The economy as a whole and most of its constituent parts, like markets, government institutions, firms, or households, are inherently complex conceptual constructions. Micro-level diversity,decentralized interaction, self-organization, adaptation and learning, emergence, and evolution, are some of the fundamental features that the above entities share and that allow to classify them as being complex entities. In a complex economic system, existing structures of interaction are in constant mutation as individual agents contact and influence one another and, by doing so, reshape the macro environment in which socio-economic relations unfold. Notwithstanding the observed pervasiveness of complexity in economics, there are a few areas of economic thought where the discussion on the theme has gained an exceptional relevance. In this article, six of such areas are identified and their complex nature is highlighted and scrutinized. These pertain to:(i) Knowledge interactions and technological innovation;(ii) Corporate design and organizational learning;(iii) Public policies directed at market regulation;(iv) Banking and financial markets;(v) Environmental economics, sustainability,and climate change;and(vi) income inequality.

This work is devoted to the experimental study of inertial wave regimes in a non-uniform rotating cylinder with antiparallel inclined *** this setting,the cross-section of the cylinder is divided into two regions where the fluid depth increases or decreases with *** different regimes are found:inertial wave attractor,global oscillations(the cavity’s resonant modes)and regime of symmetric reflection of wave *** linear wave regimes,a steady single vortex elongated along the rotation axis is *** location of the wave’s interaction with the sloping ends determines the vortex position and the vorticity *** non-linear regimes several pairs of the triadic resonance subharmonics are detected *** instability of triadic resonance is accompanied by the periodic generation of mean vortices drifting in the azimuthal ***,the appearance frequency of the vortices is consistent with the low-frequency subharmonic of the triadic *** experimental results shed light on the mechanisms of the inertial wave interaction with zonal flow and may be useful for the development of new methods of mixing.

AIM To investigate the effect of dietary fiber on symptoms and esophageal function testing parameters in nonerosive gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)(NERD) *** Thirty-six NERD patients with low(< 20 g/d) dietary fiber intake were enrolled in the study. They were examined with the use of symptom questionnaire(GERD-Q), highresolution esophageal manometry, 24-h esophageal p Himpedance examinations, and food frequency questionnaire before and after 10 d of usual diet supplemented by psyllium 5.0 g TID. Complete data of 30 patients were available to the final analysis. The obtained results were analyzed with the use of non-parametric statistics(Wilcoxon matched pairs test). RESULTS The number of patients experiencing heartburn was less(93.3% at baseline vs 40% at the end of the study, P < 0.001) and the GERD-Q score decreased(mean ± SD: 10.9 ± 1.7 vs 6.0 ± 2.3, P < 0.001) after the treatment period. Minimal resting lower esophageal sphincter(LES) pressure increased from 5.41 ± 10.1 to 11.3 ± 9.4 mm Hg(P = 0.023), but no change in residual LES pressure and mean resting pressure was found. Total number of gastroesophageal refluxes(GER) decreased from 67.9 ± 17.7 to 42.4 ± 13.5(P < 0.001) predominantly by acid and weak acid types of GERs. No significant change in mean esophageal p H and % of time p H < 4 was registered. Maximal reflux time decreased from 10.6 ± 12.0 min to 5.3 ± 3.7 min(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Fiber-enriched diet led to a significant increase of minimal lower esophageal sphincter resting pressure, a decrease of number of gastroesophageal refluxes, and a decrease of heartburn frequency per week in NERD.

Recently, real-time simulation of renewable energy sources are indispensible for evaluating the performance of the maximum power point tracking （MPPT） controller, especially in the photovoltaic （PV） system in order to reduce cost in the testing phase. Nowadays, real time PV simulators are obtained by using analog and/or digital components. In this paper, a real-time simulation of a PV system with a boost converter was proposed using only the digital signal processor （DSP） processor with two DC voltage sources to emulate the temperature and irradiation in the PV system. A MATLAB/ Simulink environment was used to develop the real-time PV system with a boost converter into a C-program and build it into a DSP controller TMS320F28335. Besides, the performance of the real-time DSP-based PV was tested in different temperature and irradiation conditions to observe the P-V and V-I characteristics. Further, the performance of the PV with a boost converter was tested at different temperatures and irradiations using MPPT algorithms. This scheme was tested through simulation and the results were validated with that of standard conditions given in the PV data sheets. Implementation of this project helped to attract more researchers to study renewable energy applications without real sources. This might facilitate the study of PV systems in a real-time scenario and the evaluation of what should be expected for PV modules available in the market.

Objective:The aim of the study was to evaluate the quality of sleep in nurses performing shift work in therapeutic and surgical depar tments and to establish possible relationships between level of blood pressure(BP)and quality of ***:A total of 20 nurses of the therapeutic depar tments and 20 nurses of the surgical depar tments were enrolled in the *** quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI).BP was measured according to the standard protocol using the Korotkoff method;a sphygmomanometer was used for this twice with an interval of 2 min between 10:00 *** 10:30 *** average value for the 2 indicators was *** diagnosis of essential ar terial hyper tension(AH)was established according to the recommendations of the European Association of Cardiology and the European Association of Hypertension(2018).Results:The overall assessment of the sleep quality of the nurses involved in shift work indicates poor sleep quality;this was true in respondents of both the surgical and therapeutic ***,it was observed that the quality of sleep was significantly lower in nurses of the therapeutic ***,poor sleep quality was associated with AH,which was diagnosed in 65%of the nurses of the therapeutic departments and 45%of the nurses of the surgical departments,that is,in almost all of the ***,in the nurses of the therapeutic departments,the level of systolic BP exceeded that of the nurses of the surgical ***:Poor sleep quality is a significant risk factor for AH development and is relevant to nurses performing shift *** clinical studies should be conducted to better understand the mechanisms underlying such adverse cardiometabolic outcomes associated with sleep disorders in the health-sector shift workers.

There have been few reports on the diversity and prevalence of parasitic fauna of the endangered Siberian tiger,which inhabits the territory of the Russian Far *** present review attempts to summarize the information about the parasitic fauna of wild Siberian tigers,which includes 15 helminths and 3 protozoan *** most prevalent parasitic species was found to be Toxocara cati,followed by Toxascaris *** commonly recorded Platyhelminth species is Paragonimus westermani,which causes a lethal infection of the lung parenchyma in Siberian ***,the information about infections by this fluke in the Siberian tigers is scarce,although *** infections pose a serious health hazard to tiger *** nematodes Aelurostrongylus abstrusus and Thominx aerophilus are found in Siberian tigers with an occurrence rate of 2.3%and 19%,*** information on the parasitic infestations of captive populations of Siberian tigers is also presented along with the sources of infection and hazards for the wild tiger populations in their natural environment.
