In steel continuous casting(CC),the choice of the appropriate speed at which the slab is cast can be influenced by many different factors and *** the slab thickness seems to have the biggest impact,other features like the slab width have been consistently *** fact,the slab width practically limits the casting speed via the mass flow constraint which governs the input and output balance at the ***,we present a case study that aims at analyzing steel production data from the perspective of casting speed *** studying the speed fluctuations of an industrial CC machine,we identify a strategic regime change toward a stricter consideration of the mass flow *** regime change manifests itself in a significant increase in the correlation between the actual casting speed and the maximal speed associated with the mass flow *** the surface,taking greater account of the input and output balance at the tundish has reduced the productivity of the continuous caster;however,one can argue that the lessened yield is compensated by a diminished risk of eventual slab *** the perspective of this trade-off,we establish a visualization technique that enables us to pinpoint the boundary beyond which one strategic regime becomes economically more advantageous than the other.

Reliable estimation of region-wide rice yield is vital for food security and agricultural ***-scale models have increased our understanding of rice yield and its estimation under theoretical environmental ***,they offer little infor-mation on spatial variability effects on farm-scale *** Sensing(RS)is a useful tool to upscale yield estimates from farm scales to regional *** research used RS with rice models for reliable yield *** several countries start to operatio-nalize rice monitoring systems,it is needed to synthesize current literature to identify knowledge gaps,to improve estimation accuracies,and to optimize *** paper critically reviewed significant developments in using geospatial methods,imagery,and quantitative models to estimate rice ***,essential characteristics of rice were discussed as detected by optical and radar sensors,band selection,sensor configuration,spatial resolution,mapping methods,and biophysical variables of rice derivable from RS ***,various empirical,process-based,and semi-empirical models that used RS data for spatial estimation of yield were critically assessed-discussing how major types of models,RS platforms,data assimilation algorithms,canopy state variables,and RS variables can be integrated for yield ***,to overcome current constraints and to improve accuracies,several possibilities were suggested-adding new modeling modules,using alternative canopy variables,and adopting novel modeling *** rice yields are expected to decrease due to global warming,geospatial rice yield estimation techniques are indispensable tools for climate change *** studies should focus on resolving the current limitations of estimation by precise delineation of rice cultivars,by incorporating dynamic harvesting indices based on climatic drivers,using innovative modeling approaches with machine learning.

This study evaluated the influence of husbandry（organic feed and management but not free-ranging vs. conventional） and sex（barrows vs. gilts） on pork meat quality. A total of 60 Longissimus thoracis pork muscle samples from different 3-way crossbred genotypes were chosen from 3 conventional and 2 organic pig farms. Technological meat quality was measured at 24 h post-mortem and muscle fatty acid content and composition was analysed by gas chromatography. The loin from organic pigs at 24 h of retail display had lower pH, but it had no detrimental effects on drip loss. All the International Commission on Illumination colour attributes except meat lightness differed between husbandry systems. Moisture and crude protein content were lower whereas intramuscular fat content was greater in organic than in conventional pork. Total saturated fatty acid（SFA）, monounsaturated fatty acid（MUFA）, polyunsaturated fatty acid（PUFA） and PUFA n-6 contents did not differ between husbandry systems, but total PUFA n-3（mainly C18：3 n-3） were greater in organic than in conventional pork. Sex did not affect ultimate p H or meat colour attributes but barrows showed lower moisture and greater intramuscular fat than gilts. Total SFA and MUFA content were similar but all the PUFA（both n-6 and n-3） were lower in barrows than in gilts. These results suggest that some bioactive compounds from dietary origin, i.e., linolenic acid（C18：3 n-3） content from dietary vegetable oils（soybean or olive olein）, might be used to highlight the nutritive value of（not free-ranging） organic pork meat. In addition, gilts were leaner than barrows and showed a more favourable PUFA/SFA ratio.

Background:It is well known that laparoscopic liver surgery can offer advantages over open liver surgery in selected ***,what type of procedures can benefit most from a laparoscopic approach has been investigated poorly thus *** aim of this study is thus to define the extent of advantages of laparoscopic over open liver surgery for lesions in the anterolateral(AL)and posterosuperior(PS)***:In this international multicentre retrospective cohort study,laparoscopic and open minor liver resections for lesions in the AL and PS segments were compared after propensity score *** differential benefit of laparoscopy over open liver surgery,calculated using bootstrap sampling,was compared between AL and PS resections and expressed as a Delta of the ***:After matching,3,040 AL and 2,336 PS resections were compared,encompassing open and laparoscopic procedures in a 1:1 *** and PS laparoscopic liver resections were more advantageous in comparison to open in terms of blood loss,transfusion rate,complications,and length of ***,AL resections benefitted more from laparoscopy than PS in terms of overall and severe complications(D-difference were 4.8%,P=0.046 and 3%,P=0.046)and blood loss(D-difference was 195 mL,P<0.001).Similar results were observed in the subset for high-volume centres,while in recent years no significant differences were found in the differential benefit between AL and PS ***:The advantage of laparoscopic over open liver surgery is greater in the AL segments than in the PS segments.

Paddy rice agriculture is practiced in both rain-fed and irrigated ecosystems in the ***,small farms are prevalent in the region,and current satellite-based mapping techniques do not distinguish between the two ecosystems at farm *** study developed an approach to rapidly map irrigated and rain-fed paddy rice in Iloilo,Philippines at 10 m resolutions using Google Earth *** approach used an ensemble of classifiers based on time-series vegetation indices to produce dry and wet seasonal maps for the entire *** showed a predominance of rain-fed rice areas in both seasons,with irrigated rice making up only onefourth of the total rice *** overall accuracy was achieved at 68%for the dry season and 75%for the wet season based on ground-acquired points and very high-resolution *** two types of paddies were classified at accuracies up to 87%.Furthermore,the land cover maps showed a strong agreement with the municipal *** resultant maps complement current official statistics and demonstrate the prowess of phenology-based mapping to create paddy inventories in a timely manner to inform food security and agricultural policies.

AIM： To determine the effects of prophylactic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor （PPARy） agonist administration in an experimental model of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography （post-ERCP） acute pancreatitis. METHODS： Post-ERCP pancreatitis was induced in male Wistar rats by infusion of contrast medium into the pancreatic duct. In additional group, rosiglitazone, a PPARγ agonist, was administered 1 h before infusion of contrast medium. Plasma and pancreas samples were obtained 6 h after the infusion. RESULTS： Infusion of contrast medium into the pancreatic duct resulted in an inflammatory process characterized by increased lipase levels in plasma, and edema and myeloperoxidase activity （MPO） in pancreas. This result correlated with the activation of nuclear factor κB （NFκB） and the inducible NO synthase （iNOS） expression in pancreatic cells. Rosiglitazone reduced the increase in lipase and the level of edema and the increase in myeloperoxidase as well as the activation of NFκB and iNOS expression. CONCLUSION： A single oral dose of rosiglitazone, given 1 h before post-ERCP pancreatitis induction is effective in reducing the severity of the subsequent inflammatory process. The protective effect of rosiglitazone was associated with NFκB inhibition and the blockage of leukocyte infiltration in pancreas.

Objective:To examine the impact of a 6-week endurance training on red blood cell(RBC)aging and deformability of healthy participants to detect possible improved hemorheological and performance-related ***:A total of 31 participants(17 females and 14 males)performed a 6-week moderate training protocol(three 1-h running sessions per week at 70%of maximal heart rate).Blood was sampled before and after the *** from each participant were fractioned according to density and age into 4 RBC *** were examined for changes of RBC properties,including aging distribution,RBC deformability,RBC microparticles,and phosphatidylserine *** and plasma nitrite levels were measured as indicators of nitric oxide ***:Aerobic performance,peak oxygen consumption,ventilatory thresholds,velocity at the aerobic-anaerobic threshold,and lactate at exhaustion improved after *** relative amount of both young RBCs and old RBCs increased,and the amount of the main RBC fraction *** externalization and RBC-derived microparticles *** deformability expressed as shear stress required to achieve half-maximum deformation to theoretical maximal elongation index at infinite shear stress improved in unfractioned RBCs(p<0.001).Nitrite decreased in total(p=0.001),young(p<0.001),main(p<0.001),and old(p=0.020)aged RBCs and in plasma(p=0.002),but not in very old ***:These results indicate that non-endurance-trained healthy participants benefit from a regular moderate running training program because performance-related parameters improve and a younger RBC population with improved RBC properties is induced,which might support oxygen supply in the microcirculation.
