Prevalence and Factors Associated with Depression, Anxiety and Stress in IBD Patients Undergoing Intravenous Biological Therapy during the COVID-19 Pandemic-Montenegro Experience

Throughout its duration,the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been affecting lives worldwide and has had a sizeable impact on mental health,particularly for those who already suffer from a chronic ***,Anxiety and Stress(DAS)are common psychiatric comorbidities in inﬂammatory bowel disease(IBD)*** study aims to determine the prevalence and risk factors for moderate and severe symptoms of DAS in IBD patients have been undergoing intravenous biological therapy(IvBTh)during the COVID-19 *** study was conducted between September 1st and November 30th,2020 at the Clinical Center of Mon-tenegro-IBD unit,where all patients from Montenegro received the registered *** case control study consists of 94 IBD patients that completed a validated questionnaire Depression,Anxiety and Stress Score-21(DASS-21).A total of 59 patients received tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors(anti-TNF therapy),while 35 received anti-integrin *** we calculated the DASS-21 score,we divided the patients into two groups:those who had moderate and severe symptoms(if they had any of the mentioned DASS-21 subscale score above limit for moderate or more severe symptoms:DASS-21 Depression,higher than 14;DASS-21 Anxiety,higher than 10 and DASS-21 Stress,higher than 19)and those who did not have signiﬁcant symptoms(DASS-21 subscale score did not exceed the limit).We also examined demographic data,data on IBD characteristics and COVID-19 data and their impact on mental *** statistical processing tests were used to identify risk factors for examined mental *** the DASS-21 criteria,we diagnosed the least moderate depression in 19.1%,anxiety in 14.9%and stress in 20.2%*** multivariate analysis indicated there to be a statistically signiﬁcant relation of being higher at risk of developing depression,anxiety and stress when suffering from an active form of IBD(OR 6.487;95%Cl 1.220–34.500,P=0.028).Almost one t

Throughout human civilization, elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.) has been used as a traditional drug and addition to various dishes. Although it is a widespread plant species, it is still being researched and rarely used to obtain new products. In this study, we focused on the chemical and phytochemical composition and biological and pharmacological effects of elderberry wine, obtained by applying different temperature treatments (without temperature treatment – W1;60℃, 5 min – W2;60℃, 10 min – W3;and 70℃, 5 min – W4 ). HPLC-MS/MS and spectrophotometric techniques determined the chemical and phytochemical profiles of obtained wines. The main compounds in analyzed wines were p-Hydroxybenzoic, protocatechuic and chlorogenic acids, quercetin, quercetin-3-O-hexoside, and rutin . To assess the biological potential, antioxidant, neuroprotective (acetyl- and butyrylcholinesterase inhibition), antityrosinase, and antidiabetic (amylase inhibition and glucosidase inhibition) abilities were examined. Wine W4 showed the strongest antioxidant activity, which correlated well with the high phenol content. The best inhibitory effect of β-glucosidase was observed in wine W3 . However, the most potent tyrosinase inhibitor was wine W4 . The presented results prove elderberry wine's high biological and industrial potential and open new avenues for formulating new products that could be brought to market.

Short-circuit Analysis in Large-scale Distribution Systems With High Penetration of Distributed Generators

In this paper a short-circuit computation(SCC) procedure for large-scale distribution systems with high penetration of distributed generators based on contemporary technologies is proposed. The procedure is suitable for real-time *** of modern distributed generators differs from the modeling of traditional synchronous and induction ***, SCC procedures found on the presumption of distribution systems with only traditional generators are not suitable in nowadays systems. Biopolymer-based powders with encapsulated thyme oil: Characterization and comparison with free oil regarding thermal stability and antimicrobial activity

The prevention of food contamination by pathogenic microorganisms is a very important factor for food safety and security during storage time. The essential oils have the potential to be used as antimicrobial agents, but their full potential is limited due to the sensitivity and volatility of bioactive compounds. This study aimed to characterize Thymus vulgaris essential oil, free and nano-encapsulated in alginate-whey protein concentrate carriers using the freeze-drying technique. GC/MS analysis was done to identify the oil composition. The investigation of the antimicrobial effect of free and encapsulated oil was performed on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans, by microdilution method. The free thyme oil exhibited antimicrobial activity against all tested microorganisms in the range of 0.71–1.43 mg/ml. Interestingly, encapsulated oil was more effective at lower concentrations (0.625–1.25 mg/ml), as a consequence of a nano-size carrier (0.25 ± 0.5 μm) together with other properties (encapsulation efficiency of 86.04%). TGA pointed out a significant effect of encapsulation, in comparison to free oil, on the stability of thyme oil at temperatures from 25 to 500 °C. The results indicated a high potential of thyme oil powder carriers as natural antimicrobial additives in food products.
