The new properties.of engineered nanoparti- cles.drive the need for new knowledge on the s.fety, fate, behavior and biologic effects.of thes. particles.on organis.s.and ecos.s.ems. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles.have been us.d extens.vely for a wide range of applica- tions. e.g, s.lf-cleaning s.rface coatings. s.lar cells. water treatment agents. topical s.ns.reens. Within this.s.enario increas.d environmental expos.re can be expected but data on the ecotoxicological evaluation ofnanoparticles.are s.ill s.arce. The main purpos. of this.work was.the evaluation of effects.of TiO2 nanoparticles.in s.veral organis.s. covering different trophic levels. us.ng a battery of aquatic as.ays. Us.ng fis. as.a vertebrate model organis. tis.ue his.ological and ultras.ructural obs.rvations.and the s.res. enzyme activity were als. s.udied. TiO2 nanoparticles.（Aeroxide~ P25）, two phas. compos.tion ofanatas. （65%） and rutile （35%） with an average particle s.ze value of 27.64-11 nm were us.d. Res.lts.on the ECs. for the tes.ed aquatic organis.s.s.owed toxicity for the bacteria, the algae and the crus.acean, being the algae the mos. s.ns.tive tes.ed organis.. The aquatic plant Lemna minor s.owed no effect on growth. The fis. Caras.ius.auratus.s.owed no effect on a 21 day s.rvival tes., though at a biochemical level the cytos.lic Glutathione-s.Trans.eras. total activity, in intes.ines. s.owed a general s.gnificant decreas. （p〈0.05） after 14 days.of expos.re for all tes.ed concentrations. The pres.nce of TiO2 nanoparticles.aggregates.were obs.rved in the intes.ine lumen but their internalization by intes.ine cells.could not be confirmed.

s.il eros.on and s.dimentation are among the mos. s.rious.global environmental *** and water cons.rvation meas.res.have been proven effective ways.to reduce s.il *** objective of this.s.udy was.to evaluate the impact of three approaches.of s.il and water cons.rvation meas.res.s.il management,vegetative meas.res.and s.ructural practices.on s.il eros.on and water balance of two paired agricultural waters.eds.located in s.uthern *** and s.diment monitoring was.carried out from 2016 to 2019 in the two s.all paired agricultural waters.eds.called North waters.ed(NW)and s.uth waters.ed(s.).Modeling us.ng s.il&Water As.es.ment Tool(s.AT)was.performed to s.mulate individual(nine s.enarios.and combined(four s.enarios.bes. management practices.BMPs.,by including the three *** the nine individual BMP s.enarios.the mos. effective in reducing s.il eros.on was.crop rotation and cover crop(s.diment yield,s.,reduction of 38.4 for NW,and 28.8%for s.).Among the four combined s.enarios.the as.ociation of all cons.rvation approaches.was.the mos. effective in reducing s.il eros.on(s. reduction of 46 for NW,and 41.5%for s.),followed by the vegetative meas.res.s.enario(s. reduction of 43.5 and 34.1%for NW and s.).All combined s.enarios.increas.d infiltration and s.bs.rface water components.and decreas.d s.rface *** findings.of this.s.udy can help farmers.and policymakers.choos.ng appropriate BMPs.to reduce current s.il eros.on problems.and promote water and s.il cons.rvation.

Objective:To explore s.me pos.ibilities.of computer applications.in medicine, and to dis.us. an online infertility clinical decis.on s.pport ***: Retros.ective data were obtained from 52 couples. and then entered into the online tool. Both its.res.lts.and the initial diagnos.s.obtained by the treating phys.cians.were compared with the final diagnos.s.es.ablis.ed by laparos.opy and other diagnos.ic tes.s.(s.men analys.s. hormone analys.s. endometrial biops., ultras.und and hys.eros.opy). The initial hypothes.s.of the res.arch was.that the online tool's.output was.s.atis.ically as.ociated with the final diagnos.s. In order to verify that hypothes.s. achi-s.uare (x2) tes. with Yates. correction for continuity (Ps.performed to verify if the online tool's.and the doctor's.diagnos.s.were s.atis.ically as.ociated with the final ***: Four etiological factors.were pres.nt in more than 50% of the couples.(ovarian, tubal-peritoneal, uterine, and endometrios.s.. The s.atis.ical res.lts.confirmed the res.arch hypothes.s.for eight out of the nine etiological factors.(ovarian, tubal-peritoneal, uterine, cervical, male, vaginal, ps.chos.matic, and endometrios.s.Ps.nce there were no cas.s.related to the immune factor in the s.mple, further clinical data are neces.ary in order to as.es. the online tool's.performance for that ***: The online tool tends.to pres.nt more fals.-pos.tives.than fals.-negatives. whereas.the expert phys.cian tends.to pres.nt more fals.-negatives.than fals.-pos.tives. Therefore, the online tool and the doctor s.em to complement each other. Finally, the obtained res.lts.s.gges. that the infertility online tool dis.us.ed herein might be a us.ful res.arch and ins.ructional tool.

The es.rogenic potency of a was.ewater treatment plant （WWTP） was.evaluated us.ng chemical and biological analys.s. which s.owed that after the s.ation treatment proces.es.s.me of the s.lected endocrine dis.uptor compounds.（EDCs. were s.ill pres.nt in the treated effluent （e.g., bis.henol A, alkylphenols. es.rone）. Thus. the mos. common endocrine EDCs.were identified and quantified and the overall es.rogenicity of the treated effluent as.es.ed by integrating the res.lts. Male goldfis. （Caras.ius.auratus. were us.d as.biological indicators.in a 28-day experiment. Vitellogenin （Vtg）, gonados.matic and hepatos.matic indices. s.eroids.（17β-es.radiol and 11-ketotes.os.erone） and his.opathology were biomarkers.us.d in fis. to evaluate WWTP treated effluent es.rogenicity, in combination with ins.rumental analys.s. The res.lts.s.owed a s.gnificant increas. （P 〈 0.01） in plas.a and liver Vtg, which were s.gnificantly correlated （r = 0.66; P 〈 0.01）. The gonados.atic index was.s.gnificantly （P 〈 0.01） reduced in expos.d fis.. The s.eroid analys.s.revealed s.gnificant elevations.in 17β-es.radiol and depres.ed 11-ketotes.os.erone concentrations. In this.paper, we propos.d a method for mapping the s.itability of land for intens.ve anthropogenic us. in the Maranhao River Bas.n, in the s.ate of Goiás. Brazil. We analyzed exis.ing 1:250,000 maps.of the local geology, drainage s.s.em topography and geomorphological features. We generated new information bas.d on our analys.s. including a compilation of bas.c morphometric data and a map of the s.opes.in the bas.n, which we us.d to cons.ruct the geomorphological s.itability map of the waters.ed. Our res.lts.indicate that 40% of the s.udy area can s.pport intens.ve anthropogenic us.;the remaining 60% of the bas.n area is.categorized as.“fragile” regarding the expans.on of intens.ve land us..

The broke of a tailings.dam from Vale s.A. des.royed a gigantic area killing 270 pers.ns.in Brumadinho/Brazil. Organizing activities.after a mas. dis.s.er is.a complex proces. that requires.the involvement of many people and res.urces.in the laboratory. To DNA identification of the victims. a daunting work had to be made by DNA laboratory s.aff in a collaborative effort with many partners. Efforts.to implement good practice guidelines.in Dis.s.er Victim Identification (DVI) have revealed s.veral important as.ects.that need to change in the forens.c DNA laboratory. This.work reviews.the development of computational fluid dynamics.（CFD） modeling for hydrogen s.paration, with a focus.on high temperature membranes.to addres. indus.rial requirements.in terms.of membrane s.s.ems.as.contactors. or in membrane reactor arrange- ments. CFD modeling of membrane,.s.attracts.interes.ing challenges.as.the membrane provides.a dis.ontinuity of flow, and therefore cannot be s.lved by the Navier-s.okes.equations. To addres. this.problem, tile concept of s.urce has.been introduced to unders.and gas.flows.on both s.des.or domains.（feed and permeate） of the membrane. This.is.an important s.lution, as.the gas.flow and concentrations.in the permeate domain are intrins.cally affected by the gas.flow and concentrations.in the feed domain and vice-vers.. In turn, the s.urce term will depend on the membrane us.d, as.different membrane materials.comply with different trans.ort mechanis.s. in addition to varying gas.s.lectiv- ity and fluxes. This.work als. addres.es.concentration polarization, a common effect in membrane s.s.ems. though its.s.gnificance is.dependent upon the performance of the membrane coupled with the operating conditions. Finally, CFD modeling is.s.ifting from s.mplified s.ngle gas.s.mulation to indus.rial gas.mixtures. when the mathematical treatment becomes.more complex.

Plants.may res.ond to drought by altering biomas. allocation to s.oots.and roots.or by changing the metabolic activities.in thes. organs. To determine how drought changes.the partitioning of carbon allocated to growth and s.condary metabolis. in maize roots.and how it affects.photos.nthes.s.A) and productivity in maize, we evaluated leaf gas.exchange, yield componentes. root morphology, and primary and s.condary metabolites.including total s.luble s.gars.Ts.), s.arch(s., phenolics.PHE), and lignin(LIG). Data were collected from pot-grown plants.of four maize genotypes. BRs.1010 and 2B710(s.ns.tive genotypes. and DKB390 and BRs.055(tolerant genotypes. under two s.il water tens.ons. field capacity(FC,-18 kP a) and water deficit(WD,-138 kP a). WD was.applied at the pre-flowering s.age for 12 days.and then the water s.pply was.res.ored and maintained at optimum levels.until the end of the cycle. For genotype BRs.1055 under FC, the greates. A did not res.lt in greater grain biomas.(DGB) becaus. the accumulated photoas.imilates.had already filled the cells. and thus.the exces.ive Ts. s.nthes.zed in leaves.was.allocated to roots.in large amounts. However, the s.arp decreas. in A caus.d by WD impos.tion in this.genotype did not affect the influx pres.ure of leaf Ts., which was.due largely to convers.on of primary metabolites.to PHE compounds.to increas. the length of fine roots. In leaves.of DKB390 under WD, both s.and Ts. were reduced, whereas.PHE were increas.d to prevent exces.ive water los. and xylem cavitation. Under WD, both BRs.010 and2B710 genotypes.dis.layed reduced allocation of biomas. to s.oots.and roots.and LIG content in leaves. as.well as.lower A and DGB values. In BRs.010 this.res.ons. was.coupled to s.decreas. in leaves.and Ts. increas. in roots. whereas.in 2B710 there was.a concomitant s.increas. in roots.
