Water depths and flow velocities decisively influence the damage caused by flash *** Information System(GIS)is a powerful and useful tool,allowing the spatial analysis of results obtained by hydraulic modelling,namely from the HEC-RAS/HEC-GeoRAS *** GIS spatial analysis performed in this study seeks to explain and quantify the spatial relationships between the stream channel features and flow components during flash flood *** these relationships are generically known,there are few studies exploring this subject in different geographic contexts.A 1D hydraulic model was applied in a small watershed in Portugal,providing good results in the definition of floodable areas,water depths and longitudinal *** direct relationship was found between water depths and velocities in the floodable areas;however,negative strong correlations were found between the two flow components along the stream *** slope,channel and flood width,and roughness prove to be highly relevant on the longitudinal variations of water depths and velocities and on the location of maximum *** peak discharges and return periods(R;)can change the relationships between water depths and velocities at the same *** can be improved with more accurate elevation data for stream channels and floodplains.

The water crisis is one of the biggest human problems in developing countries,especially in semi-arid regions where it can form an obstacle to irrigation and cultivation,cattle raising and people's *** construction of small dams/reservoirs are a possible solution to remediate this *** infrastructures must be located in suitable areas to be *** study aimed to find the most suitable locations for small dams/reservoirs in the Tete province region,Mozambique,which has a pronounced water deficit A Geographical Information System(GIS)based approach was used to implement a multicriteria evaluation(MCE)analysis through an Analytic Hierarchical Process(AHP),which included local experts’*** main categories of suitability were identified:"Not suitable”(15%of total area),"Modestly suitable"(78%),and“Suitable"(7%).We found that 35 of the 38(92%)abandoned small dams/reservoirs were in areas classified as“Modestly suitable”confirming the robustness of our *** also found that most of the dams/reservoirs currently operating(78%)and planned(73%)are in modestly suitable *** finding suggests that the decision to construct dams/reservoirs may not have considered the most critical suitability factors identified in this *** data and/or additional criteria are required for the full understanding of finding out why so many dams/reservoirs failed before building new ones to address the population’s water needs in the region.

The widespread W-(Mo)-Sn-Nb-Ta polymetallic mineralization in Southeast(SE)China is genetically associated with Mesozoic highly fractionated granitic *** rocks have enigmatic mineralogical and geochemical features,making its petrogenesis an intensely debated *** better understand the underlying magma evolution processes,petrography,garnet chemistry and whole-rock major and trace element data are reported for Jurassic highly fractionated granitic rocks and associated microgranite and aplitepegmatite dikes from Macao and compared with coeval similar granitic rocks from nearby areas in SE *** the fact that the most evolved rocks in Macao are garnet-bearing aplite-pegmatite dikes,the existence of coeval two-mica and garnet-bearing biotite and muscovite granites displaying more evolved compositions(e.g.,lower Zr/Hf ratios)indicates that the differentiation sequence reached higher degrees of fractionation at a regional *** crystal fractionation played an important role,late-stage fluid/melt interactions,involving F-rich fluids,imparted specific geochemical characteristics to Macao and SE China highly fractionated granitic rocks such as the non-CHARAC(CHArge-and-RAdius-Controlled)behavior of trace elements,leading,for example,to non-chondritic Zr/Hf ratios,Rare Earth Elements(REE)tetrad effects and Nb-Ta enrichment and *** process contributed to the late-stage crystallization of accessory phases only found in these highly evolved *** the latter,two populations of garnet were identified in MGI(Macao GroupⅠ)highly fractionated granitic rocks:small grossular-poor euhedral grains and large grossular-rich skeletal garnet grains with quartz *** first group was mainly formed through precipitation from highly evolved Mn-rich slightly peraluminous melts under low-pressure and relatively low temperature(~700℃)*** of upper crust metasedimentary materials may have contributed as a source of Mn and

Although uncommon, sporadic nonampullary duodenal adenomas have a growing detection due to the widespread of endoscopy. Endoscopic therapy is being increasingly used for these lesions, since surgery, considered the standard treatment, carries significant morbidity and mortality. However, the knowledge about its risks and benefits is limited, which contributes to the current absence of standardized recommendations. This review aims to discuss the efficacy and safety of endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) in the treatment of these lesions. A literature review was performed, using the Pubmed database with the query: "(duodenum or duodenal)(endoscopy or endoscopic) adenoma resection", in the human species and in English. Of the 189 retrieved articles, and after reading their abstracts, 19 were selected due to their scientific interest. The analysis of their references, led to the inclusion of 23 more articles for their relevance in this subject. The increased use of EMR in the duodenum has shown good results with complete resection rates exceeding 80% and low complication risk(delayed bleeding in less than 12% of the procedures). Although rarely used in the duodenum, ESD achieves close to 100% complete resection rates, but is associated with perforation and bleeding risk in up to one third of the cases. Even though literature is insufficient to draw definitive conclusions, studies suggest that EMR and ESD are valid options for the treatment of nonampullary adenomas. Thus, strategies to improve these techniques, and consequently increase the effectiveness and safety of the resection of these lesions, should be developed.

We perform a comparison in terms of accuracy and CPU time between second order BDF semi-Lagrangian and Lagrange-Galerkin schemes in combination with high order finite element *** numerical results show that for polynomials of degree 2 semi-Lagrangian schemes are faster than Lagrange-Galerkin schemes for the same number of degrees of freedom,however,for the same level of accuracy both methods are about the same in terms of CPU *** polynomials of degree larger than 2,Lagrange-Galerkin schemes behave better than semi-Lagrangian schemes in terms of both accuracy and CPU time;specially,for polynomials of degree 8 or ***,we have performed tests on the parallelization of these schemes and the speedup obtained is quasi-optimal even with more than 100 processors.

AIM:To determine initial medication adherence in newly diagnosed glaucoma patients treated with anti-glaucoma ***:This retrospective and observational study included all patients diagnosed with glaucoma in the Primary Health Care units in Portugal during the years 2012 and 2013,which in consequence received a first prescription for anti-glaucoma *** was collected from electronic prescribing records of the primary care units and from pharmacy claims *** of glaucoma treatment and early discontinuation were measured,and the combination of(non)-initiation and early discontinuation accounted for initial medication(non)-***:A total of 3548 new glaucoma patients(40.1%male;59.9%female)were *** 1133(31.9%)patients were initially classified as non-users,since there was no pharmacy claim found for their first prescription for glaucoma ***,277(11.5%)patients early discontinued their treatment,acquiring only their first ***,the initial medication non-adherence rate was 39.7%since 1410 patients either didn’t initiate treatment or discontinued it ***:This study,reveals a major opportunity to improve glaucoma treatment and its control,since a large proportion of patients fail to engage with their prescribed therapy,which implies that implementation of individual or group strategies that enable patients with glaucoma to correctly perform their treatment is still needed.

Chloroplasts and mitochondria genomes contain a few dozen genes required for gene expression, photosynthesis, and the electron transport chain. However, proteomic and bioinformatic studies suggest that approximately 2000 and 2600 proteins are located in plant mitochondria and chloroplasts, respectively; most of them are encoded by nuclear genes, synthesized in the cytoplasm, and targeted to organelles. Despite the simplicity of organelle genomes, their transcriptional regulation is complex and can only be partially explained by currently known transcriptional machinery components, suggesting that additional unidentified regulatory factors exist （Liere et al., 2011）.

Cosmic radiation has several effects on the On-Board Processing(OBP)platform in satellite communications systems,and Single Event Upsets(SEUs)are one of its most important *** order to protect the Finite Impulse Response(FIR)filters against SEU,this paper proposes a novel Residue Number(RN)-based *** proposed method applies the transpose form of the FIR filter to avoid the fault missing caused by SEU on shift *** also adjusts the input intelligently to avoid the fault missing caused by SEU on the filter *** all the fault missing events are avoided,the modulus can be minimised to achieve the minimum *** analysis and simulation results show that the noise introduced by the input adjustment is *** injection shows that the fault missing rate of the proposed method is ***,FPGA implementation shows that the overhead of the proposed method is approximately 75% of Triple Modular Redundancy,and is only 1%-2% higher than that of the traditional RN-based design.
