and subsequent severe thrombocytopenia after acetaminophen intoxication precede fatality in a porcine acute liver failure model.

Structural and mechanical properties of La_(1/3)NbO_3 and La_(1/3)TaO_3 thin films prepared by chemical solution deposition

In this work, properties of perovskite lanthanum niobate La1/3NbO3(LN) and tantalate La1/3TaO3(LT)transparent thin films(200 nm thickness) prepared by chemical solution deposition on Pt/SiO2/Si substrates were described. The precursors and films were analyzed using FTIR and XPS spectra, XRD and SEM imaging. The both films after annealing at 1100 ℃ contained perovskite phase with a small fraction of pyrochlore LaNb5O14(in LN). The heterogeneous micro structure of LN film was composed from spherical or needle-like particles and homogeneous LT film that resulted in significant changes of their mechanical properties. The elastic modulus and hardness of these films were characterized for the first time by conventional and continuous stiffness(CSM) nanoindentation. The LT film modulus(E) and hardness(h) were higher(105.7 and 5.3 GPa) than LN(91.5 and 3.8 GPa). The effect of microstructure on mechanical properties is significant. In addition, the average Derjaguin-Muller-Toporov(DMT)-based elastic modulus of LN film surface were estimated50 GPa using AFM PeakForce QNM elastic mapping. The findings presented here can contribute to the fabrication of LN and LT films for the application to electrolytic thin film devices.
