Primary testicular lymphoma:Clinical characteristics and oncological outcomes

Background:Primary testicular lymphoma(PTL)is a rare testicular malignancy,despite being considered the most common testicular tumorin patients olderthan 60 *** testicularlymphoma represents only 1%-9%oftesticular *** studies have been published regarding its clinical features and *** study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of *** and methods:Orchiectomy specimens of 15 patients with PTL diagnosed during 2000-2020 at our institution were retrospectively *** collected information on demographic data,clinical features,management aspects,and outcomes of PTL ***-Meier survival curves and Cox regression analyses were used to study ***:The median patient age was 69 years(interquartile range,61-72 years).The most prevalent clinical presentation was testicular swelling(80%),and only 13.33%of the patients presented with systemic *** system involvement was detected in 6 patients(40%).Of the 15 patients,5(33.33%)had stage IE and 10(66.67%)had stage IVE *** large B-cell lymphoma was the most common histological *** patients(80%)received *** follow-up,4 patients(26.67%)*** recurrence ratein the contralateraltesticle was 13.33%.The median cancer-specific survivalwas 21.58 months(95%confidence interval,0-43.95 months).Univariate Cox regression analysis showed that central nervous system involvement and International Prognostic Index score were significantly associated with shorter cancer-specific ***:Primary testicularlymphoma has a high relapse rate and poor *** strategies typicallyinclude radical orchiectomy and systemic *** nervous system involvement and International Prognostic Index scores were associated with lymphoma-specific survival.

It has proven difficult to use systemic administration of small molecules to selectively modulate *** the past decade,we and others have developed non-replicating herpes simplex virus(HSV)-based vectors to treat chronic *** inoculation of an HSV vector effectively transduces sensory neurons in the dorsal root ganglion;release of transgene-coded inhibitory neurotransmitters or anti-inflammatory peptides reduces pain-related behaviors in rodent models of chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain.A phase 1 trial of this therapy in patients is set to begin soon.

On April 26-27, 2013, the Step by Step Foundation hosted the Second International Spinal Cord Repair Meeting at the Fira Barcelona Convention Center in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain, highlighting some of the exciting research including clinical trials which show promise for treatments for this devastating disorder. This meeting brought together clinicians, clinical scientists and molecular biologists from more than 10 countries to evaluate current knowledge on clinical, cellular, and biomolecular aspects of spinal cord injury. A major goal of the conference in advancing the translation of research data to the clinic was to promote multi-pronged approaches for therapy of this complex problem.
