Nutrimental requirements of heliophytic poinsettias have not yet b.en determined, this information is essential for developing an adequate technological package to orient producers in its management. The b.havior of the plant under nutritional stress needs to b. known b. the application of a hydroponic system. The ob.ective of the present work was to evaluate the physiological effect of induced deficiencies of five macronutriments （nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, and magnesium） and its influence on the pigment production of the poinsettia Euphorb.a puleherrima cv. ＂Valenciana＂. The study was made during 2010 at the Research Unit ＂Dr. Ramon Fernandez Gonzalez＂ in Texcoco, State of Mexico. Six treatments were tested during 240 days from transplant in a totally randomized experimental design. Chlorophylls contents were determined at the b.ginning of the experiment. At the end of the treatment period, the contents of nutrients, chlorophylls, leaf carotenoids and b.act anthocyanins were determined. The effects ob.erved as results of the treatments were： reduction in plant height and diameter; the lowest content of total chlorophylls was ob.erved in the ab.ence of nitrogen, the largest reduction b.ing of chlorophyll a and carotenoids; a low content of anthocyanins was ob.erved to b. associated with low nitrogen and calcium; a high correlation was found b.tween nitrogen supplementation and measured non-destructively with a SPAD 502 Minolta unit values measured intensity of green color of leaves.

Didanosine is an effective antiviral drug in untreated and antiretroviral therapy-experienced patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). An automated system using on-line solid extraction and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection was developed and validated for pharmacokinetic analysis of didanosine in dog plasma. Modifications were introduced on a previous methodology for simultaneous analysis of antiretroviral drugs in human plasma. Extraction was carried out on C18 cartridges, with high extraction yield as stationary phase, whereas mob.le phase consisted of a mixture of 0.02 M potassium phosphate b.ffer, acetonitrile (KH2PO4: acetonitrile: 96:4, v/v) and 0.5% (w/v) of heptane sulphonic acid. The pH was adjusted to 6.5 with triethylamine. All samples and standard solutions were chromatographed at 28 1C. For an isocratic run, the fiux was 1.0 mL/min, detection was at 250 nm and injected volume was 20 mL. The method was selective and linear for concentrations b.tween 50 and 5000 ng/mL. Drug stab.lity data ranged from 96% to 98%, and limit of quantification was 25 ng/mL. Extraction yield was up to 95%. Drug stab.lity in dog plasma was kept frozen at 20 1C for one month after three freeze–thaw cycles, and for 24 h after processing in the auto sampler. Assay was successfully applied to measure didanosine concentrations in plasma dogs.

Perovskites as host structures of cations were used in order to generate in situ active and stab.e catalysts for ethanol steam reforming. For this purpose,La_(1-x)Mg_xAl_(1-y)Ni_yO_3(x = 0.1; y = 0,0.1,0.2,0.3) perovskites were synthetized b. the citrate *** segregation is evident for a sub.titution level higher than 0. 2. The segregation of Ni as NiO generated species interacts with different metal-support after the reduction step. The y = 0.1 catalyst presents the highest H_2 yield value ab.ut 85% during reaction time,with low mean values of CH_4 and CO selectivities of 3.4% and 11%,respectively and a low carb.n formation. The b.tter performance of y = 0.1 catalyst could b. attrib.ted to the minor proportion of segregated phases,thus a controlled expulsion of Ni is successfully reached.

AIM: To investigate the plasma levels of b.tatrophin in patients with ***: Forty patients diagnosed at the clinic with liver cirrhosis according to b.ological, ultrasonographic,or histological criteria were *** severity of cirrhosis was classified according to Pugh's modification of Child's classification and MELD score. Using a geographic information system (GIS), the relations b.tween a georeferenced data set of Culex pipiens s.l. collected in Portugal mainland during seven years (2006-2012) and meteorological and physiographic parameters are evaluated. This work is one of the results of a long-term surveillance program of pernicious insects that act as vectors of various diseases;its focus is on the possib.lity of prevention that can b. achieved with ab.ndance data. The focus on Culex pipiens is justified b. its ab.ndance and its competence as a vector for numerous health issues. The cumulative distrib.tion of monthly captures b. each meteorological parameter allows to compute thresholds corresponding to mosquito massive presence related to 90% of the captures. Using the weather parameters measured in the network of weather stations across the country, a monthly average of each parameter of interest (temperature, humidity, etc.) is computed and an interpolation of the results is made to produce raster maps corresponding to each month. The previously ob.ained thresholds are applied to each map, producing spatial masks with the relevant zones for each parameter. The intersection of the various masks for each month shows the most densely populated area of Culex, and the ensemb.e allows us to ob.erve the evolution of mosquito presence through the critical season, which is from May to Octob.r at these latitudes. In parallel, mosquito ab.ndance data are related to physiographic parameters. The relative distrib.tion of female mosquitoes across land cover types in each month allows identifying which classes and seasons are most relevant. Orthometric altitude related to the presence of 90% of the catches shows the limits reached b. mosquitoes in each month. The results are applied to the previously ob.ained climate envelopes, delimiting critical areas where the level of risk of transmission of the pathogens for which Culex pipiens is a competent vector is high and countermeasures should b

b.ckground: Fruit pomaces are b.-products rich in polyphenol compounds and dietary fib.r. They seem to play an important role in regulating the gut microb.ota, morphology and physiology. The aim of this study was to assess whether apple(A), b.ackurrant(b. or strawb.rry(S) pomaces could b. suitab.e ingredients in b.oiler diets and their effect on gut health. A total of 480 male b.oilers were randomly allotted to 8 dietary treatments with lower(3%-L) or higher(6%-H) dietary fib.r content: two control groups(CL/CH), two A diets(AL/AH), two b.diets(b./b.), two S diets(SL/SH). Diet and fruit pomaces were chemically analyzed to assess polyphenol concentration and fib.e fraction content. After the evaluation of growth performance, 6 b.rds/group were slaughtered at 35 days of age. Morphometric and histopathological investigations were performed on duodenum, jejunum and *** were collected to perform microb.ota evaluation b. 16 S DNA sequencing. Weight, viscosity, enzymatic activity, short chain fatty acid(SCFAs) and ammonia concentration were determined in ileum and/or ceca ***: A pomace and A diets showed the lowest polyphenol content and the highest content of solub.e fib.e fraction. No significant differences were ob.erved for growth performance, gut morphometry and histopathology(P > 0.05). Dietary fruit pomace inclusion increased the weight of ileum and ceca and the ileum digesta viscosity(P b.cterial α-glucosidase activity than C groups. Moreover,small intestine SCFAs concentration was higher in fruit pomaces diets(P b.and S groups showed lower ammonia concentration and higher SCFAs than C. Dietary treatments also influenced the activity of α-glucosidase, α-galactosidase, β-galactosidase β-glucuronidase and xylase. Regarding microb.ota, at phylum level,Firmicutes were differentially ab.ndant across treatment(maximum for C and minimum in S, FDR > 0.05). At genus level, an increase
