Disasters are a large cause of internal displacement at the global level, in 2017 alone affecting more than19 million people. This dimension of disaster risk is usually overlooked in many disaster risk management strategies and assessments. It is only very recently that efforts to quantify displacement risk and integrate that dimension into existing physical risk models have been made. A key component of internal displacement assessment is the quantification of its economic impacts, both direct and indirect, not only to make a figure available but to raise awareness and increase accountability among governments, stakeholders, policymakers, and decision *** article presents a novel and peril-agnostic methodology with which to estimate, using a scenario-based approach, the economic production lost because of internal population displacement. The methodology is applied by using as a triggering event the April 2015 gorkha, Nepal M7.8 earthquake. The method quantifies the indirect cost caused by internal population displacement because of that event in terms of lost economic production and estimates the loss to be between USD 400 and 850 million.

The gW approach produces highly accurate quasiparticle energies,but its application to large systems is computationally challenging due to the difficulty in computing the inverse dielectric *** address this challenge,we develop a machine learning approach to efficiently predict density–density response functions(DDRF)in *** atomic decomposition of the DDRF is introduced,as well as the neighborhood density–matrix descriptor,both of which transform in the same way under *** resulting DDRFs are then used to evaluate quasiparticle energies via the gW *** assess the accuracy of this method,we apply it to hydrogenated silicon clusters and find that it reliably reproduces HOMO–LUMO gaps and quasiparticle energy *** accuracy of the predictions deteriorates when the approach is applied to larger clusters than those in the training *** advances pave the way for gW calculations of complex systems,such as disordered materials,liquids,interfaces,and nanoparticles.

We show that when A is a separable C*-algebra,every countably generated Hilbert A-module is projective（with bounded module maps as morphisms）.We also study the approximate extensions of bounded module *** the case where A is a σ-unital simple C*-algebra with strict comparison,and every strictly positive lower semicontinuous affine function on quasitraces can be realized as the rank of an element in the Cuntz semigroup,we show that the Cuntz semigroup is equivalent to unitarily equivalent classes of countably generated Hilbert A-modules if and only if A has stable rank one.

A morphofunctional investigation of the different neuronal subpopulations projecting through each of the nerves IV-VI emerging bilaterally from the terminal ab- dominal ganglion （TAg） was correlated with the octopaminergic activity in the ganglion that controls the ovipositor movements associated with caUing behavior in the female gypsy moth Lymantria dispar. Tetramethylrodamine-dextran backfills from nerve stumps resulted in a relatively low number of TAg projections, ranging from 12 to 13 for nerve pair IV, 12 to 14 for nerve pair V, and 8 to 9 for nerve pair VI. Furthermore, as assessed by electrophysiological recordings, a number of fibers within each of these nerves displays spontaneous tonic activity, also when the ganglion is fully disconnected from the ventral nerve cord （VNC）. Octopamine （OA） applications to the TAg strongly enhanced the activ- ity of these nerves, either by increasing the firing rate of a number of spontaneously firing units or by recruiting new ones. This octopaminergic activity affected calling behavior, and specifically the muscle activity leading to cycling extensions of the intersegmental membrane （IM） between segments VIII and IX （ovipositor）. Our results indicate that in the female gypsy moth the octopaminergic neural activity of the TAg is coupled with ex- tensions and retractions oflM for the purpose of releasing pheromone, where motor units innervated by nerve pair IV appear antagonistic with respect to those innervated by nerve pair V.
