This paper gives an account of the diverse dimensions of research on disaster risk reduction in mountain regions derived from an open call of the Journal of Mountain Science that brought 21 *** special issue includes topics as diverse as landslide dynamics and mechanisms,landslide inventories and landslide susceptibility models,insights to landslide hazards and disasters and mitigation measures,disaster response and disaster risk *** overall structure of the paper takes the form of three *** first part begins by laying out the significance of disaster risk reduction in mountain areas,whereas the second one looks at the research insights on disaster risk reduction in mountains provided by the contributions comprised in the special *** final section identifies areas for further research.

Front-of-package(FOP)nutrition labelling schemes were developed to improve consumer’s comprehension about the food nutrients associated with non-communicable diseases(NCDs).Several FOPs have already been developed,and Brazil is in the process of evaluating a scheme to introduce in the *** aim of this study was to investigate the impact of TLS,the scheme proposed by the food industry,on the product healthfulness perception.A study with 141 participants was carried out.A conjoint task was designed considering three categories and levels:types of dairy products(light yogurt,prato cheese,and chocolate flavoured milk),Traffic Light System(yes ***)and brand(well-known ***).The effect of TLS on perceived healthfulness was evaluated using a 9-point scales(1:not healthy;9:very healthy).Results showed that the inclusion of TLS did not influence the perceived healthfulness of the products by consumers,even among consumers with higher interest in healthy *** findings suggest that the proposal supported by the food industry does not seem to be the most appropriate,being recommended the development of further studies to compare the efficacy of TLS and other FOP schemes.

The objective of this work is to evaluate the feasibility of moderate resolution satellite data estimating the surface heat balance in a tropical hydroelectric reservoir. Each component of the heat flux balance was computed using the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) water surface temperature (WST) level 2, 1 km nominal resolution data (MOD11L2, version 5) from 2003 to 2008. The consequence of the heat flux exchange in the water column thermal structure is also investigated. The passage of cold front over a region decreases the atmospheric pressure and air temperature, enhancing the relative humidity. The sensible flux presents a small variability but an increase occurs due to a convective turbulence caused by front passage. The latent flux decrease but insufficiently to cause a condensation, just the evaporation decreases. The upwelling events are the responsible to maintain the loss of heat after the cold front pas- sage.

Axillary recurrence is a rare event in patients treated with sentinel lymph node biopsy alone with the majority occurring in the first 5 years after surgery. Intramammary lymph node (IMLN) can be the primary sites of metastasis and sentinel lymph nodes, but the clinical significance, including prognosis and therapeutic approach is yet unclear, even more with capsular extravasation. IMLN metastases are strongly correlated with axillary lymph nodes involvement and therefore a guide for further surgical management of the axillary nodes.

To highlight the importance of small earthquakes in seismic hazard, a study of the 11 May 2016, Mw 4.9, Tesistan, Mexico earthquake is presented. Due to the close proximity of the event to the city, accelerations were considerably higher than those caused by historical severe earthquakes (6.0 < Mw < 8.2). This paper addresses two objectives related to the Tesistan event: the fi rst is to estimate the focal mechanism solution in order to place the event in the context of the tectonic environment of this area. The second is focused on a vulnerability evaluation of buildings that suff ered resonance. Several building′s typologies with variations in construction system and height are assessed in terms of resonance with the structural and soil periods. The results show that around the Zapopan station, strong damage is expected in intermediate to high-rise buildings (12-30 m) with moment resistant frame systems and in reinforced concrete shear walls. Masonry structures around this station may not present resonance. In contrast, in the surroundings of the Guadalajara station, all intermediate height buildings from 9 to 21 m may present resonance.

OBJECTIVE: To Identify subgroups of workers with chronic pain based on the interaction of different pain dimensions (sensory, affective, evaluative and mixed), depression, beliefs regarding pain, physical incapacity and socio-demographic-clinical data. METHODS:An observational cross-sectional study was carried out with a convenience sample made up of 115 patients with work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMD). The participants answered the McGill Pain Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory, Survey of Pain Attitudes, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire and a form for socio-demographic and clinical data. RESULTS: Four distinct subgroups were identified, two of which reported pain of a sensory-affective nature and two reported predominantly sensory pain. The individuals in subgroups I and III reported higher levels for all variables analyzed, while the first cluster had the highest mean scores. The subgroup II exhibited moderate degrees of physical disability and a high sick leave index, although the members of this group were less depressed and less dependent upon analgesics. Lower levels of pain, physical disability and depression were associated to subgroup IV, which also had the greatest proportion of males. Beliefs were similar among the subgroups. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with moderate to strong chronic pain associated to sensory and affective components exhibited a higher degree of disability and depression. The results suggest that the chronification process of pain and its functional consequences vary between individuals and are influenced by emotional factors.
