'THE LOVE OF J. ALFRED PRUFROCK' 'THE LOVE SONG OF *** PRUFROCK',one of the earlier poems that brought T.S. Eliot fame,is a voice from hell. In thispoem,the poet expressed his dissatisfaction with life, its dullness, its monotony its repetition and its decadence. The title itself captures the reader. It is a love song; but the name Prufrock is prosaic, awkward, with hints of prim ness or effeminacy, and with its suggestion of modern American business in the initial and first name form. Direct optical-structure correlation in atomically thin dichalcogenides and heterostructures

Atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have distinct opto-electronic properties including enhanced luminescence and high on-off current ratios,which can be further modulated by making more complex TMD ***,resolution limits of conventional optical methods do not allow for direct nanoscale optical-structural correlation measurements in these materials,particularly of buried interfaces in TMD *** we use,for the first time,electron beam induced cathodoluminescence in a scanning transmission electron microscope(CL-STEM)to measure optical properties of monolayer TMDs(WS2,MoS2 and WSSe alloy)encapsulated between layers of *** observe dark areas resulting from localized(~100 nm)imperfect interfaces and monolayer folding,which shows that the intimate contact between layers in this application-relevant heterostructure is required for proper inter layer *** also realize a suitable imaging method that minimizes electron-beam induced changes and provides measurement of intrinsic *** overcome the limitation of small electron interaction volume in TMD monolayer(and hence low photon yield),we find that encapsulation of TMD monolayers with hBN and subsequent annealing is ***-STEM offers to be a powerful method to directly measure structure-optical correspondence in lateral or vertical heterostructures and alloys.

Reading Levels of Leaflets of Common Over-the-Counter Drugs in Ghana

Health communication is critical component of effective health delivery. While there are studies on the readability Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) around the world, so far, there is only one Ghanaian study that explored the language of patient information leaflets for malaria. The present study explores the language of PILs of seven common ailments in Ghana. In all, 68 leaflets were purposely sampled for the study. Using SMOG and Flesch Kincaid grade level readability formulae, the researcher measured the readability of PILs and discovered that the readability of all the PILs was difficult to read except the dewormer leaflets that scored standard reading score. Further statistical analysis reveal that the lexical and syntactic complexity of the leaflets were not statistically different. Finally, an interview with 20 patients confirmed that the leaflets are difficult to read due to the complex words and long sentence structures. It is recommended that the PILs be revised to make the leaflets readable.

“引导灾害研究将社会与科技、民间团体与政府机构联系起来,以便将技术管理工作转化为防灾减灾的有效政策是非常重要的。”卡塔赫纳宣言,1994年3月破坏性事件,无论它们是否成为灾害,对不同目标及易损对象影响的表现形式可能随时间而改变,很多因素影响这些变化。一方面,科学技术有助于自然威胁的早期监测和预报,而另一方面人们增加了危险化工原料及废料的数量,其中还有工业与医药的能源生产中,丈量利用放射性物质。造成变化的其它因素还有:公众在灾害防御减轻和准备方面取得的进步。主要是因为他们曾经遭受过重大的灾害,响应机制的增强带来了促进作用,尽管在许多国家仍是很不够的,仅保证修复和重建计划.总之,试图改善生活质量的发展不是没有风险。

STUDY ON SEDIMENTATION PROBLEMS AT LIANYUN HARBOUR

Lianyungang (Lianyun Harbour) is situated at the eastern terminal of a trunk railway which is a part of a grand railway system traversing Eurasia leading eventually to Amsterdam of the Netherlands. Because of the historical shift of the Yellow River, huge amount of muddy sediment deposits occurred in the near-shore zone embracing the Lianyun Harbour. Inadequate depths of water accompanied by serious sedimentation problems hampers the development of Lianyun Harbour. In the last twenty years extensive studies including large-scale field investigations have been carried out, and multi-disciplinary studies of flow dynamics, geomorphology, sedimentation and others have been conducted. This provides the large-scale expansion of Lianyun Harbour with scientific basis and makes the execution of the expansion possible. Now the Lianyun Harbour has become one of the country’s most important ports with deep water for foreign trade. Main achievements in sediment-related studies are summarized in this paper.

Traveling and stationary internal hydraulic jumps in density currents with positive or negative entrainment coefficients were analyzed based on simple assumptions. An expression of internal hydraulic jumps with entrainment coefficients was derived. Experimental data,published in literature,of stationary internal hydraulic jumps in turbid,thermal and saline density currents including measured values of water entrainment were used to compare with theory. Comparison was also made of traveling internal hydraulic jumps between measured data and theory.
